Chapter 1 - the journey begins

TRIIIIIIM TRIIIIIIM

The sound of the alarm echoed through the house. It was 7:00 AM, and the sun was already shining over the entire city. An arm stretched out and turned off the alarm. It was Cyan, struggling to stay awake.

"UAAA," he yawned. "I have to wake up. Today is the big day."

Cyan got up and started his morning routine. He brushed his teeth, got dressed, and headed to the kitchen, drawn in by a pleasant aroma. Upon arriving, he found his father preparing breakfast, too focused to notice his son's arrival.

"Good morning. What's for breakfast?" Cyan asked, announcing his presence.

"Good morning, champ. I didn't even see you there," his father replied, still busy cooking. "I made your favorite meal for today. Excited for the adventure ahead?"

"For sure," the boy answered enthusiastically. "I can't wait to start my Pokémon journey and choose my starter!" he exclaimed eagerly.

"Hahaha, that's the spirit," Cyan's father said, laughing. "I felt the same way when I started my journey. Ah, good times that won't come back."

"Stop complaining like that, you sound like an old man," the boy grumbled.

"Oh, you little..." the man replied, pulling the boy into a hug.

The two played around a bit more and enjoyed breakfast in a lighthearted and joyful way, cherishing each other's company without worrying about time passing.

"Are you sure you want to leave so early?" asked Clyve, Cyan's father, concerned. "Professor Samuel's lab won't open until later."

"Of course, Dad. I want to be the first to choose my starter Pokémon. And besides, don't call Professor Oak 'Samuel,' it's weird."

"Haaah, okay, you little brat. Just don't complain later about sitting and waiting for an hour," the man said with a sigh.

"Relax, old man. Waiting a little won't kill me, hehe," Cyan said as he walked out the door.

Ah, Pallet, a small rural town with vast open fields. All the houses were relatively close to each other, and everyone knew one another.

The distribution of starter Pokémon and the beginning of a Pokémon journey was an annual event in this town, almost like a regional holiday where everyone gathered to wish the new travelers good luck. It was expected, after all—everyone there was practically an uncle or aunt to the departing children.

As he walked toward the lab, Cyan couldn't help but admire the town's beauty, even though he passed through it almost every day. The mountains in the background, the distant forest, the songs of the Pidgeys flying freely through the sky—it all created a breathtaking scene, worthy of a painting.

Enchanted by the beauty surrounding him, Cyan didn't even realize he had already arrived at the professor's lab.

As he approached the entrance, he noticed an old man standing in front of the door, seemingly looking for something.

"Where did I leave it... did I forget it at home? A-ha, finally," he exclaimed after finding the key in the pocket of his lab coat.

"Good morning, Professor!" the boy called out as he approached the elderly man from behind.

"Oh, Cyan, it's you! You scared me," the professor said after jumping slightly and placing a hand over his heart. "What brings you here so early in the morning?"

"Sorry, Professor," the boy replied, scratching his head, embarrassed. "I just couldn't contain my excitement and wanted to be the first to pick my starter."

"Hahaha, I understand. Back in my day, I was so excited that I slept in front of the professor's lab just to make sure I wouldn't be late," the old man chuckled, reminiscing with a nostalgic and fond look in his eyes.

"Anyway, it's still quite early, and I need to get some things ready in the lab. Would you like to come in?" he asked the boy.

"Absolutely, Professor! Do you need any help?" Cyan asked eagerly.

"Ohoho, I wouldn't refuse some company."

The two headed inside, and as the professor prepared the lab and dealt with some paperwork, the boy followed him, helping however he could. And so, they continued while waiting for the other travelers to arrive.

Author's Notes:

Oh my God, I can't believe I made it this far!!! I've always wanted to write a story, but I never had the courage to sit my butt down and do it.

Cyan's story has been on paper for at least a year. This is the second time I've written the first chapter because the first time it was a complete disaster! It was so bad that I gave up writing for six months!

Anyway, thank you so much for reading this far.

Peace!
