Chapter 12 - Chapter 9: Grandma Carla

The System, with a hint of impatience in his digital voice, questioned, "And how are they going to know their feelings if they don't tell each other? Why is it so hard to accept that they like each other?" Ethan, with a resigned sigh, replied, "Wait, maybe at some point they'll figure it out." The System, after a dramatic pause, replied, "It's been like 300 chapters and there's nothing, not even a peck on the cheek." "Then let's switch to another manga," suggested Ethan. The System, however, insisted: "No, wait, there's no need. Maybe something will happen in this chapter." The System said so as he read on, engrossed in the plot. Ethan, with an expression that reflected his weariness, simply nodded. (Tonight looked like it was going to be a long night.)

As soon as he woke up, Ethan was surprised that the system had been silent, only giving him a good morning. Could it be that he had changed his mind? The plot was good in chapter 301, but it ended in nothing; the prince is innocent and doesn't realize anything. The author could have taken advantage of getting juice out of that chapter, it's a shame. Ethan thinks that as he looks at the flowers and the bird nesting in a tree.

The afternoon sun filtered through the leaves in the park, painting the ground a mosaic of light and shadow. Ethan, with a goofy grin on his face, was taking in the tranquility of the place. The gentle breeze caressed his face, carrying with it the scent of damp earth and freshly cut flowers.

"Taking a walk in the park is very relaxing, it was a good idea to have left my house" thought Ethan, with full satisfaction.

Suddenly, his gaze fell on a distant point. A friend, Owen, was chatting animatedly with an old woman with a kind face and bright eyes.

"I'll go say hello to my friend," Ethan decided, making his way toward them briskly.

"Hey, buddy, how's it going?" greeted Ethan, in a cheerful tone.

"Hey, all good. Meet my grandmother, Carla," replied Owen, with a warm smile.

"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Carla. My name is Ethan Miller," Ethan introduced himself, bowing politely.

"Hello, boy, you've got some good manners. You should learn some, Owen," Grandma Carla said, with a sly smile.

"Yeah..." muttered Owen, with a little embarrassment.

"Ethan, you come here for a walk, don't you?" asked Grandma Carla, watching Ethan curiously.

"Yes," replied Ethan, nodding his head.

"Will you join us?" asked Grandma Carla, with a look full of kindness.

"Sorry for the inconvenience, wouldn't you mind if you joined us?" asked Owen, with a kind tone.

"No, I didn't have anything to do either," Ethan replied, with a smile.

"Let's go, youngsters, it's going to be late," Grandma Carla said, with a sweet look.

Ethan was surprised to find that Grandma Carla had invited him to go shopping with them.

"So it was shopping... ehm...," Ethan thought, scratching the back of his neck a little sheepishly.

"You're a nice young man...don't you want something? You've helped me, so I want to make it up to you," Grandma Carla said, with a warm smile.

"This boy hasn't reproached anything, I should give him something. I hope he doesn't ask for anything expensive," Grandma Carla thought, with a look full of concern.

"He should respond to Grandma's expectation," thought Ethan, looking at Carla's stats.

Grandma Carla, with a slow, leisurely walk, led Ethan and Owen toward the mall.

"I'll take this, then," said Ethan, pointing to a Pek chocolate with a coy gesture.

"A Pek chocolate?" asked Owen, with a smirk.

"Well, it's not for me, but for my mom, since she likes sweets," Ethan explained, with a soft tone.

"Aren't you going to order another?" asked Owen, with a surprised look.

"This is enough. I don't have an appetite for candy right now," Ethan replied, with a smile.

"Thanks for helping us out. I see you're a good friend. I hope you'll come visit us sometime," Grandma Carla said, with a warm smile.

"It wasn't much. Besides, I'll have to go play basketball with my friend at some point," Ethan replied, with a cheerful tone.

"Thanks, bro, see you tomorrow," Owen said, with a friendly tone.

"Ya, bro, see you tomorrow," replied Ethan, with a smile.
