Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - 1, Another world?

The night sky over Tokyo promised tranquility, but not for Saphire Yukiko Volkov. She walked along a quiet path toward her home, the soft glow of streetlights reflecting off her long, jet-black hair, which cascaded in waves with faint reddish tips—a testament to the elegance of her mother, a graceful and strong Japanese woman. Her skin was as pale as winter snow, and her sharp sapphire-blue eyes, inherited from her father, a charismatic Russian man, gleamed with intensity.

Tall and athletic yet undeniably feminine, Saphire exuded an extraordinary grace, honed through years of physical training and mental discipline from a young age. She wore simple yet elegant attire—a white blouse paired with black trousers that hugged her figure perfectly. Beneath her striking appearance lay a deadly katana master, a skill she had cultivated through years of rigorous training with her mother, a master of traditional Japanese swordsmanship.

Every night after her university routine, she carried her backpack slung over her left shoulder and her beloved katana in her right hand. The katana was more than just a weapon; it was an extension of herself—a razor-sharp blade symbolizing the legacy and responsibility she bore.

But tonight was different. As Saphire walked down the dark, silent path, something strange happened. The ground beneath her feet began to glow, forming a shimmering circle adorned with foreign symbols. Instantly, she sensed danger. With lightning speed, she tossed her backpack to the ground, drew her katana from its sheath in one fluid motion, and assumed a defensive stance, ready to face whatever was coming.

Before she could react further, the magical circle flared brightly. A blinding light enveloped her, and in an instant, she felt a strange gravitational pull. Saphire was yanked from the reality she knew, thrust into an unfamiliar world—a world that would test every ounce of her skill and courage.

When Saphire opened her eyes, she found herself staring at a scene she could never have imagined. Towering trees surrounded her, their trunks as thick as a human body. A dense canopy of dark green leaves blocked out the sunlight that should have been shining brightly in the morning. The distant chirping of unfamiliar birds filled the air, and the scent of damp earth was overwhelming.

Carefully, Saphire rose to her feet. Her body felt light, but her senses were on high alert. She glanced around, trying to make sense of her surroundings. The forest felt alive yet alien—as if she had been transported to another world. Beneath her feet, the traces of the magical circle that had brought her here had vanished, as if they had never existed.

Though panic threatened to creep in, Saphire kept her expression calm. She knew panic would only make her vulnerable. Her hand still gripped the katana tightly, the weapon now her only hope and protection in this unknown world. She scanned her surroundings meticulously, ensuring no immediate danger lurked nearby.

Her steps were slow but deliberate as she began to navigate the forest, searching for clues about her location. Every sound, every rustle of leaves, she noted carefully, looking for signs of other life. Saphire knew that if she wanted to survive, she had to understand this environment—and quickly.

Gradually, she began to formulate a plan in her mind. Her first priority was to find water and shelter. At the same time, her thoughts raced, trying to recall if anything from her training or her mother's stories could help her in this situation. Though this world was foreign, she felt an odd presence—something she couldn't explain but was strong enough to keep her on edge.

As time passed, Saphire pressed on. One thing was certain: she wouldn't give up. No matter what, she would find a way back or at least understand why she had been brought here. And if this world dared to challenge her, she was ready to face it.

Saphire moved cautiously through the trees, listening to the soft whisper of the wind through the leaves. With each step, her mind buzzed with unanswered questions.

"Where am I? Is this real, or just some bizarre dream?" she wondered, holding her breath for a moment. But the faint ache in her muscles and the cold grip of her katana reassured her that this was no dream. This was a reality she had to confront, one way or another.

"I have to stay calm. Panicking will only make me vulnerable. That's what Mother always said… Stay calm, stay focused, and never let your enemy see your fear." She repeated her mother's teachings in her mind, trying to steady her slightly racing heartbeat.

Saphire paused for a moment, surveying her surroundings, and took a deep breath. "That magic circle… What's the purpose of all this? Why me? I need to figure this out. This isn't just a coincidence. Maybe it's a test… or fate?"

A chill crept over her skin, but she stood firm. "I can't survive by hoping or waiting. This world might be different, but one thing's for sure: I have to survive. Mother, Father… I'll find a way back."

Her eyes narrowed as she scanned the dense forest ahead. "Whatever's out there, I'm ready for it. This might be a strange world, but this katana… it will guide and protect me. I am Saphire Yukiko Volkov, and I won't be easily defeated."

With unwavering determination, Saphire continued her journey, venturing deeper into the mysterious forest, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

Saphire moved cautiously through the forest, but an unfamiliar sound began to echo in the distance. It was unnatural—a heavy, guttural growl that sent shivers down her spine. She slowed her pace, sharpened her hearing, and moved more carefully among the trees.

As she approached the source of the sound, a horrifying sight unfolded before her. A group of massive creatures had gathered in a clearing. These monsters resembled wolves but were far larger, standing nearly two meters tall. Their dark gray skin was rough like stone, covered in sharp spines along their backs. Their eyes glowed a menacing red, radiating hatred and a killer instinct. Their snouts were filled with razor-sharp teeth, ready to tear apart anything in their path. At the end of their tails was a large, pulsating spike, as if waiting to be unleashed as a deadly weapon.

Saphire held her breath, feeling adrenaline surge through her veins. "These aren't ordinary creatures… these are monsters. And they seem organized," she thought, crouching low to avoid detection.

She observed their movements carefully. The pack appeared to be hunting, with some sniffing the ground as if tracking prey. Saphire knew she had to be cautious; one wrong move, and she could become their next target.

With steady breaths, she began to stealthily maneuver through the trees, ensuring each step was silent. She angled her body to avoid casting shadows in the dappled light filtering through the leaves. Her eyes remained locked on the monsters, calculating their distance and the direction of the wind. "They're dangerous, but not too smart," she muttered under her breath, watching their movements.

Inside, her survival instincts and combat skills churned. Part of her wanted to strike and eliminate them before they noticed her, but she knew this wasn't the time. It was wiser to avoid direct confrontation, at least until she understood more about this world and the strength of her enemies.

Saphire continued to move, putting more distance between herself and the pack, but remained vigilant. "I can't let them know I'm here. Every step has to be calculated," she thought, the tension in her body palpable. Every time one of the monsters turned its head in her direction, she froze, becoming as still as a statue until their attention shifted elsewhere.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Saphire was out of their range. She took a deep breath, careful to keep it silent. "I need to be more careful. This world is far more dangerous than I thought."

Yet, beneath the tension, there was a sense of satisfaction. She knew her training and instincts were still sharp, enough to keep her safe in this first encounter with danger in this strange world. But she also knew this was just the beginning. This world held many mysteries, and those monsters were likely not the greatest threat she would face.
