Chereads / Danmachi: The Bartender / Chapter 4 - 4- The Dungeon

Chapter 4 - 4- The Dungeon

Aragon swatted a war shadow into the wall as he continued down the dungeon. 'Haven't had to activate Thirteen or anything yet. Then again I'm only on the sixth floor.'

Aragon sighed as he threw a rock into another warshadow, killing it.

'...Should I pick up the stones? ...Nah.'

Aragon walked down the stairs to floor seven, instantly running into a bloody Bell. "What the hell happened to you?"

"H-huh? Mr. Aragon?" Bell looked up at Aragon with tears in his eyes. "There are some people that are fighting an abnormal monster over there." Bells bloody hand pointed towards a hallway where Aragon could faintly hear screams, "I tried to help them but... the monster was way to strong... they sent me to get help be-"

"Alright, I understand." Aragon took out a juice box from his backpack. "Drink this kid."

"Huh? Bu-"

"Shut up and drink." Aragon glared.

"Y-yes sir..." Bell drunk the juice, as he did his wounds closed and healed. Once he was done he looked at where his wounds were in wonder, "Was this a health potion?"

"No. Now scram." Aragon headed down the hallway that he could hear screaming from.

On his way, he met a lot of injured adventures and gave them a juice box that healed their injuries.

He never stayed long, just enough time to give them a juice box.

After a bit, he finally made it to where the screaming came from.

Standing face to face with a monster, there was a man chugging health potions as the monster had its claws impaled inside him.

"AS LONG AS I HAVE HEALTH POTIONS WE CAN BE HERE FOR ETERNITY!" The man laughed as the monster tried to get its claws out of the man.

The monster was similar to a War Shadow in a way, more buff with what loooked like armor covering it.

'Idiots always think their immortal as long as they have potions.' Argon thought, scowling. 'He's basically half dead. The only thing keeping him alive right now is adrenaline.'

Argon sighed and dashed towards the monster, "Get ready to drink another potion kid." Aragon yelled as he grabbed the abnormal War Shadow by its 'neck,' throwing it into the wall.

Aragon pointed at the monster as it tried to get up. "Stay." Aragon glared once more, and for some reason the Abnormal War Shadow listened.

Aragon looked towards the man who had the war shadows claws in him a moment ago. "You."

"Thanks for the hel-" the man started.

"Are you stupid? Having health potions doesn't make you immortal." Aragon glared at the injuries the man had. "Fucking hell, you have to many injuries for [Healing Liqour] to get rid of..."

"Wh-what?" The man questioned.

"Shut up." Aragon sighed as he focused his mind, also known as mana, into his hands, "Revirescere, Corpus vivificare."

The man's wounds rapidly healed. "What?"

"Is that your catchphrase or something?" Aragon scowled. "I healed you, now scram." Aragon grabbed the man by the back of his shirt and threw him into the hall he came from. "Get back to the surface."

Aragon faced the abnormal war shadow, walking closer as it shivered. "Now what to do with you."

The war shadow looked up, hopefull. Was this monster about to spare it?

No.

As the war shadow looked up it saw three dark pink claws cleave through it. Killing it instantly.

As the monster faded away it dropped a magic stone and a black ring. Aragon glanced at both before looking back into the hall. "Bell, I know your there."

A soft gasp sounded from the shadows of the hall and a familiar white haired boy walked out.

"What did I tell you?" Aragon glared.

"T-to scram..." Bell muttered.

"Then what are you doing here?" Aragon glared harder.

"...I wanted to see you fight." Bell muttered.

"...Ah fuck." Aragon sighed, 'I was just like him at that age...'

Aragon grabbed the magic stone and the black ring. "Bell, when an adventure of a higher level tells you something, listen. Unless you don't trust them. Understand?"

Bell nodded.

"Hold out your hand Bell." Aragon glare loosened a bit.

Bell did as he asked. Aragon dropped the magic stone and the ring in Bells hand. "Give one of these to that boy that I just sent off and keep the other."

"Yes sir." Bell nodded.

"Now scram, your fast right? Go catch up to him." Aragon pushed Bell into the hall.

"Yes sir!" Bell ran off.

"...Gods he's gonna die..." Aragon sighed. 'Then again, that's probably just me judging a book by its cover.' Aragon looked into the shadows. 'But if a cover doesn't reveal what's inside, what the point of it.'

Finally, Aragon was on the 29th floor. The floor that held the strongest Bugbears. And if he wanted to capture one without causing much damage, this was the only place to go.

Aragon has sliced and diced through fodder monsters for about an hour.

No signs of a bugbear.

'I'm even in a common spawn. Where the hell is this sucker.'

Aragon punched a monster, causing its insides to erupt.

The wall a couple feet away from Aragon began to glow, as a furred and clawed hand came out of it. Followed by the rest of the bugbear.

"...Ain't no way I've run into two abnormal monsters today."

See, the Bugbear wasn't brown or black like it's normal counterparts, but it was white. And massive. It looked more like a polar bear than a black or brown bear.

"Fuuuuckkk my life."

The bugbear roared, a fine icy mist coming from its mouth.

"Yep, of course. It just has to have magic too." Aragon sighed, this was supposed to be an easy in and out. "Well, at least I know it won't die to a couple hits."

Aragon charged at the Polar Bugbear, realing his fist back and slamming it into the Bugbears chest. A large cloud of dust kicked up around the two monsters.

But when the dust cleared, nothing happened. No recoil and no pushback.

The polar bugbear had used its ice magic to make armor on its stomach. In fact, it was completely covered in ice armor.

"Oh, so that's how we're doing this. You wanna use ice armor I'll use something similar." Aragon smirked, "after all, it's been a while since I've been in the dungeon. I'm just, warming up."

Aragon looked forward, directly at the polar bugbear, "Ardeo In Inferno."

The scars on Aragons arms began to glow a dark pink, similar to his weapons. From the scars dark pink flames burst forth, covering his arms.

"Let's get a bit more serious." Aragon dashed at the Polar Bugbear again, punching its armor repeatedly. 'Can't use Thirteen cause that would kill it.'

Aragon and the polar Bugbear both braught back their fist, slaming together.

There was a loud crack as the Polar Bugbears hand shattered. The polar bugbear fell down, roaring in pain, it's roar cracking the ice around them.

"I was supposed to bring you in unharmed. Ugh, lost a million valis due to a puch." Aragon sighed, glaring down at the pityfull polar bugbear. "Guess I can rough you up a bit more." Aragon smirked, but to the Polar Bugbear it looked like a demon smiling down at him.

____With_Ais____

Ais was racing through the dungeon, she was informed by someone that a man was dragging what seemed to be an abnormal bugbear.

She was expecting some one that wanted to bring it up to the upper floors to get it to kill some of the weaker adventures, what she wasn't expecting was to run into him so quickly.

Quite literally, run into him. Normally when she runs into people on accidentally like this they are the ones to fall over, but she was the one to fall over in this situation.

The man helped her up, and only then did she realize who she ran into, and who she was looking for. "Aragon?"

"That is my name." Aragon deadpanned.

"What are you doing down here?" Ais questioned, last she checked Aragon hasn't been an adventure for a while.

"Lord Ganesha gave me a quest to do, bring a bugbear for his Monsterphillia event."

Ais nodded, "Would you like some help?"

Aragon shook his head and continued to drag the abnormal bugbear up the stairs to the next floor, seemingly making sure the bugbears head got hit on every single one of the stairs.

The monster looked at Ais and reached out for her, tears welling up in it's disgusting monster eyes.

If Ais didn't know that the bugbear was for sure a monster, she would of swore that the creature was crying for help.

Aragon glared at the creature and it began to whimper reaching out for the sword princess more as Aragon dragged it out of her view.

"...How strange." Ais titled her head. "I suppose Mister Gareth was right about his strength."

Ais walked further into the dungeon, if she was already down here she might as well kill some monsters.

Or at least that was her plan. But all the monsters on the floor were missing, all that was left behind was their magic stones.

____With_Aragon___

Aragon had finally gotten his payment, nine million valis. Ganesha had given him extra money for getting an abnormal bugbear in good condition.

As Aragon walked away from Ganesha he could only think of one thing, 'thank the gods my magic worked on it.'

Aragon sighed as he opened the back door of the Hostess of Fertility. He had been gone for about a day and a half, and now it was about midnight so everyone in the hostess would of been asleep in their beds.

Would of been.

Exept one green haired elf who was asleep on the chair next to the back door.

"Ryuu, you idiot..." Aragon gently picked up Ryuu, making sure not to wake her before bringing her towards her room.

Half way there, he felt movement in his arms. Ryuu had moved closer to him.

'Oh, she must be in a deep slee-' Aragon began to think.

"Aragon." Ryuu whispered sleepily, "your room."

Aragon sighed, he knew what she meant by this... and...

"I suppose I must comply." Aragon sighed gently, turning around and heading to his own room.

Chapter end brought to you by sleepy elf.

I honestly don't like the end of this chapter but oh well.
