Li Jun, perhaps accustomed to such situations, quickly clarified: "My father is Li Gang, the sales department manager at Jingyang Group, and Liu Zheng's uncle is Song Jianguo, also from Jingyang Group."
The man in the white shirt narrowed his eyes, saying nothing but "I see." He then asked the arriving officers for a report.
However, when Zachary heard "Song Jianguo of Jingyang Group," his eyes reddened, and he walked towards Liu Zheng.
Liu Zheng had sat up. Zachary's kick, though seemingly fierce, had been light. Zachary asked, "Is Song Jianguo your maternal uncle?"
Liu Zheng, seeing Zachary's fierce face, nodded, fear evident. "Yes."
Zachary thought, "My parents died in a car accident orchestrated by Song Jianguo. Are they trying to kill me now?" He wanted to kill Liu Zheng, but reason prevailed.
Penelope, having overheard Li Jun's conversation, saw Zachary's distress and hugged him, saying, "Zachary, don't be impulsive. You have me now. My family and I are your support!"
Zachary took a deep breath, calming down. He reasoned that Song Jianguo was in a precarious position and wouldn't act now, especially not through his nephew. Still, he needed to vent. He looked at the sports car.
He smashed the windshield and windows, then used a brick to destroy the car's body. The crowd cheered.
Liu Zheng yelled, "You'll pay for this! My car cost millions!"
Zachary ignored him. The police, seeing the crowd, took everyone to the station.
Wang Jian, after a phone call, went as a witness. He greeted the man in the white shirt, "Director Wang, I'm Wang Jian, secretary to a Jiangzhou official. I'm a witness."
Director Wang watched Wang Jian join Penelope and Zachary.
At the station, surveillance footage confirmed the incident. Director Wang was relieved. A major accident had been averted.
He thought, "I'll get free meals from the traffic police this time." He instructed his officers to follow protocol.
Liu Zheng, seeing the police's attitude, admitted to drunk driving, speeding, and running a red light. He denied other charges, accusing Zachary of destroying his property.
Zachary scoffed, saying, "Your family stole the money for that car from me." He called a number.
"I'm Song Jianguo," a voice said. "Who are you?"
"Mr. Song, it's Zachary. Do you remember your nephew?"
Silence. "What do you want?"
"Today, my girlfriend and I were nearly hit by a car driven by Liu Zheng, running a red light. It could have been like my parents' accident."
"Your parents' death had nothing to do with me! This has nothing to do with me either."
"Really? Liu Zheng is the driver. Want to talk to him? I suspect premeditated murder."
"Give the phone to Liu Zheng." Zachary heard Song Jianguo's suppressed anger.
Liu Zheng had scoffed at Zachary's call, but when Zachary offered the phone, he hesitated.
Zachary smiled, "He doesn't believe it's you. I'll hang up."
Liu Zheng said, "You're a joke. If you apologize, I might not make you pay for the car. Who do you think you are, calling my uncle? You're delusional."
Zachary ignored him. Liu Zheng's phone rang. It was Song Jianguo.
Liu Zheng answered, and Song Jianguo's furious voice echoed in the room.
Zachary watched Liu Zheng turn pale, then left the room.
Director Wang said, "They dropped the charges. You can leave. He'll be detained, possibly prosecuted."
Zachary thanked him and left with Penelope and Wang Jian.
