Rei's curiosity and excitement was ignited by the magic book. There was a Synopsis written in the book but Rei did not bother to read it. He wanted to get to the practical part as quickly as possible. As he read more he found that Magic was divided into 5 levels

5. Peak Magic- they are a level above High Magic and have catastrophic effects with a high recoil and strong after effects. They require significant amount of Mana and sometimes sacrifices.

Fueled by newfound determination Rei decided to learn magic, For some reason the ground floor was noisy but the second floor was quiet. Rei decided to act in the quiet room. Rei stood in front of the small window and took a deep breath and began the first incantation.
The words were foreign, rolling off Rei's tongue with some difficulty. "By the flame within, ignite and burn."
But nothing happened.
Rei frowned and tried again, altering the words of the chant. Still, the air remained still, and no heat sparked to life. Undeterred, Rei moved on to another attribute.
"By the water's grace, flow and cleanse," Rei chanted, but the room remained dry.
One by one, each of the elementary incantations was attempted, and one by one, they failed. The words felt hollow, like reciting a meaningless rhyme rather than wielding a force of nature.
For months, Rei persisted. Each night, when the household slumbered, the second floor became a sanctuary of practice. By day, the books became Rei's companions, their pages searching for hints or techniques that might unlock the spark of magic.
And yet, the incantations remained lifeless. Mana, the invisible force that supposedly connected all living things, refused to answer Rei's call.
The frustration was immense, and doubts crept in like shadows at the edges of Rei's resolve. What if magic was beyond reach? What if this new life had stripped away the potential to wield it?
But giving up was unthinkable. The allure of magic was intoxicating—the promise of reshaping reality, of mastering the unseen, was too tantalizing to abandon.
One evening, as the last rays of sunlight painted the room golden, Rei stood in the cleared space once more.
"This world has its rules," Rei murmured, staring at the pages of the book in hand. "And rules can be broken."
With renewed determination, Rei vowed to press on. If the traditional methods wouldn't work, then another path would have to be forged. Somewhere, the key to unlocking magic lay hidden, and Rei was determined to find it, no matter the cost.
The day took an unexpected turn when Lily and Thomas discovered Hanna's affinity for magic. In the field behind their home, they watched in awe as Hanna conjured a brilliant flame with a mere flick of her wrist. Moments later, a gust of wind swirled around her, playful and light, as though responding to her unspoken command.
Lily and Thomas, their faces brimming with pride, tested Hanna further. Her abilities were astonishing: not only could she wield the fire and air attributes, but she also possessed the rare and coveted holy and light attributes.
The revelation struck Rei like a hammer to the chest. Holy and light—the pinnacle of advanced attributes. These attributes were not just rare; they were the very foundation of the legendary holy knights. Hanna's path to greatness was clear, her gifts opening doors to a future that Rei could only dream of.
And Rei? Still unable to summon so much as a flicker of magic.
As the celebration unfolded, bitterness crept into Rei's heart like a slow, insidious poison. The world had always been this way—cruel, unforgiving, and perpetually disappointing. In a past life and now in this one, the universe seemed to conspire against Rei.
Unable to endure the scene any longer, Rei retreated to the second floor, the only place where control seemed within reach. Surrounded by the silent wisdom of books, Rei sought solace in their pages.
Hours passed as Rei delved deeper into Mystical Magics, determined to find answers. And then, amidst the dense text, a flicker of hope emerged. Rei remembered that he had still not read the Synopsis.
As Rei read the Synopsis he found that the book explained that magic was not a universal gift. It was rare, bestowed only upon a select few. Each person's aptitude varied greatly, and many were born without the ability to wield it at all. This revelation offered clarity but also a cruel truth.
A simple test was described to determine magical potential:
"Flow through me, elements, and reveal your power."
The incantation promised to awaken a surge of energy within those capable of magic—a tangible sign of their latent abilities.
Excitement and trepidation warred within Rei. This was the chance to know for certain. Rei cleared the mind, focused every fiber of being, and chanted the words.
"Flow through me, elements, and reveal your power."
The words left Rei's lips, carrying all hope and desperation into the stillness of the room. The moment passed, and the air remained unchanged.
No warmth. No tingle. No surge of energy.
Nothing.
The weight of failure settled heavily on Rei's shoulders. Slumping into the chair, Rei stared blankly at the floor. According to the book, magic was not something that could be earned through sheer willpower. It was a gift, an innate trait, and Rei was clearly not among the chosen few.
The realization hit like a physical blow. Months of study, endless nights of practice, and unyielding determination—none of it mattered. The world of magic was beyond reach, and no amount of effort would change that.
And yet…
A stubborn part of Rei's mind refused to yield. Was this truly the end? Was the book absolute in its knowledge, or could there be something it had overlooked?
"No," Rei whispered, the voice steady despite the storm raging inside.
Slamming the book shut, the sound reverberated through the quiet attic. Defeat was not an option. Somewhere, there had to be a way—a loophole, a secret, a method forgotten by time.
Rei vowed to find it.
Because if magic truly was locked away, then Rei would break the lock.
