Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Couples Francisco and Loisa Maurice del Prado lived happy lives somewhere in

an Ilocos Sur town, particularly after they were blessed with a son named

Cyrus.

After his mother gave birth to him via cesarean section and his parents were

at work, he was the only son in the family and was constantly left alone at

home.

Francisco is a businessman, and Maurice is a popular doctor. They did not think

that Cyrus fate is destined to make a big change.

Cyrus awoke one morning to the sound of birds singing and roosters crowing,

and he was overjoyed since it was the town's fiesta.

Cyrus continued on for a while before heading to the square to have some

fun.

He noticed his Uncle Ricky and his godfather Maxwell on the town square,

with a female by his side and she steals Cyrus attention. He just can't stop looking

at her before his uncle noticed him.

"Cyrus, will you not show due respect to me, your uncle, and your godfather

in a public venue like this?" scolded Ricky del Prado.

Cyrus did not say any words but directly pay his respects to the two person in

front of him just to look closer at the girl besides his godfather.

 "Go ahead and watch

there and join the games," Ricky ordered.

He wanted to ask who that beautiful girl, almost his age, sitting next to his

godfather Max was, but he couldn't do anything about it. He just glanced at the

young girl and winked. The young girl smiled back at him, and she looked even

more beautiful in Cyrus's eyes.

As

he walked away, he could still hear his godfather Max and Uncle Ricky talking.

"Congrats, buddy, you're a councilor now. You really made it. Maybe next

you'll become a congressman or should I say the next president of the

Philippines," said Ricky.

Thank

you so much for your support, bro, but I'm okay with what you first said, but

with the last one, I don't know anymore.

And they both laughed.

"But let me change the subject, bro, about what you're studying, did you

continue?"

Oh no, if you pull that off, you'll definitely become a big-time inventor,

dude.

You'll be the man, the man who can manipulate the weather, and the whole

country will be proud of you. Not only that, the whole world will be amazed by

you, man, and they will surely be proud of you too." said Maxwel.

"How

are you, are there any results yet?"

"Good news, man, we have it now," Ricky replied.

"Wow, man, I want to see it. I'll go to your place tomorrow, Ahmm, I'll

bring my daughter Andrea with me," said Maxwel.

"Her

name is Andrea," Cyrus whispered to himself, and he finally breathed a

sigh of relief. Suddenly, he felt lighter, as if he were being cradled by the

clouds.

Cyrus has already distanced himself from them because his friends are calling

him.

The next day, early in the morning, he went to his Uncle Ricky's house to wait

for Andrea because he knew she was with her godfather.

In front of the gate of his Uncle Ricky's house, he parked his motorbike, took

off his helmet, and pressed the buzzer. The maid opened the door for him and

let him in.

"Good morning, Aunt Eme," he greeted before bowing to Emelyn del

Prado, his Uncle Ricky's wife.

They have three offspring, but they are younger than Çyrus.

"What

brings you here so early, hejo?" Emelyn inquired.

"Uncle Rick, where is he?"

"Oh, your Uncle Ricky? He's at the old windmill, I don't know what he's

busy with there, he's always there, it's like he's going to marry that

windmill. If it were up to me, I would just burn that windmill."

Emelyn hadn't even finished speaking when Cyrus left her.

"This kid really just left me," Emelyn complained to Cyrus, thinking

he was listening to her.

Suddenly, someone honked at the gate.

"Inday, please check who that is," Emelyn ordered the maid.

The maid immediately opened the gate.

"Sir Max is here, ma'am," replied the maid while opening another part

of the gate.

Meanwhile, Cyrus immediately entered the windmill because the door was slightly

ajar at that time. He found Ricky hiding there, who had round objects of

different colors, like large marbles. There were also many apparatuses

scattered inside.

When his uncle noticed him.

"Get out! What are you doing in here? Get out!" Ricky shouted.

"Ah eh, is Ninong coming here?" Cyrus innocently asked.

"Who are you really after? The councilor or his son?" Ricky asked

jokingly.

Cyrus just smiled.

"Oh, why are you smiling like that? You have a crush on your godfather's

child, don't you?" Ricky teased, even tickling Cyrus on the side.

"Eh, what did you hide underneath?"

"Ah, that's something you shouldn't meddle with. Those are my works, and

they are far more important than anyone's life. Because of this, our country

will prosper, and the del Prados will become famous worldwide. This will change

history." Essay by Ricky.

"The day will come when you will understand what I'm saying," he said

while stroking Cyrus's head.

"Is anyone home?" Just by the tone of the voice, Ricky already knows

who is outside.

"Come in, man, I have something to show you."

Cyrus, on the other hand, once again saw the beautiful young girl who, to him,

was a goddess.

Maxwel turned around when he saw Cyrus holding Andrea's hand.

"Just

leave them be, they're still kids," Ricky said.

"Come inside, I have something to show you," Ricky invited Maxwel

again.

"Your name is Andrea, by the way, I'm..."

"Cyrus" was cut off by Andrea, and they both laughed.

"When will you let me go?" asked the young girl.

"If you want forever, then hold on to me," Cyrus replied with a

smile.

"Wow, he's really something," Andrea thought, feeling giddy at what

Cyrus said.

"I mean, my hand is getting warm because of your grip."

"Ah hehe, I did notice," Cyrus replied, and they both laughed again.

Both of them cannot explain the happiness they are feeling right now. It felt

like the world stopped spinning for a moment as they laughed, exchanged

glances, and their cheeks were close to each other.

Cyrus let go of Andrea's hand.

"So, next time, Ninong Max and I will get married," said Cyrus.

"Huh! That was fast, we're still so young, right? And I haven't even

answered you yet."

Cyrus smiled.

"I'm still not asking you."

Her answer to Andrea made the girl burst into laughter.

You're really crazy.

"Why am I only seeing you here now? Where have you been?" Cyrus

wondered.

"Because I'm studying in Manila, my mom took me with her even though I

didn't want to. The truth is, I prefer it here in the province because the

vegetables, fruits, and fish are fresher and more abundant." Essay by

Andrea.

"I hope to spend many more days with you," Cyrus said.

"That's what I want too, because I've never been this happy before, now

that I've met you. I hope we meet again in another place or time," said

the young girl.

"It seems like you're starting to lose your tone," Cyrus complained.

"Because, next week I'll be going back to Manila," the woman replied.

Cyrus's eyes suddenly filled with sadness, and he saw the glistening beads of

tears in Andrea's eyes.

Inside the windmill, Ricky proudly showcased his creation to his friend, the

councilor. This is his invention that can change the climate and temperature.

"Do

you see this?"

Ricky is now holding a large cannon.

"This is what needs to be used to explode the seed in the air, it's like

you're just planting it and after a few minutes, you'll see the fruit

first," Ricky explained with a smile.

"That's really great, dude, can we give it a try?" suggested Maxwel.

"Okay, sure councilor," Ricky replied.

They hurriedly went out bringing some equipment and the weather cannon.

Max approached the children.

"Oh, what happened? Why are you all crying? You were just having fun

earlier," he remarked to the children.

"Did you two fight? Did my grandchild's child hurt you? Maybe he

disrespected you?" Maxwell continued.

"No!" Cyrus and Andrea answered in unison.

"Dad, can I just stay here in the province? I prefer being with you than

with mom," Andrea sweetly said to her father.

"We already talked about that, right Andrea? You know I'm not the one to

decide on that matter," explained Maxwell.

"Dude, everything is ready, I've set up the equipment, come on. You be the

one to shoot and plant the thunder seed in the sky."

Andrea and Cyrus also approached Ricky and Maxwell.

"Don't touch anything on the table," Ricky reminded.

Cyrus just stared at the round yellow object inside the large tube. Just like

the object he saw Ricky hide under the floor.

"Be careful with that, man, you might miss your shot and hit a bird. There

are only two left. I've already tried one, and if you miss, there will be only

one left," Ricky said with concern.

"You really are something, man, the sky is so wide, how could I possibly

miss? And if I do hit a bird, man, it won't go to waste. We'll just make it a

snack," Maxwell replied jokingly.

"You really are all jokes, man," Ricky said.

"Give it a shot," he ordered Maxwell.

Maxwell really pulled the cannon's trigger and boom.

"Look, kids, you can see how beautiful and warm the sun is today, but look

later and there will be a thunderstorm," Ricky said proudly.

"Nothing is happening, dude," Maxwel said, annoyed. His neck was

starting to hurt from looking at the sky.

"Just wait, buddy, look, the clouds are getting thicker. Soon there will

be lightning, thunder, strong winds, and then it will rain," Ricky

explained.

The weather gradually changed after a few minutes, and suddenly a sharp

lightning bolt streaked across the sky.

"Help me and we need to pack up the things. The rain is about to pour and

we need to take shelter in the windmill," Ricky ordered.

Just in time, they had already packed up their things and found shelter before

the strong wind blew and the heavy rain poured.

"Wow, this old windmill still works," said Maxwell when he saw the

signal light of the windmill light up and heard the sound caused by its

rotating blades.

"I just repaired it, man," Ricky replied.

"Dad, can Cyrus and I take a bath in the rain? We really miss bathing in

the rain here in the province," Andrea asked for permission.

"You're so old, and you're still going to bathe in the rain," was

Maxwell's only response.

"Come on, Dad," Andrea said.

"You can't go out, just stay inside. You saw how strong and sharp the

lightning is outside," Maxwel replied.

"I wish we had just tried the rain seed, I haven't tested it yet. But

there's only one of it and I haven't made a duplicate yet," said Ricky.

"That's fine, man, if you have a blueprint. Then just make it again,"

Maxwel replied.

"You're

really amazing, uncle, did you create that lightning and rain?" said

Cyrus.

"My buddy is really amazing and so smart," said Maxwel.

"My godfather is great," Andrea said.

"By the way, this is the blueprint of the thunder seed, dude," Ricky

said while opening his laptop. After inserting the USB, he showed it to Maxwel.

"Amazing!" was all his friend could say.

"How many hours will the rain last, bro?" he asked.

"That's just two hours, man," Ricky replied.

"We'll be leaving in two hours, bro, and I still have some things to take

care of," said Maxwel.

"Can I stay here for a while, Dad?" Andrea asked.

"Okay, I'll have someone pick you up before it gets dark," replied

Maxwel.

Cyrus felt encouraged because he would be with Andrea for a long time today.

Before he left, he thought they would create happy memories so they wouldn't

forget each other.
