Chapter 1 - The Stranger At The Bar.

"Please don't go!!"

She held on to his leg as he moved himself and his suitcase out of their apartment. She was crying without control and her breathing was chaotic. He glared at her in disgust as she sat on the floor in a pool of her own tears, begging him not to go.

"Skye let me go." His patience was running thin.

"No! I can't let you leave! We made promises! I will never do anything to hurt you I swear! You have to believe me." She screamed and sniffed back her tears but it only irritated her boyfriend the more, he pulled his leg forcefully from her, hitting her in the process, "King please! Let's talk this out!" But he didn't listen, instead he slammed the door right at her and her morale shattered.

Now he was her ex boyfriend.

Skye laid there for hours crying, wondering why it was always happening to her. She had loved him so much and they were the perfect couple, until rumours came out and everyone believed she was going out with her boss. King who was very short tempered and short sighted, also believed it.

Skye wasn't bothered until fake pictures started circulating. She knew it was because of his friends, they never liked her, they all seemed very shady so she always told King to be careful around their company.

Eventually Skye stopped crying and slept off, she felt it would be better if she slept on the floor, the only thing she had left was his hoodie and she wore it for days. For days, she was on the floor, slipping through consciousness, losing track of time but the pain in her heart only intensified when she realised that he wasn't coming back.

Skye had built everything she had, her riches and name, she was fortunate enough to be prosperous but the only thing she lacked was a relationship. She was damned to be single but she kept falling in love with people, only for them to leave her.

It was tragic.

"Skye! Skye!!" Loud banging before the door was pushed open, "Skye! Are you okay?!" The brunette made her way to her friend and lifted her up into a sitting position, "are you hurt? Do we need to call the police?" She examined her but when she locked eyes with her friend, she knew it was not an attack, "what's wrong?" Now her approach was softer.

"He left."

"Girl pick yourself up! He's gone, he's gone." Her bestie tried to pick her up but she was as heavy as a bag, "I told you he never loved you, he was just using you." She finally dragged her to her feet and pulled her into a deep embrace, kissing her messy blonde hair, "you are coming to stay with me. Everyone was worried at the office ya know?" She sat her on the bed and packed her things, "boss said there's a new mission he has for us, he trusts only us to do it, so we have to be there."

She announced and Skye flinched to life, she valued her work as much as her relationship. She was an investigator for the Financial Crime Commission and it was what kept her alive in dark moments like these.

"But before that, we should go have some fun." Arianna was done packing her suitcase and led her out of the house, the memories would no longer torture her.

Days passed and they went to numerous clubs, drinking as much as they could and having all the boys ask for their numbers. They were having the best time of their lives and slowly, Skye was forgetting that her ex had left her. She drowned each horror with alcohol and this night was no different.

She was tipsy. Very tipsy but she still wanted to drink more.

"Another one for the lady please, put it on my tab." Someone had ordered a drink for her.

She turned to see the most handsome man she had ever seen, hell she thought he wasn't real! He was perfect! Had a straight nose and his honey brown mane was well gelled and packed into a ponytail. He had frames on and even the mole just above his upper lip added to his beauty.

Skye blinked multiple times before her drink was brought, "thank you." She was able to form sentences despite her condition, but she still looked confused, her eyes shifting everywhere, not understanding what to do.

He noticed it and chuckled, even his baritone was alluring, "no one has ever bought you a drink?" He took a sip of his drink and flashed her a raised eyebrow with a cocky smile.

Her cheeks grew a bit pink as she stared at her drink, her vision blurred for a hot minute before she turned to him, "Skye." She stretched out her hand, he took it and placed a gentle kiss on it, nor breaking eye contact.

"Leonard." He slowly gave her back her hand, he admired her, how her lips pursed into a smile and her baby blue eyes put him under a spell. He wanted her to himself, "Would you like to dance?" He invited her and she thought for a while before agreeing.

They swayed to the dancefloor before swaying to the music, for the first time, Skye felt a wave of excitement rush over her, she had completely forgotten about King.

"You're a great dancer!" She said loud enough for him to hear her, her compliment led to him smiling.

"I'm also good at a lot of other things." He pulled her close and whispered into her ears. Skye's body tingled with excitement as he licked her earlobe. As they danced, he pulled her into a more secluded place, grinding and giving her drinks, Leonard too was getting drunk, he wanted the night to be memorable.

Hours had passed and everything was a blur, her eyes slowly fluttered open, registering where she was, it all looked so strange. What was stranger was that she was stark naked. She covered herself up as she tried to remember what happened last night.

She met a man, they danced, and now, he was gone. Her slender fingers traced her neck and she winced. Hickeys upon hickeys, did she have a one night stand? She moaned out of bed and got dressed after cleaning up, she had to get to work or she would never hear the end of it.

However she wished she could see the man again. Her body still tingled from his touch, her memory was coming back, the events of the heated night, she wanted to feel it again.

"You're coming in late after being gone for days, very unusual of you Skye." Her boss nagged her after she reached the office later than resumption time.

"I'm sorry boss, I'm here now, where's the file?" She was back in business and her boss, seeing that, nodded in approval. He pulled it out from the drawer and placed it in front of her.

The colour was black.

"A black file? Who is this person?" her fingers took the file in haste and she flipped the stack of papers open. Black files were given to criminals with high profile cases, and not everyone that handled a black file came back alive.

"One of the elites, it has been observed that he is using his company to carry out credit card fraud, so I need you to investigate and gather more evidence." he introduced the case to her.

"How much has he stolen? How has he not been caught yet?" She peered at her boss, her eyes held curiosity.

"He is most likely bypassing regular systems and using a private network to carry out the fraud. It's heavily guarded and we can't get in unless we sabotage from the inside. The billionaire runs a tech company so I'm not surprised." Her boss took off his glasses as he rubbed his face in exasperation.

"And his name?" She went back to the file and her eyes caught his picture, she let out a silent gasp.

"Leonard Keller, CEO of KCC, your next case."
