Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 - Blood Circle

Dall was examining the body of the wolf; he noticed that it was made of a reddish meat that oozed a blue blood from its inside. Its pelt was black and fur, and overall looked like it would make a warm coat. If he had time, he would've probably skinned the wolf and taken the pelt to make a new cloak or clothing out of. But alas, our young warrior of unluck had no such time on his hands.

While he was examining the body, the blood from the wolf began to seep underneath his shoes; a large puddle was now flooding the entire floor of the large battle-room, reaching from the wall where he had murdered the creature, and slowly seeping towards the circle in the middle. Once the blood finally met with the circle in the middle, Dall heard a loud swoosh. Wind began to circulate in the center of the room, as the circle began to glow green. It created an illusory copy of the circle above it which then began siphoning all the blood from the fallen creature. It was like a drain, but upwards. The blood began rapidly moving into the middle of the room, and flowing up to the circle where it then absorbed and spun even more rapidly.

Dall was astonished, until the circle then began to siphon the wolf as well. Dall cried out for it to stop, he wanted the pelt. However, the circle began to warp the wolf and pull it inwards, until the animal was completely gone from the spot. All that was left in its wake was a pool of already dried blood that couldn't be siphoned by the magic circle. However, that wasn't the end of it all. The illusory circle began to change into a bright yellow color, and then with a flash of light took form into an angel. That's what we call it, but in reality it would be better to say the devil. An illusory elf with blonde hair and yellow eyes, dressed in a white toga with a "halo" floating above her head appeared. She had one white wing and one blue wing, both of which were attached to her back and covered the front of her body completely.

If Dall hadn't been in the temple labyrinth, he probably would've fallen captive to her beauty. However, they say the devil comes in the form of an angel to tempt the fallen. Dall brought back up his guard, he wasn't trusting anything no matter how docile it looked. If it could withstand the forests' curse, it was dangerous. However, as though it read his thought, the angel spoke with a soft, feminine voice: "Relax. I'm not some monster. I'm merely a composite messenger that is made from the remnant purity in this monsters blood. That is how you move to the next stage, you must sacrifice the blood unto the circle altar--of course you seem to have taken the liberty to do such."

Dall was shocked, it was strangely coherent. "What are you?" he asked in a trembling voice. It responded with a sigh, "Hadn't I just told you, David de Dalia, I'm a messenger. I'm made of purity, sort of like the constellations which so intently follow you." her eyes narrowed "Though that flower is truly strange"

Who? Who did she address? As if his thoughts weren't his own he subconsciously spoke, "David? Who's that." The 'angel' chuckled "Don't try to coax an angelic messenger you fool, I can see your name and age displayed above you in the form of your purity. Mr. David de Dalia, 17 years of age."

Name.. No his name was Dall and he was 27. Was David this bodies original owner? The new him was 17? David.. was he really still Dall Ornata? Is that really who he still is? In the 'dream' he had, the strange monster-elf called him David too. However, that can't be. He's become David de Dalia? and 10 years younger? Well the age was a plus, but he didn't believe he could ever don this new identity. David. It wasn't him.

And what was this of purity? 'the form of his purity'? He's heard the word used so many times to describe a thing, what did it mean here? What is purity in this sense? He spoke "What is pu-" however he was cut short. "Ahhhh shut up, the magic won't last longer. You've made it through your second trial. The last one fully depends on you." The 'angel' snapped her fingers, on the back wall a gate appeared, "Make your way through here, and overcome the past in order to become a contender for the future. Your own path depends on you, now you must take the reigns. Overcome your burdens and succumb to the future!"

Once she had said that, she snapped her fingers once more and vanished. Dall... "Dall" ran his hands through his hair, that is if it really is "his" hair. This was all too much, he sighed and sat on the cold stone floor to collect himself. The constellations were rapidly spinning around him, as though trying to comfort and calm him. Like a display of stars moving through the night sky. He collected himself, stood up, sheathed his daggers and set out, walking towards the newly formed gate.

He peered inside, there he saw another short corridor, however there was a turn to the left which had a bright blue glow reflecting out of it. He opened the gate and walked down the hall. When he turned the corner, no other sight could have been more blissful. It was another safe room.

He stepped inside and the entrance behind him closed up, forming a new gate on the diagonal wall. The room was different than the others. The stone appeared to be an artificial sky, that looked and seemed authentic. There was a light breeze blowing through the room, which was adorned with fruit-bearing trees and flowers all around. In the right corner, a tiny waterfall was dropping into a small pond of clear blue water. It was tranquil, more-so than the last safe-room. Dall sighed a breath of relief as he walked over to the rocks surrounding the pond and began taking off his stuff. He needed to wash up, he was covered in blood.

The water was warm, it also sent the weird tingling feeling through his body. He snickered and leaned back relaxing into the water. Purity.. huh. Maybe that's what this feeling is, 'purity', he still didn't know what it was. However, the way it was being used seemed like a thing rather than a thought. He didn't wanna think too hard. This identity battle, these newfound thoughts, something told him that tomorrow would answer the lot of these questions.

He dried off and put his cloak back on. After washing his blades, he went over to observe the fruit trees, they had a pear-like fruit on it, however it was circling. This time, the wolf wasn't circling them but it was the snake. Dall jested, the fruit of wisdom huh? he grabbed one and took a bite. It tasted like pineapple, just straight pineapple, however it was juicy and soft to the bite. He grabbed a couple, and after snacking on a few, shoved the rest in his rucksack.

He sighed, it was going to be a long day tomorrow, that was for sure. Even longer though, it would be a long night.

Dall sat around for a few hours, relaxing until he felt like he was fully exhausted. The constellations were circling about, even flower was relaxing. He turned to the flower, "I never thanked you all for your help, thank you for making sure I wasn't a piece of pummeled meat on the battle-room floor." Dall did a slight bow. The flower acted flustered and danced around as though flaunting his ego.

Dall laughed. He walked over to soft ground and laid his head to rest in his hands, looking up at the bright blue sky above him. Even if it was fake, it was still nice to see a snow-less blue sky. They even stimulated birds, whatever magic this was, it was really awesome. Dall laid for a moment, as his smile faded. He would have to deal with the magic communication again tonight...

He beckoned over the constellations and asked flower, "Can you all sense magic, or purity or whatever it is?" the constellation danced in confirmation. Dall looked towards all of them and said, "If I begin to suffer an attack, wake me up." and with that he turned over and laid down ready to fall asleep. The constellations seemed to know what he was talking about, and huddled in a group seemingly 'talking', most likely discussing 'guard shifts' for the night. Dall found it funny, as he began to doze out into sleep. It would be a long night, and an even longer morning. He should make the most of rest while he can.
