The creaking and swaying of the carriage filled the air as Mirian and Ryder sat opposite each other. It would be weird if the atmosphere was peaceful or lively.
Mirian's eyes blazed with indignation as she glared intently at Ryder, while he, on the other hand, appeared utterly relaxed, his eyes closed, and head resting against the carriage wall.
"Do you find me so alluring, Mirian?" Ryder's voice was low and smooth, his words dripping with amusement, despite his eyes remaining shut. "You've been staring for over thirty minutes."
Mirian scowled, but beneath her indignation, a flutter in her chest betrayed her true feelings. She couldn't deny the attraction she felt towards Ryder - every woman would feel some degree of attraction towards him, until he opened his mouth.
But that wasn't the point here. For some reason, she had this growing sense to protect her Luna from this homme fatale's allure. Her instincts told her that Ryder was bad news to the Luna.
