Chapter 10 - CHAPTER TEN

Ethan walked into his grand mansion, the soft glow of the chandeliers illuminating the lavish decor. He made his way to the spacious living room, where a young woman with striking features and piercing green eyes was seated. She was an expert archer, and Ethan had hired her for her exceptional skills.

The woman, Sam, turned to face Ethan, her gaze narrowing slightly. "Jerome, aren't you showing your face too much?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.

Ethan's expression turned innocent. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said, feigning ignorance.

Sam raised an eyebrow, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Don't play dumb, Ethan. I know all about your little game."

Ethan's smile was charming. "Ah, Sam, you're always so perceptive. I need your help with something. Can you hack into the media outlets and remove those pictures of me? And also, can you access the police station's system and erase any evidence connected to me?"

Sam nodded, her fingers flying across the keyboard of her laptop. "Consider it done," she said, her voice confident.

As Sam worked her magic, Ethan watched her with a mixture of admiration and gratitude. He knew he could always count on Sam to have his back.

Sam looked up from her laptop, her eyes scanning Ethan's outfit. "You're really going all out, aren't you?" she said, a hint of sarcasm in her voice.

"I have a client..and I am just being...ethan adjusted his hoodie, his face hidden in his hoodie. "Just being cautious," he said, his voice low.

Sam raised an eyebrow. "You know, one of these days, you're going to have to stop being so paranoid."

Ethan's expression turned cold. "You don't understand, Sam. This is what keeps me alive."

Sam's expression softened, and she nodded. "I know"

Ethan went out and banged the door ,With that, he turned and disappeared into the night, leaving Sam to wonder what he was really up to.

Ethan met with his client and a picture was given to him

Ethan slipped back into the night, the picture of his target still etched in his mind. He made his way to the person's house, a grand mansion with high walls and security guards.

But Ethan was no ordinary killer. He had a plan, and he knew exactly how to execute it. He snuck past the guards, avoiding the cameras and making his way to the person's bedroom.

The target was asleep, unaware of the danger lurking in the shadows. Ethan crept closer, his heart beating steadily in his chest. He raised his hand, and in one swift motion, he ended the person's life, stabbing him in the heart twice.

Ethan turned to leave, but not before securing a small note to the person's bed. It was a signature, a calling card that would leave the police baffled. He slipped out of the house, disappearing into the night like a ghost.

The next morning, the police found the body, and the investigation began. But Ethan was already gone, his secret safe, his reputation as the Shadow Killer growing.

*******************

Ava groggily reached for her phone, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. "Detective James," she answered.

"Detective, we've got a homicide," the voice on the other end said. "The president of Tm corporation was found dead in his bedroom."

Ava's eyes snapped open, her mind racing. "What's the situation?" she asked, throwing off the covers and getting out of bed.

"The victim's wife reported that he had delayed to come down, when he didn't come down for breakfast," the voice explained. "She went to his room and found him in a pool of blood."

Ava's grip on the phone tightened. "I'm on my way," she said, already heading for the shower.

As she arrived at the crime scene, Ava's eyes scanned the area, taking in the scene. The president's wife was sitting on the couch, her eyes red from crying.

Ava's eyes met those of the officer in charge. "What do we know?" she asked.

The officer filled her in on the details. "No signs of forced entry or struggle," he said. "The victim was found with a single wound to the chest."

Ava's eyes narrowed. "This looks like a professional hit," she said. "Get me everything you can on the victim and the company.

Ava's eyes widened as she picked up a note that was close to the victim. her heart racing with a mix of frustration and fear. The handwriting was unmistakable - it was the same as the notes left at the previous crime scenes.

"It's him again," Ava whispered to herself, her mind reeling with the implications. "The Shadow Killer."

She felt a surge of determination and anger. Why couldn't they catch this guy? Why did he keep slipping through their fingers?

Ava turned to the officer in charge. "Get this note to forensics, see if they can lift any prints or DNA," she instructed.

The officer nodded and took the note, carefully placing it in an evidence bag.

Here's the continuation:

Ava's phone rang again, shrill in the silence. She hesitated for a moment before answering.

"Detective James," she said, her voice tight.

"Ava, it's Detective Thompson," the voice on the other end said. "We've got a situation. The media is reporting that their system was hacked, and all evidence of the Shadow Killer's crimes has been erased."

Ava's eyes widened in horror. "What? How is that possible?" she demanded.

"I don't know, but it looks like the Shadow Killer has struck again," Thompson said. "And this time, he's not just killing people - he's erasing the evidence."

Ava felt like she'd been punched in the gut. She couldn't breathe, couldn't think. This was a disaster.

"What are we going to do?" she asked, feeling like she was on the verge of tears.

Thompson's voice was grim. "We'll have to start from scratch. Re-gather all the evidence, re-interview all the witnesses... it's going to be a long and difficult process."

Ava felt like resigning. She couldn't take this anymore. The Shadow Killer was always one step ahead, and she was starting to feel like she was in way over her head.

"What's going on, Thompson?" she asked, her voice shaking. "Is this some kind of game to the Shadow Killer? Is he just playing with us?"
