Chapter 2 - Samantha Vale

~ LOCATION - Z TECH 4:15 AM~

Darian sat back in his chair, a small smile dancing on his lips as his mind wandered back to the lady he had met at the club earlier tonight. He was never interested in looking at any women but she was different. The feeling he never remembered feeling since all these years came back to him.

"Did you have a great time, your highness?" Lior, his assistant's voice pulled him out of his thoughts, earning him a cold glare. "Now, now, you seem amused. Should I take that as something interesting happening?"

Lior didn't let his cold glare intimidate him as he walked closer, placing a file before Darian who remained silent as his gaze landed on the file.

"I met someone today… I could smell her fragrance and the migraines disappeared." Darian said calmly, leaning back in his seat as he stared up at Lior who was too shocked to even speak.

"That's impossible. Even the strongest scent couldn't get through you and now you did get your sense of smell back?"

"It was only for a few minutes that she was next to me." Darian corrected, the smile which had disappeared from his lips returning as he stared out at the dark city.

Now I really am more interested in her.

Samantha stood in front of the door, waiting for it to swing open and in just a few seconds, it did. Her best friend, Kaia standing on the other side of the door in her pajamas while glaring at the one who had just interrupted her beauty sleep. Her short black hair with blue tips was up in a messy bun with some of her freckles being hidden a bit by the heavy glasses she had on for some reason.

"You've got the key Samantha, you have the keys." Kaia groaned, pointing towards her bags before taking a long sigh. "Come in, what's wrong?"

"I think I'm gonna be fired." We're the first words Samantha uttered as she stepped into the small apartment. Kaia didn't say a word of consolation and just walked over the fridge to hand her a can of beer which she took, gulping it down with tears in her eyes. "Not only once, but twice I spilled drinks all over an elite customer. A demon probably."

Kaia spat out the drink in her mouth, almost choking. "Are you insane? You dumped drinks all over an elite demon who is probably in the highest of high? Do you have a death wish?"

"That's not the troublesome part. I did it twice and the other while going to his room to serve apology drinks. And he hasn't said a word to boss." She tapped her fingers against the beer can nervously, making Kaia stare at her for what felt like an eternity before pulling off the fake glasses she had on.

"Look, Samantha, I think the most suitable solution now is to find a way to flee this city because those rich men being quiet is never a good sign." Kaia advised, nodding continuously like she was advising herself. "You can maybe live on the farm, I have an uncle on the farm. Or go to the navy, then you'll never be found."

"Or, maybe he has forgiven me?" Samantha peeked up at her nervously, knowing exactly what she would say next.

"He was probably wearing designer clothes right?" Samantha nodded to her question. "And the drinks spilled over his shirt, pants and shoes right?" Samantha nodded for the second time but what she got was a hit on the head. "Of course, he's forgiven you because you gave the clothes to him as a present and probably the shoe which costs hundreds of millions, right?"

She was right, and there was no way he would let it go for a second time. He would most probably think it was intentional and the thoughts of it made her tremble. Would she get to her shift tomorrow and get whisked off by some big shot just because she spilled drinks all over him? It's starting to look like she will be.

"I really shouldn't have taken that extra shift. If it wasn't for that woman…"

Her words were cut short by the buzzing of her phone. Staring at the screen, she cursed inwardly. She seriously shouldn't have said a word about her and now, speak of the devil. "Where the hell have you been, Samantha. Do you intend to starve me to death? I need some freaking food."

"But aunt, I left enough food before–"

"Are you crazy? You want me eating scraps for what reason? I don't get a decent meal in the next ten minutes, you can search for whoever it was who raised you in place of those dead parents of yours." Her aunt spat from the other side of the phone before hanging up.

Samantha left the phone close to her ear for close to a minute, trembling in frustration. She just had to do as she had asked. It was the least she could do.

"More issues?" Kaia asked, raising a brow and all she got was a soft hum. "I've got a lot of food mum sent for the weekend and I probably won't be finishing in a week. You can take them and save for the hospital bills, okay?"

Samantha flashed her a warm smile. "You're a lifesaver, Kaia."

Kaia had always been nice to her. Besides, they were childhood friends and she knew everything happening in Samantha's life. And how she was bound to her aunt. They did send their entire savings on raising her well, this was the least she could do to pay them back.

"You wretched orphan?" A loud scream pulled her out of her thoughts as a vase came flying, missing her barely by an inch. "You are so useless, just like your uncle laying there in the hospital almost lifeless. Get me something to eat before I scar that ugly face of

yours."

"Y-yes aunt Sonya."
