Chapter 5 - Willow the liar

Willow gave a bright happy smile before I turned to my father, who was reading a newspaper. "She's Stella's illegitimate daughter, right?" I asked, making Willow a little uncomfortable and Stella angry.

My father looked at me with a cold gaze, but with so much affection it was like he was trying to hide the love he had for me by frowning every day. "She is...she's Stella and her ex-husband's child," Mr. Wellesley said, holding his walking stick firmly and looking at Stella.

I was intrigued. Their relationship wasn't as it seemed beneath the surface, was it? He didn't look at her with a look of love, but...something else.

"Anyway, yesterday, did you set me up with someone?" I asked, sitting on a sofa next to them, while Willow stood like a maid.

Mr. Wellesley looked surprised. "Set you up? No, you're a little too young for that."

I laughed softly, then explained. "Yesterday, I was brought into a hotel by Stella, who told me she set me up with a dude."

Stella stuttered, "I...I..."

Stella was shocked, but then she regained her confidence. "Maybe this brat doesn't remember a thing. Could William have raped her till the point that she lost her memories? If he did, then he must have taken videos of her in the act," Stella thought happily.

Mr. Wellesley sighed. "Avery, there will be a grand celebration this evening to celebrate this addition to our family."

Willow looked at him with fear and timidity. "So dress elegantly," he continued, making me laugh.

"Sir, my dresses are not exactly elegant. They're the maid's rags. Should I wear them?" I asked, noticing the irritated look on his face.

"Here, take this black card and get yourself new dresses and jewelry," he said.

I arrived at a big mall with Tessie at my side, holding my newly bought bags. She looked naive as she looked at the expensive bags with her mouth open.

"Tessie, take that, and that, and also that," I commanded, pointing at the beautiful dresses.

I got to the receptionist and kept in the pin, but the card kept failing. The receptionist looked at me with disgust and called security.

"Here, take this lowlife out of the mall. I knew I shouldn't have allowed two beggars in," the receptionist said, as a hand from above me took out a card and paid for my dresses.

I looked behind me, and it was Liam. He wore a black suit and styled his hair down, and his faint but charming smell.

"Miss Avery, there seems to be an issue with your credit card. I've paid for now. Later, you can pay," Liam said, looking at me, then facing the receptionist.

"Apologize, apologize to her right now," Liam said angrily, as the receptionist turned to me and started crying.

"I'm sorry, Miss Avery. I should never have said such rash words," she said, falling down and scraping her knees.

I looked at her and grinned, holding her hair and smiling even more. "We both know you're not sorry. I don't blame you. I'm not in a position of power right now, but when I'm powerful enough, you will not only beg for my forgiveness, but also beg to die."

We left the mall, and my gaze fell on Liam. "Thank you, Sir Liam. I'll repay...10 million."

Liam smiled. "Okay, but there wasn't a need. 10 million is cheap."

I got home and saw Willow holding ten heavy bags and the black card Mr. Wellesley had given me. "Oh, Willow's a thief!"

Willow dropped the card in shock and gave the bags to Stella. "I...I..."

"You switched the cards!" I said, walking closer to her.

Willow said, "So what? It's my father's money."

I said, "You're a liar! He's not your real father. He's mine, and you're just an illegitimate daughter."

Just then, Stella slapped me.
