Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: First Thread of Fate

The world ended on a Tuesday.

At least, that's what it felt like to Kim Yohan. One moment, he was sitting in his cramped apartment, scrolling through a webnovel on his phone, and the next, the sky outside his window split open like a wound. A cascade of golden light poured through, illuminating the city in an otherworldly glow. The air hummed with a strange, resonant frequency, as if the universe itself was tuning an instrument.

Yohan froze, his phone slipping from his fingers. The webnovel he'd been reading—*Omniscient Apocalypse*—was still open, its protagonist facing a similar phenomenon. But this wasn't fiction anymore. This was real.

A voice echoed in his mind, deep and resonant, like the tolling of a bell.

**[The System has awakened.]**

**[The World has been integrated into the Nexus of Realities.]**

**[All humans have been granted the potential to ascend.]**

**[Welcome, Player.]**

Yohan's vision blurred as a translucent screen materialized in front of him. It was sleek, futuristic, and utterly alien. Words scrolled across it in a language he didn't recognize, yet somehow understood.

**[Initializing Player Profile…]**

**[Name: Kim Yohan]**

**[Age: 24]**

**[Title: None]**

**[Class: Unassigned]**

**[Fate Threads: 1]**

**[Warning: The Nexus is a realm of infinite possibilities and infinite dangers. Survival is not guaranteed.]**

Yohan's heart pounded in his chest. This was insane. This couldn't be real. But the golden light outside, the hum in the air, the screen floating in front of him—it was all too vivid to be a dream.

Before he could process what was happening, the screen changed.

**[A Tutorial Scenario has been generated.]**

**[Objective: Survive the First Night.]**

**[Reward: Class Assignment, 100 Nexus Points]**

**[Failure: Death.]**

Yohan's breath hitched. Death? This wasn't a game. This wasn't some webnovel where the protagonist could respawn or reload a save file. This was life or death.

The golden light outside dimmed, replaced by an oppressive darkness. The cityscape, once familiar, now looked alien and foreboding. Shadows stretched unnaturally, twisting and writhing like living things. Yohan's apartment, once a sanctuary, felt like a cage.

He needed to move. He needed to think. But his mind was a whirlwind of panic and disbelief.

"Think, Yohan. Think," he muttered to himself, pacing the small room. "What would the protagonist do?"

He glanced at his phone, still open to *Omniscient Apocalypse*. The protagonist of that story had been calm, calculating, always one step ahead. But Yohan wasn't a protagonist. He was just a guy who spent too much time reading webnovels and not enough time living.

Still, he had one advantage: he knew how these stories worked. The System, the scenarios, the classes—it was all familiar. If he could just stay calm, if he could just survive the first night, maybe he could figure this out.

He grabbed his phone, a flashlight, and a small backpack, stuffing it with whatever supplies he could find—a water bottle, some snacks, a pocket knife. It wasn't much, but it was better than nothing.

As he stepped out of his apartment, the hallway was eerily silent. The usual sounds of the city—cars honking, people talking, the hum of electricity—were gone. Instead, there was only the sound of his own breathing and the faint rustle of shadows moving in the corners.

**[Warning: Hostile entities detected.]**

Yohan's screen flashed red, and he froze. At the end of the hallway, a figure emerged from the darkness. It was humanoid, but wrong—its limbs too long, its face featureless except for a gaping maw filled with jagged teeth.

The creature tilted its head, as if studying him, and then it lunged.

Yohan's instincts kicked in. He turned and ran, his heart pounding in his ears. The creature's footsteps echoed behind him, unnaturally fast. He didn't look back. He couldn't.

He burst into the stairwell, taking the steps two at a time. His lungs burned, but he didn't stop. He couldn't stop.

The creature was gaining on him.

**[Fate Threads: 1]**

The words flashed in his mind, and suddenly, he understood. In *Omniscient Apocalypse*, the protagonist had used his knowledge of the story to manipulate events, to weave his own fate. Yohan didn't have that kind of knowledge, but he had something else—a single thread of fate, a chance to change his destiny.

He focused on the thread, pulling at it with his mind. The world seemed to slow, the creature's movements becoming sluggish. Yohan's vision shifted, and he saw a path—a narrow, glowing line leading through the stairwell, out into the night.

He followed it, his movements precise, almost instinctual. The creature's claws grazed his back, but he didn't falter. He reached the bottom of the stairwell and burst out into the street.

The city was a nightmare. Shadows writhed and twisted, forming grotesque shapes. Creatures like the one chasing him prowled the streets, their eyes glowing with malevolent light.

But Yohan's path was clear. He ran, following the glowing line, until he reached a small, abandoned convenience store. The door was locked, but he smashed the glass with his elbow and slipped inside.

The creature behind him howled in frustration, but it didn't follow. Yohan collapsed against the wall, his breath coming in ragged gasps.

**[Tutorial Scenario Complete.]**

**[Reward: Class Assignment, 100 Nexus Points]**

**[Congratulations, Player. You have survived the First Night.]**

Yohan's screen flashed, and a new set of options appeared.

**[Class Selection Available.]**

**[Choose wisely, Player. Your class will determine your path in the Nexus.]**

Yohan stared at the screen, his mind racing. He didn't know what the future held, but he knew one thing: he wasn't going to die here. Not tonight.

He selected his class, and the world shifted once more.

**[Class Assigned: Threadweaver.]**

**[Fate Threads: 2]**

Yohan smiled grimly. This was just the beginning.
