Sophia shielded her eyes from the bright light, squinting to see who was standing in the doorway. Jake, however, seemed to be unaffected by the sudden illumination. He smiled lazily at the person standing in the doorway.
"Hey, we're in here," Jake said, his voice dripping with amusement.
The person in the doorway stepped forward, revealing a bespectacled janitor with a kind face.
"Oh, thank goodness I found you two!" the janitor exclaimed. "I was starting to worry that someone might have gotten trapped in here."
Sophia smiled sheepishly as the janitor helped her and Jake out of the closet.
"We were just, uh, looking for a quiet place to study," Sophia said, trying to come up with a plausible excuse.
The janitor raised an eyebrow but said nothing. Instead, he handed Sophia and Jake each a dust-covered book.
"You two might want to return these to the library," he said with a wink. "I think they've been in here for a while."
As they walked out of the closet, Sophia couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment. She had been having so much fun talking to Jake, and now their time together was coming to an end.
But as they walked down the hallway together, Jake turned to her and smiled.
"Hey, want to grab some coffee with me?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
Sophia's heart skipped a beat. Was Jake asking her out?
"I'd love to," Sophia said, trying to sound casual.
As they walked off together, Sophia couldn't help but wonder what other adventures the day might hold.
