Chapter 35 - Chapter 32: Coronation of the Eclipse Empress

The rebellion had been crushed. The old gods had been silenced. The world itself trembled beneath the weight of Xel'Varyn's growing power. But an empire could not be ruled by war alone.

It needed structure. Order. A symbol that would forever etch her name into history.

And so, the Coronation of the Eclipse Empress was declared.

The night of the ceremony, Black Hollow—the heart of her empire—was transformed. Thousands of banners bearing her sigil lined the streets, glowing with runic enchantments that pulsed like a living heartbeat. The people, dressed in dark silks and armor, gathered beneath the towering citadel, whispering her name in reverence.

At the center of it all, Xel'Varyn stood upon the Eclipse Throne.

Her six arms were adorned with rings of power, her chitinous right arm gleaming with dark energy, and her crown—newly forged from the remains of fallen gods—floated just above her head, as if even reality itself dared not touch it.

Thalira Moonweaver, her most trusted sorceress, stepped forward, raising an ancient tome. The words she spoke had not been uttered in thousands of years.

"By blood, by shadow, by the will of the Eternal Eclipse, we name Xel'Varyn the Sovereign of the Abyss, the Keeper of the Unseen, and the Empress of the Eclipse Empire!"

A wave of dark energy exploded from the throne, sweeping over the gathered crowd. A binding contract of power was formed between ruler and ruled, marking the true birth of her empire.

And then, as if in response, the skies cracked open.

A single celestial body—a black sun, ringed in crimson flame—appeared in the heavens, aligning perfectly above Black Hollow. It was not natural. It was an anomaly of her own making.

The people fell to their knees.

They did not just see a queen. They saw a goddess.

The Gathering of the Generals

With her empire officially forged, Xel'Varyn turned her attention to the next phase of conquest.

Seated within her war chamber, her most trusted generals gathered:

Edwin, the Shadow Fang – Spymaster and face of her intelligence network. His eyes saw all, and his knives struck without warning.

Thalira Moonweaver – High Sorceress and master of arcane warfare. A scholar of forbidden knowledge and eldritch power.

Victor Dain, the Warlord of Dusk – Her first husband and general of the Eclipse Guard. Loyal, ruthless, and bound to her by blood and fire.

Kalthar Bloodfury – The chieftain of the barbarian tribes who had sworn fealty. A beast of a man, clad in war trophies and battle scars.

Maps of uncharted territories lay before them, marking the lands that still resisted her rule.

"The Kingdom of Solrath still lingers in the west," Edwin began, tapping a blood-red dagger against the table. "The remnants of the royal family are rallying what forces they have left. They may attempt one final desperate strike."

"They're rats scrambling in the dark," Kalthar grunted. "Let me take my warriors and put an end to them."

"No," Xel'Varyn said, her voice carrying the weight of undeniable authority. "Solrath will fall, but not yet. I want them to suffer under the weight of their own fear first. Let their people see the futility of resistance. Then, when they are at their weakest, we will take what is left."

Kalthar nodded, grinning. "You are cruel, my Empress. I like it."

She turned to Victor. "And what of the northern kingdoms?"

Victor's expression darkened. "We intercepted reports that one of them has forged an alliance with an external force. Something… not of this world."

Thalira exhaled sharply. "Interference from another plane?"

Victor nodded. "It appears so. We need to be ready."

Xel'Varyn's fingers drummed against the table, her mind already weaving possibilities.

"Then it's time we test the full power of the Eclipse Empire."

The March of the Eclipse Army

Three days later, the first legion of the Eclipse Empire marched from Black Hollow.

Thousands of soldiers, clad in armor blackened by shadow-forging, moved like a single entity, their banners fluttering beneath the gaze of the Black Sun. At their head, Xel'Varyn rode upon a steed wreathed in abyssal flames, the mere sight of her sending shivers of dread through all who watched.

The invasion had begun.

Solrath would burn.

The northern kingdoms would kneel.

And soon, the entire world would be reshaped in her image.
