Chapter 7:The Eerie Shadows in the Misty Forest
After leaving the ruins,Lin Shen,Ye Ying,and Yin Yue followed the guidance of the ancient texts and headed towards the Misty Forest.Along the way,the desolate landscape gradually gave way to dense vegetation.However,the eerie mist that filled the forest made them feel inexplicably uneasy.The mist was as thick as ink,and they could not see their hands in front of their faces.They could only grope forward based on their vague sense of direction.
Suddenly,Yin Yue pricked up her ears and let out a low growl.Immediately after,Ye Ying also sensed something amiss.He tightened his grip on the blade in his hand and whispered,"Be careful,there's something nearby."As soon as he finished speaking,a dark figure sped past through the dense fog,so fast that no one could see it clearly.Lin Shen immediately focused his mind,trying to use the crystal in his hand to sense the surroundings.However,the mist seemed to interfere with the power of the crystal,causing its light to become faint and unstable.
"This mist is very strange;it seems to be hindering us,"Lin Shen said,his brows furrowed and his expression serious.
At that moment,eerie sounds came from all directions,like the whispers of some creature or the rustling of leaves in the wind,but with a chilling coldness in the sound.Yin Yue's fur stood on end,and she kept turning her head,vigilantly watching the surroundings.Ye Ying protected Lin Shen behind him,his eyes sharp as he tried to catch a glimpse of the enemy in the fog.
Another dark figure flashed before their eyes.This time,Ye Ying reacted quickly and swung his blade.A sharp cry was heard,and the dark figure disappeared into the mist."I think I hurt it,"Ye Ying said.
However,before they could catch their breath,more dark figures surged from all directions.These figures were elusive and hard to grasp,swirling around Lin Shen and the others at high speed and occasionally launching attacks.Lin Shen noticed that the dark figures seemed to be wary of the crystal's light.Whenever he waved the crystal,the figures would slightly retreat.
"It seems the crystal still has some deterrent effect on them,"Lin Shen said,trying hard to keep the crystal's light stable.
Ye Ying continued to swing his blade,engaging in close combat with the dark figures.His movements were agile and powerful,each attack delivered with a fierce momentum.But there were too many dark figures,and their attacks were unpredictable,making it impossible to guard against them.
In the intense battle,Lin Shen gradually realized that the actions of the dark figures seemed to be controlled by some force.He calmed himself down,carefully observing the movement patterns of the dark figures,and finally spotted a shadowy figure hidden deep in the mist.The figure seemed to be holding some kind of magical instrument that emitted a faint glow.
"Ye Ying,I've found the one controlling these dark figures!"Lin Shen shouted,pointing into the depths of the mist.
Upon hearing this,Ye Ying immediately charged towards the direction Lin Shen was pointing.He dodged the attacks of the dark figures as he moved through the mist and finally got close to the mysterious figure.Just as he was about to reach it,the figure suddenly vanished,leaving behind a sinister laugh.
"Don't think you can run!"Ye Ying roared,continuing to search through the mist.
At the same time,Lin Shen was also struggling to fend off the attacks of the dark figures.He kept trying to activate the power of the crystal,hoping to break through the obstruction of the mist.After repeated attempts,the crystal finally emitted a strong beam of light.The light,like a sword,instantly pierced through the thick mist.
As the mist dissipated,they found themselves in an ancient forest.The trees around them were huge and twisted,with their roots exposed on the ground,forming a complex network of trenches.The dark figures gradually disappeared under the illumination of the crystal's light.
However,before they could take in the surroundings,a deep roar came from deep within the forest.This sound was more terrifying than any danger they had encountered before,as if an ancient beast was awakening.Yin Yue trembled with fear,and Ye Ying's face turned very pale.
"It looks like we have new trouble,"Lin Shen took a deep breath,tightened his grip on the crystal,and prepared to face the new challenge.
