Richard walked out of the house, feeling a sense of normalcy wash over him. He was finally starting to heal, to move on from the traumas of his past. Karl waited for him outside, a look of concern etched on his face.
"I'll be fine, Karl," Richard said, smiling weakly. "I just need to get some groceries."
Karl nodded, watching as Richard walked into the store. He waited patiently outside, his eyes scanning the parking lot.
But as the minutes ticked by, Karl started to feel a sense of unease. Something didn't feel right. He got out of the car and walked into the store, calling out Richard's name.
There was no answer.
Karl's heart started to racing as he frantically searched the store. And then, he saw Richard, lying on the floor, a bag of groceries scattered around him.
Karl rushed to his side, grabbing him and feeling for a pulse. But there was nothing. Richard's heart had stopped beating.
Karl's world went dark as he realized that he was too late. Richard was gone.
As he held Richard's lifeless body in his arms, Karl felt a wave of memories wash over him. He remembered the first time they met, the laughter they shared, the adventures they had.
He remembered the way Richard used to smile, the way his eyes would light up when he was excited. He remembered the way Richard would always be there for him, no matter what.
Karl's eyes welled up with tears as he looked at Richard's lifeless face. He felt a deep sadness, a sense of loss that he had never felt before.
"I'll miss you, my bro," Karl whispered, his voice shaking with emotion.
As the tears streamed down his face, Karl held Richard's body close, cherishing the memories they had shared, and mourning the loss of his dear friend.
