Chapter 32 - Rear gaurd Battle

Miu, Kay, and Jay, who the bandits still pinned, heard Bret's speech. They knew that now that things had come to this, they had to fight; otherwise, they would lose their lives. Kay and Jay looked at Miu expecting her to help however, she too was pinned, but suddenly a boy attacked the bandits and she got free. She then disappeared out of the view near the bushes.

Kay, Jay, and Miu were trained by a retired assassin, so their attacks were not grand and instead relied on attacking from places where their enemy could not locate them. Miu, now completely blending in with her surroundings, attacked the 2 bandits that pinned Kay and Jay with her bow. Sensing the attack, the bandits dodged, but after glancing at the spot where they had left Kay and Jay, they did not find them.

The atmosphere soon became eerie. The two boys seemed like they had disappeared into thin air; however, in reality, the two boys were behind a tree. Kay and Jay slowly climbed up on the tree, not making any sound as they moved. Miu, too, positioned herself without being found out. Suddenly, they jumped from the tree onto the bandits with daggers pointed at them. The bandits noticed it and made a posture to capture and pin them down again, but then Miu shot 2 arrows at the bandit again, and they were thrown off guard, but they were still experienced enough to dodge their Kay and Jay attack.

Kay and Jay threw the dagger they had at the bandits, but the bandits dodged those, or that was what it seemed. Kay and Jay then swing the dagger that they had attached to a string and cut off the bandits' hands. The bandits screamed as their hands were cut off, and 2 shots of arrows from a bow again came from the unknown locations, but the bandits dodged them.

During that time, Kai and Jay used the string to pull the dagger back into their hands again as they attacked from behind the bandits.

Miu, Kay, and Jay weave through the melee like shadows, their daggers finding their marks with terrifying efficiency. Their seamless teamwork outpaces their opponent, who collapses under their final, well-coordinated strike.

Similarly, Bret had garnered a lot of attention being the most charismatic, Kisa and Kia were freeing all the pinned-down friends, and Bret and some other boys were protecting them using their swords. Whenever some bandits would pin those boys, Bret would swoop in to save them, and whenever they would try to pin down Bret, those boys would come in front of him, protecting him.

However, Bret's role did not stop there; he assessed the battlefield and then commanded the freed children to attack, and then they would attack a single bandit in groups of 10 and kill him. His charisma was not all that was helping him; under his leadership, children were gaining ground, too, so they kept on following him.

Suddenly, a bandit said, "These kids are insufferable." He was coming with an intent to kill. Bret saw that and went towards him. He said, "Girls help me, boys protect them." Girls readied their bows while boys formed a wall in front them, giving them enough space to fire. The bandit came and said, "Kid, stand down. You are no match against me." Bret said, "Let's see about that."

The bandit attacked Bret with his sword, but Bret dodged it and attacked with his sword; however, the bandit easily dodged the attack and kicked Bret. The bandit was going to deliver the finishing blow when suddenly a flurry of arrows came at him, and he had to dodge. Bret again got up and attacked, but he was way too inexperienced for the bandit, and the bandit dodged him again, but the flurry of arrows came again

Bret learned to fight from a man who was a retired soldier of the royal court. Kisa and Lisa learned how to use a bow from that soldier's wife, who also served in the royal court. Bret, Kisa, and Lisa had very patriotic hearts. Bret was very envious of Rei, who was very powerful and had a strong will that, even in this situation, he stayed behind to fight even taking the charge to fight in the forefront of the battle. He wanted that kind of bravery where one would not be afraid to even lay his life for others. After watching Rei, Luster, and Kaiser stand up, Bret, Kisa, and Kia thought that they did not want to shame their mentors by dying by the hands of the bandits or running away from a fight.

The bandit watching Bret, tired and huffing, said with a smug face, "You should stand down now, you can't beat me". Bret, gripping his sword tighter, said, "I still have more power inside of me." The bandit, getting tired of Bret, attacked with rage and said, "you little-" But suddenly a flurry of arrows again came Bret sensing the chance kicked the Bandit. The Bandit did not expect this and was thrown onto a cart. The Barrel from the cart dropped on his head and he saw Bret in a terrified expression now. Bret then cut off the head of the bandit.

After killing the bandit Bret gained experience in fighting and was now able to fight any rookie bandit alone with his sword.

However, for Dan, Hert, and Kaisy, it was different. They were the outcasts of the class, so they had no friends they could rely upon, but still, till now, they had not been pinned to the ground for even a single time.

During the entire time of the battle, they were outrunning the 3 bandits laying traps to slow the bandits down. Dan looked at Hert with a knowing glance, and Hert nodded. Kaisy, who then looked at Dan, also nodded. Dan, Hert, and Kaisy separated. Hert suddenly dashed at the Bandit who was chasing him and attacked his leg with his hammer. Not expecting it and still tired the bandit was not able to dodge and fell on his knees. Hert quickly fled from the bandit before he could attack.

The Bandit muttered under his breath, "That shitty child, I am going to kill him for making a fool out of me." He suddenly felt a cold metal running down his neck and constricted against his neck, making him unable to breathe. Dan had put his chain around the bandit's neck. The bandit tried to attack Dan with his sword, but his hand was suddenly attacked by an arrow, injuring him.

The one who attacked him was Kaisy. Dan was still being chased by his bandit pursuer, but he used the chain to drag the bandit. Furthermore, Hert was waiting for his chance to attack the bandit chasing Dan.

Dan, Hert, and Kaisy were trained by a trio of retired adventurers who never made any big achievements. Those adventurer focused on their bonding more than their fighting style. They gave them some tips on their fighting style, but the fighting technique was built by Dan, Hert, and Kaisy themselves.

As Dan was about to get caught, Hert used his hammer on the bandit's leg, and the bandit groaned in pain and fell on his knees. Hert then struck the hammer on that bandit's head, and the bandit fell unconscious. Hert then killed the bandit using the bandit's sword. Dan hung the chain on top of a sturdy tree branch and hung the bandit to death. Before moving to his other prey, the bandit that was chasing Kaisy.

Kaisy went to another area and saw Dan and Hert hiding, who nodded to her. She turned into an alley, and the Bandit chasing her turned, too. Dan hit the bandit's leg with his chain, tripping him, and Hert hit on his head with his hammer. Finally Kaisy used her bow and killed the Bandit.

Luster, too, was stopping several bandits however, he did not kill them due to being cautious about them breaching him after getting an opening and going towards the children. The battle was turning in favor of the children.
