I looked inside the backpack, my eyes looking over the clothes, the spare shoes, pants, underwear, and more importantly, Wet wipes and toilet paper.
I was ready, apparently.
I sighed, sipping the bag closed and putting it on my back, sliding my hand into the openings, and clipping the two traps together in front of me.
Putting my hands in my pockets, I moved towards the door, opened it, and stepped out, walking down the stairs into the living room and right in front of the entrance of the house.
I moved towards the entrance, hoping that it would be the last time I saw it.
"Are you ready to head out?"
I paused at the deep voice, before moving forward and crouching down to take out my boots, not even looking back at the person.
"Yeah..."
I muttered, putting on my shoes and tying the laces.
"Do good out there, boy, make me proud."
I rolled my eyes at that, standing up and walking out the front door, not even sparing a glance at my father.
Closing the door behind me, I walked out of the yard, looking up at the cloudless sky for a moment before sighing and walking down the road, passing a few houses.
Soon enough, I was staring up at the large building, which was the school I went to.
I stared at it for a moment, processing the fact that I would not see it for a long, long time.
I heard hurried footsteps behind me, and sighed, knowing exactly who it was. I braced myself for a second, before I felt a sudden weight on my back, the force of the impact making me take a few steps forward, to balance myself.
The arms wrapped around my neck were familiar as a warm cheek was pressed to my own.
"Hey!"
I smiled at the excited tone of the voice as I turned my head, my eyes locking into the brown orbs of Aria.
"Hello to you too."
She smiled back, getting off of me and grabbing my hand, dragging me towards the school.
"Are you excited? We're about to go up a year! We can finally travel!"
I chuckled as I sped up my pace slightly to fall into step next to her as we walked.
"Yeah, yeah..."
I muttered. I wasn't excited at all, I was uneasy, it would be a change, a change to the normal that I was used to, it wasn't my cup of tea, it was my father's specialty, not mine.
And Arias, apparently, she seemed ecstatic, positively vibrating in anticipation.
I followed her as she led the way into the school, passing through the large double doors and into the building itself. After passing through the hallways and pasting the other students, we finally reached the classroom we had been in for the past two years.
The Principal, Clavell, was an older man with white hair and glasses. He wore a white suit, the only distinguishable part being the purple blazer on his otherwise white clothes.
He looked over at us, raising an impressed eyebrow.
"Early as ever, Aria, Eric."
He nodded in approval and motioned toward the teacher's desk where Aria dragged me over as she stood in front of it for a moment, looking down at the red and white balls that were sitting on top of it.
I stood to the side, watching her as she looked them over with interest.
"Since you two were one of the three top scorers, you are able to..."
Clavell started explaining, but before he could finish, he was cut off by Aria, who pointed at the middle ball, looking up at the older man with a grin.
"I choose this one."
He blinked out of surprise, and I just deadpanned in exasperation.
Really, this girl never changed.
And it seemed like the director thought the same, as he just signed and nodded.
"Very well."
He spoke, motioning her to pick up the ball. She did so, grabbing it and looking at it for a moment with bated breath. before she pressed the button that was in the middle of it.
The ball snapped open, Blue light springing out of the inside as it fell on the table.
A moment later, two gray eyes stared up at us.
"Fue?"
I smiled slightly, watching the small Bipedal fire alligator staring up at Aria for a moment before it raised its small arms.
"Fue!"
Aria smiled, picking up the Fuecoco and holding it to her chest.
"Fuecoco, an excellent choice for your first partner."
Clavell nodded in approval, reaching inside his pocket, taking out two phones, and extending them to us.
"I assume you two know what these two are?"
I nodded, taking the red phone that was extended towards me. I looked at the screen as it blared to life. Two eyes stared at me before moving toward the top of the screen, revealing the map app, the Pokedex app, and a few others that you would normally find on a phone.
"Now, Eric, I have been informed by your father that he already provided you with a partner yesterday evening, is that correct?"
I looked up at the director for a moment before nodding, reaching for my belt, and taking off a small ball that was attached to the side.
Pressing the button in the middle, it grew in size, and with another press, it snapped open, in another flash of blue light, a blue frog with what looked like foam around its neck stared up at me for a moment, before looking around at the new faces.
"Fro?"
it questioned for a moment, before looking back up at me and jumping into my arms, climbing onto my shoulder.
"Ah, I see, very well."
The director nodded in acceptance and looked over at Aria for a moment, who was hugging Fuecoco to her chest, and at me before smiling.
"Congratulations you two, I am proud to announce that the two of you will be joining the trainer ranks of the school."
I hummed, raising my hand and scratching Froakie's neck, getting a pleased croak in return at the announcement.
"Okay thank you, director, bye!"
My hand was grabbed again, and I was yanked to the side as Aria dragged me out of the classroom, followed by a startled croak from Froakie as he clung to my shoulder tighter.
This was my life now...
