Chereads / SSS-Ranked Demon Hunter / Chapter 2 - Clan Leader

Chapter 2 - Clan Leader

Well then, I guess it's time to check out this system.

I focused my mind on the system, willing it to appear in my vision once again.

One by one, I went through each category. All it took was a deeper level of focus to bring up a short description of what I wanted to know.

[Affinity: Determines what type of weapon or combat style you are suited for. Most combat abilities you gain will be related to your specific affinity.]

This was self-explanatory and common knowledge to all humans.

[Rank: Determines your potential, and directly affects all aspects of your growth and progression within the system]

The ranking system was also common knowledge to all humans. The higher the rank you are given, the stronger you can become.

For example, a rookie A-Ranker may still be weaker than an experienced B-Ranker, as they haven't had as much time to refine and progress within their system.

This was directly connected to the next area.

[Heart Level: The source of your power. Indicates the level of mastery you have over your system.]

Everyone started at level 1 in this aspect, and the further you levelled up, the more abilities you would earn.

This could be levelled up in many ways, but the most efficient has been known to be combat. Whether that be against demons or other humans.

Finally, I was at the good parts. My abilities.

[Sakura Step: Cover a distance of up to twenty meters with just one step.]

[Distortion Slash: Send an arc of distorted energy from your sword, damaging your opponent severely.]

These were of most interest to me. With my heart level at only 1, I had already been granted an incredible movement ability, as well as an offensive one.

In the future, I would also be able to level up these abilities, making them even stronger.

I guess this is the benefit of being granted the SSS rank...

My brain still struggled to comprehend that.

My title didn't seem to give me any information, no matter how hard I focused on it.

[The Prodigal Son]

I mused over its meaning, but I had no idea of what it could entail.

Was I being granted some sort of passive ability because of it? Was it related to why I had been given such a high rank, despite not being worthy of it?

How was worth even determined?

I had a lot of questions to ask, with no source of answers.

Finally, I reached the end of my system, with only one last thing to focus on.

My Unique Attribute

[Realm of the Forgotten Flower: Draw targets into a pocket dimension]

"..."

It was this ability that brought me the most confusion.

Not only was it incredibly vague, but I had never heard of anything like it before.

A pocket dimension, huh?

I decided that I would have to try it soon, but at that moment, I had no time.

Hurried footsteps began to make their way over to the room before the door was pushed open aggressively.

Standing there was a formidable woman.

Her hair was long and pink, cascading down to her lower back. Like mine, his skin was tanned. Her body was curvy, yet well-defined from vigorous activity. She wore black robes that flowed loosely around her form.

Her vibrant green eyes glared at me as I stood in the center of the dojo.

On either side of her were her guards. I never knew why she bothered bringing them with her.

After all, she was the clan leader. Anyone that she couldn't handle would destroy her guards with no difficulty at all.

"Aegi was right," The Clan leader said, taking a step inside the dojo, keeping her eyes on me the entire time. "Your power is incredible... What is your name?"

I had to swallow my disappointment.

The clan leader doesn't even know me... After I've been here for sixteen years.

I knew that I hardly stood out. There were many other prospects around my age that were expected to awaken a high rank, and I wasn't one of them.

But that didn't matter anymore.

It turned out that I was the true prospect.

"My name is Lotus, Lady Prelia," I announced respectfully.

She continued to slowly make her way towards me, her entourage close behind her as though they were walking towards a wild demon.

"Is what Sensei Aegi tells me true? Have you awakened the SSS-Rank?" Prelia asked whilst keeping her eyes locked onto mine.

I slowly nodded my head, earning myself a gasp from those in the room with me. Sensei Aegi lurked near the entrance, as though an unseen energy was keeping him from stepping any closer.

Lady Prelia, the Clan Leader, stood still, rubbing her hand on her chin. Instinctively, my eyes glared down to the sword at her hip.

The Fourth Moon Blade. Fourth strongest sword in the southern region of the world. Through generations it had been wielded by several clan leaders, aiding the Dojin in their battles against the demons and other clans.

Now, it lay in the hand of Prelia.

"Show me." The Clan Leader said after a few moments spent in thought. "Show me one of your abilities, it will prove the credibility of your words."

The others around her seemed to jolt at her proposition.

It was fear. In their minds, if I spoke the truth, then who knew what an ability of mine could do to them at such close range.

But they were forced to stay. They were the guards after all. If something were to happen to Prelia in their absence, then they would be executed anyway.

I took in a deep breath as the group of Dojin clan members glared at me, waiting.

Well, I was going to have to try them out eventually.

Let's start with my unique attribute.

I was excited for what was about to happen. Despite now being of the SSS rank myself, I had never even laid eyes on an ability above S-Rank.

Here goes nothing...

Using the ability was easy. All it required was that I knew the name of the ability that I wished to use and willed it into existence.

My mind focused on the words of the ability.
