Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Envy of Villagers

The sun had barely risen when Li Qingyun and Li Jun reached their farmland. A thin mist still covered the soil, and the cool morning air carried the scent of damp earth.

Qingyun knelt down, running her fingers through the soil. It was still poor—dry and lacking nutrients. But that would change soon.

With the high-quality seeds she had bought and the spring water from her farming space, their crops would soon be the best in the village.

Li Jun looked around excitedly. "Jiejie, what should we plant first?"

Qingyun smiled. "We'll start with vegetables that grow fast—radishes, cabbage, and spring onions. They sell well in the market, and we'll have another harvest in no time."

She had planned everything carefully.

Step by step, their farm would prosper.

The Curious Onlookers

As they worked, villagers began to gather near their fields.

Aunt Wang, their neighbor, folded her arms and sniffed. "What's this? The Li family suddenly has money for new seeds?"

Uncle Guo, an older farmer, stroked his beard. "Didn't Qingyun sell out all her vegetables at the market yesterday? Maybe she made a good profit."

Aunt Wang scoffed. "Hmph! What nonsense. Even if she sold everything, how could she afford those seeds? I heard Old Zhang only sells them to rich families."

Murmurs spread among the villagers.

"She must have done something shady."

"Or maybe someone rich is secretly supporting her…"

Qingyun ignored them. She expected this.

In her past life, the villagers had always been jealous whenever someone did better than them. Instead of working harder, they would spread rumors and try to drag others down.

Not this time.

She stood up, brushing off the dirt on her hands. "If you're so curious, why don't you work harder yourselves? Maybe then you can afford better seeds too."

The villagers stiffened. Aunt Wang's face darkened. "You rude girl—"

Qingyun cut her off with a calm smile. "I'm just saying the truth, Aunt Wang. Instead of gossiping, wouldn't it be better to tend to your own fields?"

A few villagers looked embarrassed, realizing they had wasted time standing around.

Aunt Wang, however, wasn't done.

She snorted. "We'll see how well you do, little girl. Don't get too proud just yet."

With that, she stormed off, leaving the others to follow.

Li Jun pouted. "Jiejie, they're so annoying!"

Qingyun chuckled. "Let them talk. Soon, they'll have no choice but to admit our success."

A Secret Weapon

That night, after everyone had gone to sleep, Qingyun entered her farming space again.

She carried a wooden bucket, carefully scooping out some of the spiritual spring water.

She had already tested it—just a few drops mixed with regular water greatly improved crop growth.

Taking a deep breath, she poured the water over their fields.

In the moonlight, the soil shimmered faintly before absorbing the water completely.

Qingyun smiled.

Now, let's see how the villagers react when they see our crops grow faster than theirs.

This was just the beginning.
