Chapter 1 - The Bond That Broke

Ravi and Raj had been best friends since childhood, sharing everything from school lunches to their deepest secrets. "Remember when we used to dream about being superheroes?" Ravi chuckled, kicking a pebble on the sidewalk. Raj smirked. "Yeah, except we actually became them." They had kept their identities hidden for years—Ravi as Cool Man and Raj as Sick Man. Their abilities set them apart from the world, but their friendship kept them grounded. However, a shadow from their past still loomed over them—one they could never forget.

That shadow was Rana, the friend who had once been a part of their unbreakable trio. "Do you ever think about him?" Raj asked quietly as they walked home. Ravi sighed. "All the time." Rana had been their closest friend, but something had changed in him. His anger grew stronger over the years, and before they knew it, he had become someone else entirely. Now, he was known as Angry Man, a feared villain. Yet, deep down, Ravi and Raj still remembered the boy they had once laughed with.

Their past together had been filled with adventures, mischief, and dreams of doing something great. "He wasn't always like this," Raj muttered. "We used to be happy." Ravi nodded, recalling the countless times they had sat on rooftops, watching the stars, talking about their future. "He used to say we'd always be together," Ravi said softly. But time had a way of changing people. Rana's once warm heart had turned cold, his trust in friendship shattered by something neither of them could understand.

The weight of their memories hung heavily between them. "Do you think we failed him?" Raj asked suddenly. Ravi hesitated. "I don't know," he admitted. "Maybe we didn't see the signs. Maybe we could've done more." It was a painful thought, but one that never left their minds. They had tried to reach out to Rana in the past, but he had pushed them away. No matter how much they wanted to fix things, some wounds ran too deep.

Despite everything, they still hoped that somewhere beneath the anger, Rana was still their friend. "What if he's just lost?" Raj suggested. "What if we can bring him back?" Ravi wanted to believe that. He wanted to believe that their bond could withstand anything. But the reality was different. "We can't change someone who doesn't want to be saved," he said. It was a bitter truth, one that hurt more than any battle ever could.

As they reached their usual meeting spot—a small rooftop overlooking the city—Raj sat down, deep in thought. "If we ever get the chance to talk to him again… what would you say?" Ravi didn't answer right away. He stared at the city lights below, wondering if Rana was out there, watching them too. "I'd tell him that we never stopped being his friends," he finally said. "Even if he thinks otherwise." The night breeze carried his words away, but in his heart, he meant every single one.

The city felt different that night, as if it, too, was waiting for something to happen. "Do you think he ever regrets leaving us?" Raj asked. Ravi shook his head. "I don't know. But I do know that he doesn't see us as friends anymore." That was the hardest part to accept. They had been through so much together, yet now, they stood on opposite sides. "Maybe one day, he'll remember what we had," Ravi added, his voice barely above a whisper. "Or maybe we'll always just be his enemies."

Silence stretched between them as they sat together, lost in thought. "Whatever happens," Raj said, breaking the quiet, "we still have each other." That was one thing they could always count on. Their friendship had survived years of secrets, challenges, and now even loss. "Yeah," Ravi agreed. "And no matter what, we won't let his anger define us." It was a promise—one they intended to keep.

As they left the rooftop, neither of them spoke. Their minds were filled with unspoken thoughts, their hearts heavy with memories of the friend they had lost. "Goodnight, Raj," Ravi finally said, forcing a small smile. Raj nodded. "Goodnight, Ravi." As they walked their separate ways, they both knew that things would never be the same. But deep down, they still held onto the smallest hope—that one day, Rana would find his way back to them.
