Chapter 14 - The Weight of Wealth and the Pressure of Pre-Boards

November 20, 2008 (Thursday, 6:00 AM)

The morning sun crept through the faded curtains of Aritra's small room, casting a golden hue on the scattered books, notes, and the ever-reliable Legendary System interface glowing faintly on his desk. Aritra woke up to what felt like an ordinary day, but little did he know, today was anything but ordinary.

Yawning and stretching, he shuffled to his desk, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. His fingers moved instinctively, opening his account dashboard on the system.

Loading...

When the numbers appeared, Aritra blinked. Then he blinked again.

$30,000,000.00

The digits stared back at him, bold and unapologetic. His heart skipped a beat, then raced like he had just sprinted through the streets of Dakshin Barasat.

"Thirty million dollars?" he whispered, his voice trembling with disbelief and excitement.

For a moment, he just sat there, staring at the screen, letting the reality sink in. The quiet of the morning amplified the gravity of what had happened.

The Reaction:

He leaped from his chair, did an awkward victory dance, then sat back down, laughing to himself.

Okay, okay... breathe, Aritra. Think.

But thinking was hard when his mind was shouting, YOU'RE A MILLIONAIRE! over and over.

No one knew about his investments or the company he had created. Not his friends, not his parents. It was his secret world, hidden beneath the facade of a typical Class 12 student.

His phone buzzed. It was Deep.

Deep: "Oi, are you coming for tuition today?"

Aritra: "Yeah, of course. Just... revising some stuff."

Deep: "Same here. See you there." click

Aritra chuckled, shaking his head.

Planning Ahead:

The euphoria slowly faded, replaced by a more familiar feeling—the looming dread of the upcoming 12th pre-board exams, starting next Monday. The exams that would decide his eligibility for the final board exams.

From millionaire to stressed student in 0.5 seconds, he thought.

He opened his study planner, which was more of a chaotic list than an organized schedule.

Subjects:

Physics: Need to revise Optics and Modern Physics.

Chemistry: Organic reactions still feel like dark magic.

Mathematics: Calculus is friendly; Probability, not so much.

English: Just read the texts and hope for the best.

Bengali: Fluent in speaking, not in writing.

Study Mode:

He decided to start with Physics. The topic? Optics.

As he solved ray diagrams, his mind wandered back to the $30 million.

Should I invest more? Buy property? Maybe start another company?

Shaking his head, he refocused.

One problem at a time, Aritra. Literally.

Hours passed, interrupted only by his mother's calls for lunch and occasional texts from friends complaining about exam stress.

Evening Reflections:

By sunset, his brain felt fried, but the study guilt pushed him to keep going.

He opened Chemistry, groaning at the sight of organic reaction mechanisms.

"Why can't I just react positively with this subject?" he muttered.

After another grueling hour, he closed his books, leaned back, and stared at the ceiling.

Rich or not, exams don't care, he thought.

Night Routine:

Before sleeping, he checked his account one last time, the $30 million still sitting there, like a quiet reminder of his double life—a teenage millionaire struggling with high school exams.

Tomorrow, more studying. And maybe... a little planning for the future, he thought, drifting into sleep with a smile.
