We didn't wait to see if the figure would come closer. We turned and ran, our feet pounding against the earth as we desperately sought to escape.
"Where are we going?" Aria yelled, her voice barely audible over the sound of our own panicked breathing.
"I don't know!" I shouted back, my eyes scanning the darkness for any sign of safety.
We stumbled through the underbrush, our flashlights casting wild shadows on the trees. The others were right behind us, their own panic-stricken faces illuminated by the faint moonlight.
And then, suddenly, we burst into a small clearing. In the center of the clearing stood an old, dilapidated cabin.
"In here!" Alex yelled, grabbing the door handle and yanking it open.
We poured inside, slamming the door shut behind us. We leaned against it, panting, our hearts still racing with fear.
But as we looked around, we realized that we might not be safe after all. The cabin was old and decrepit, the windows boarded up. And on the walls, scrawled in blood, was a message:
"You'll never leave."
