Chapter 1 - Age of Demonkind

The year is 3024. The human race dwells in a world of hell. Or perhaps it would be better to call it a dark age, ruled by the demons of the underworld. Humanity's population has drastically declined with only several million remaining on the face of the Earth. Coming across another group of humans is as rare as the total eclipse; you'll only experience it once in a lifetime.

The world used to be thriving on technological advancements. Interstellar travel was no longer science fiction, flying cars were no longer impossible, and laser firearms could coexist in society with permits. We've already traversed the cosmos of our solar system and stepped foot on a number of planets.

The world was interconnected with all seven continents forming an alliance. There was no starvation, no bias, no anxiety, and no poverty; everything was unified with humanity helping one another. This unified utopia was known as Network-City. Flying automobiles could travel from one continent to the other in a matter of minutes. There was no need for airplanes or vehicles that ran solely off of gasoline, and or fuel. Everything was electrical... but those times were now over. All of it became mythology that was discarded in this age of demons.

Since the beginning of time, humans and demons have always existed among one another in unity; building villages, to entire towns together. But the human race grew to hate the demonkind through years of evolution, and moral progression, realizing they were nothing more than brutes hellbent on destruction. Humanity's intelligence evolved, while the demonkind regressed, allowing mankind to enslave the demonic race, and use them as a means to an end.

Demons were savage creatures relying on brawns and chaos, constantly killing, raping, pillaging, and spreading evil wherever they go. Their morals differed from humanity. They were creatures who never evolved, remaining primal, and ruthless. There was no hope of finding any good ones—they were all the same, no matter where you looked.

At the Grand Capital of Network-City (which resides in America) demons of the highest caliber, known as Arch Demons, coexist in unity, forming order among their kind. They may have been chaotic, and mindless brutes, but they did understand order and reason better than your average toddler.

Arch Demons were fearsome, having the capabilities of thinking, and forming logic. Some could even surpass the intellect of Albert Einstein himself. There was nobody in the world who could stop them; not even advanced nuclear warfare would be enough to seize their control. Demons could survive the flames of hell, so a measly million degrees of heat is nothing in comparison.

Most humans who survived the nuclear warfare ended up mutating into mutants, whilst the demons remained unchanged. Now there are groups of mutants scattered across the world, living in their own habitats, away from demon society.

The Earth was plunged into a world of horrors; there was no use holding onto hope. Those ideas didn't exist anymore. There was no God, no good, no peace, and no utopia; only chaos. But some humans managed to adapt and form secret organizations to rebel against the demonkind. They were known as Angel-X.

Mechanized civilization was in ruins—there was no one in sight except for the mutant animals affected by cosmic radiations of advanced nuclear warfare. A wispy dust coats the walls of buildings and skyscrapers constructed from extraterrestrial materials. The barren landscape is in ruins, and the polluted sky is always night. It was a dark age propped up by science with only 10% of humanity having left-behind technology that could fend off against the demonkind.

"Yaahooo!! Kill every single one! Yeaaahh!" The vrooming of a vehicle, clad in thick pieces of metal armor, cruised across the bumpy landscape, mowing mutant animals down with its front bumper. The automobile functioned solely off of an electric motor and rechargeable battery, ramming through the horde of monstrosities that plagued the earth.

On the back of the armored van was a large X with wings protruding from each side. It was none other than Angel-X; the last hope for humanity, but even they were brutes, hellbent on killing everything they see.

"Murder them all! Hell yeah! Kill every single fucker around!" The armored van was covered in thick, green blood that kept spurting across the air in a dance of chaos. Demons were brutes, mutants were brutes, and even humans were brutes. Moral progression has completely reset back into the dark ages. "We're gonna have a feast tonight!" The one driving the armored van was a lunatic alongside his many friends in the vehicle. All of them laughed at the sight of blood and death.

They were no different than demons; killing, surviving, and raiding were all they knew. Most of the time they would even rape women for fun to have offspring of their own, and raise them to become bandits; just like them. It's ironic. This was the supposed "Hope" of humanity.

"We're Angel-fucking-X! We can do whatever we want! Some lousy ol' demons ain't gonna stop us from having a little fun!" Yelled the Mohawk freak in the back. "Yeah, Tommy's right, who's gonna stop us?! Not like the mutants can penetrate our armored van!" Said the woman dressed in a flamboyant leather jacket accompanied by facial tattoos.

"Brittany, Tommy, shut the hell up and focus on finding our target, he's a hybrid demon, and he's worth a lot of money." A tall, dark-skinned man in the passenger seat was the only one taking things seriously. It's safe to say he was the boss.

"I still believe that's a load of mutant horseshit!" Said Tommy. "When a demon mates with a human, their genes will override other race's traits for physical appearance and power. How can a human's gene manage to overcome a demon's, Terry?"

"I don't know, and I don't care, I'm only in this for the money. He's worth more than all of Angel-X combined. Whoever put a bounty on his head must be extremely rich, so we're out to take it." The others in the van looked uncertain about their objective, with Brittany stuttering in her words; "U-Uhm, what if we're doing the bounty of some Arch Demon, boss?"

"Arch Demon?! Pfft, you're overthinking it, Brit, why the hell would some Arch Demon put a bounty on some lousy hybrid?! They're the strongest demons on Earth, they don't care about anything else except themselves. Those bastards have no time to be worrying about some hybrid."

"Can we know that for sure?" Said Tommy.

"Alright, enough! Let's focus on the mission and worry about that later." Said Terry. "Thane, keep driving, we're not stopping until we find him, that understood? We have enough weapons to kill a colossal demon, so there's no way in hell some hybrid is taking us down."

"Goddamn right!" Yelled Thane, smirking wide as ever.

The bounty hunters soon came to a stop in the middle of the barren landscape, stepping out of their vehicles into the cold wastelands. Large mutant ants and cockroaches scurried away, digging beneath the ground. The air had the stench of death, with dozens of mutant animals scattered across the ruinous grounds.

Humans of this era enjoyed the brutal sight; it made them shiver in excitement, craving for more bloodshed. Perhaps calling them brutes was an understatement—but demons were still worse.

"On the bounty it says he comes out around 9:00 pm, so be on the lookout, and adjust to the darkness." Said Terry, holding onto his laser rifle.

Nuclear Winter. It was a theory that described the potential environmental consequences of a nuclear war, including a prolonged period of global cooling. Smoke and dust from nuclear bombs would block sunlight, causing a temporary cooling of the Earth's surface, however, it wasn't so "temporary" as humans initially thought. With advanced nuclear weapons, this phenomenon has lasted for a few centuries by now. Crops cannot grow, and the average human lifespan has dropped to 30.

With massive amounts of nitrogen oxides (produced by nuclear explosions), it depleted the ozone layer, allowing for more ultraviolet radiation to reach the Earth's surface.

Humans were forced to adapt to this new age created by their ancestors over a pitiful war. Clocks and watches were rare, but Angel-X had a variety of them; letting them know the time of the day, even though it was always dark and gloomy with extremely rare occurrences of sunlight.

"It's cold as shit out here, let's just get this over with." Muttered Tommy, hoisting his laser rifle on his shoulder. "Once we capture this fool, I'll be swimming in a lake of pussy! Gyehahaha!"

"You disgusting freak." Said Brittany with a hint of sarcasm.

"Hey, boss, what if he sees us? We have nowhere to hide or ambush him, he's just gonna avoid us." Said Thane.

"What kind of idiot do you think I am?" On Terry's back was a mechanical backpack. Hooked to it was a robotic drone that departed from its charging station, circling around them in silence. "We're gonna use AD-345 to scout the area for any heat signatures. Hybrid or not, demons are demons; they all emit immense heat, so this should be a breeze."
