Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: I’m So Stupid

"Noah, how did you do it?"

After class, Noah was surrounded by his roommates, as expected.

Looking at the curious faces of the three boys, Noah felt both amused and helpless. It wasn't just them—or even just the students of Ravenclaw. Almost everyone in the classroom was looking at him with varying degrees of curiosity.

Because what Noah had done was truly astonishing!

Although the Wingardium Leviosa charm wasn't a difficult spell—it was, in fact, one of the most basic—mastering it so quickly was no small feat.

Most first-years struggled with spell control. They had no real grasp of their magical reserves, and even a simple levitation charm could take multiple attempts before they got it right.

But Noah?

He had done it flawlessly on his first try.

Even Professor Flitwick had praised the elegance of his spellwork and awarded Ravenclaw ten points for his performance.

To make things even more ridiculous, word had already spread across the school that Noah had been daydreaming before casting the spell.

In other words, he had barely even practiced before pulling it off!

How terrifying was that level of talent?

"Come on, guys, it really wasn't that big of a deal." Noah shook his head helplessly. "Believe me, this is just a fundamental spell. It's not as difficult as you think—just focus on controlling your magic properly."

"Really? Then why did you get it in one try, while we've been struggling this whole time?" Kenn asked skeptically.

Noah just shrugged. He couldn't offer them an explanation they would accept. Surely, other prodigies existed in the world, right?

But then—

A thought struck him.

He had been too focused on proving his personal talent.

Wouldn't it be better if people believed his skills were the result of hard work rather than some unnatural genius?

Hard work was something others could see and admire. But if he kept standing out too much, people might grow wary of him instead.

Besides, Hogwarts was full of talented students.

If he could gather some of them under his wing, wouldn't that be even better?

That was when it hit him—

"I've been so stupid."

No matter how powerful a wizard he became, there would always be things he couldn't do alone. Even the most powerful beings in history didn't work alone.

Even Gods weren't omnipotent.

Powerful factions, alliances, and connections mattered just as much as personal strength.

"The world hasn't spiraled into chaos just yet. The X-Men and Brotherhood haven't caused large-scale conflicts. Tony Stark should have only just started his redemption arc. Nick Fury probably still has hair. I might still be young, but I can't afford to waste time. I need to start laying the groundwork now."

Hogwarts was an academy—and an excellent place to build a network of talented individuals.

Every year, roughly 250 new witches and wizards were admitted. If he could find a way to recruit and nurture the best of them, he could build something powerful—something that could shape the future.

"Why limit myself to just being a powerful wizard? If I play my cards right, the entire British wizarding world could be within my sphere of influence someday!"

Noah smiled at the thought but quickly restrained himself.

He was getting ahead of himself. He had nothing right now.

He needed to take things one step at a time.

"What are you thinking about, Noah?" Evan asked, noticing that Noah had fallen into deep thought.

"Nothing," Noah replied, snapping out of it. He hesitated, then sighed. "Okay, fine. I'll admit… this wasn't my first time casting the spell."

"What?!"

Evan, Kenn, and Lance all looked utterly shocked.

What was going on here?

Had someone taught Noah magic before he came to Hogwarts?

As wizard-born students, they had grown up in magical households. They had been exposed to magic their entire lives.

Yet Noah, a so-called Muggle-born, was telling them he had already learned spells before coming to school?!

Had he been secretly trained by someone?

Was he really Muggle-born?

"Keep your voices down," Noah scolded in a hushed tone. "I don't want everyone knowing about this."

Then, without another word, he turned and walked away.

"Want to know the truth? Follow me."

The three boys exchanged uncertain glances.

Finally, Kenn was the first to move. He was too curious to let it go.

Lance and Evan quickly followed. They were roommates, after all. Their friendship had already started to solidify, just like their parents' friendships had when they were students at Hogwarts.

They trusted each other.

And if Noah was willing to share his secret with them, they wouldn't hesitate to have his back.

Following Noah's lead, they didn't return to the Ravenclaw common room.

Instead, they headed up—all the way to the eighth floor.

It was where the Headmaster's office was located.

And more importantly—

Professor Flitwick's office.

Evan and the others felt their confusion deepen.

Could it be that Dumbledore or Flitwick had been secretly training Noah all along?
