Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

I return to my inn, and the receptionist looks at me.

"Welcome back, sir. Do you need something?"

"Ah, can you deliver a coffee to my room?"

"Do you want it hot or cold?"

"Hot, please."

"Your coffee will be there shortly."

I nod and walk to my room. I sit on the balcony and lean over my chair. I read the Principles of Restoration book. The first two chapters are the introduction of the healing magic. The third one is what makes me interested.

"Healing magic is not the act of creating new life, but rather the acceleration of natural recovery. It is an aid, not a replacement, for the body's ability to mend itself. While minor wounds may be closed instantly, deep injuries and chronic afflictions require repeated application and careful energy regulation. Even the most gifted healers cannot restore lost limbs or raise the dead—such acts belong to forces beyond mortal reach."

Lucky for me, I am no longer a mortal. My healing spells had already left the mortal realm.

"A common misconception is that healing magic requires only intent, but the truth is far more complex. The energy used must be stable, or the body may reject the accelerated recovery, leading to unintended consequences such as tissue scarring or mana exhaustion. Wind and Water Mana are the most stable conduits for healing, as they promote natural flow and renewal."

Underneath this paragraph is a step on how to cast a spell. I followed the instructions but used Blue Mana instead of Water Mana, as the book says. It does not take long before my Planeswalker power kicks in and fills the blank to make the spell work with my set of powers.

The new spell is called [Mending Wave]. This spell sends a pulse of healing energy in a five-meter radius that heals mid-level injury and even clears a low-level status effect.

He shakes his head and continues to read. However, before he can get far, someone knocks on his door. He opens the door and sees a servant carrying a cup of coffee.

"Your coffee, sir."

"Thank you."

I give him a smile and a nod before walking back to the balcony. I take a sip of my coffee and hum at the taste of the coffee. He takes his book and reads it once again.

"A healer's role is not to replace the body's natural processes but to enhance them. The body knows how to mend itself—closing wounds, regenerating tissue, purging infection—but such processes take time. Healing magic acts as a catalyst, strengthening these processes and guiding the body toward faster recovery."

"However, the body has limits. Even the most gifted healer cannot force an exhausted body to repair itself instantly, nor can they replace what has been completely lost. The deeper the wound, the greater the strain healing magic places upon both the healer and the recipient."

Hmmm, interesting. Healing in this world is truly all about the flow and regeneration, huh? As for the cleansing of status effect, it is another application of flow. It is a control of flow that lets the status effect go backward, cleaning it.

I hum and go to the next page.

"GRAH! GRAH!"

"Shhh. You don't need to worry. I will kill you when we are done."

In front of me is a monster that I manage to capture. We are in the forest next to the Yashuna Village. I tie the giant werewolf-like monster to the tree using the chain made of blue mana. I use red mana to conjure and control fire to injure the goblin enough for me to experiment.

"Let's start small. [Healing Water]."

One blue mana is consumed, and I can see the wound slowly healed. I hum a little and let my instinct guide me. I use one Blue and one White mana to conjure a mundane sword that is very sharp and durable.

I swung my sword and cut the arm of the werewolf. I ignore his scream in pain and add one white mana into the [Healing Water] spell. I find it fascinating that my spell heals the severe wound from the fire almost instantly, but it does not regenerate the missing limb.

I cast the spell again, but I added one more White Mana to it this time.

And I watch in fascination as the limb grows back.

"And the limb grows back. One Blue and two White, huh? Let's start the second test."

I let out my Black Mana and brute force my way to create some kind of debuff. I use two Black Mana and create a blob of black energy. I push it to the werewolf and watch it screaming even more. However, before the curse can kill him, I take a deep breath and cast [Cleansing Light].

As expected, one White Mana cannot clean all the status effects I cast using two Black Mana. Once again, I cast [Cleansing Light] and added one more white mana. I watch as the werewolf releases a relieved sigh, something I am surprised he can do.

As I expected. As a Planeswalker, I can ignore the law of this world by adding more colored mana. I nod and swing his sword sideways, chopping the head of the monster. I am done for the day and need to return to the village.

While walking to the village, I can feel something on the other side of the village. I can feel a burst of White Mana coming from the building. I decided to check it out. After a few minutes, I can see a shrine at the edge of the village.

It is a small shrine, but I can feel white mana produced by the faith of the people who come to this shrine. Their faith is strong and makes this place something unique. It is not only an extension of the village but rather a unique place.

As I walk closer, the priestess notices him and approaches with a serene expression. She is a woman in her late 40s, wearing robes embroidered with golden threads, and she carries the calm presence of someone deeply connected to her faith.

"Welcome, traveler. You seem drawn to this place. Do you seek the Sun Rune's blessing?"

Ah, yeah. The people of this world worship the 27 True Runes, huh? They think they are Gods and they have some truth in them. They are not Gods, but they are the foundation of this universe.

"I've heard much about the Sun Rune, but I wasn't aware that a shrine dedicated to it existed here in Yashuna Village. What is its connection to the Rune?"

"The Sun Rune is the sacred symbol of Falena, the source of our kingdom's strength and prosperity. Though its true vessel lies within Sol-Falena, shrines such as this one serve as places of worship, where we honor its radiance and pray for continued blessings."

She gestures to the golden inscriptions on the shrine ceiling, depicting Falena's sunlit fields, its royal lineage, and the prosperity granted by the Sun Rune's presence.

"This shrine was built many years ago, a gift from the nobility who once ruled this region. It serves as a reminder that even those far from the capital are still under the Sun Rune's protection. Though it does not hold the Rune itself, we believe that our prayers strengthen the bond between our people and its light."

She pauses, then tilts her head slightly and continues.

"You seem quite interested in the Sun Rune. Do you study Runes, traveler?"

"You can say that. I am a scholar, you see?"

"I see. Do you want me to tell you about the Sun Rune?"

"If you will."

She gives me a bright smile and starts her sermon. I decide to let her talk while I tap into the shrine. He almost released a surprised noise as he felt three White Mana from this single shrine. The people's faith in this village is so strong it grants me three white mana.

"...And that is how the Sun Rune granted us fertile land to live."

I smile at him and say.

"Thank you for your explanation, Priestess."

"Ah, think nothing of it, good traveler. It is good to see someone who is willing to listen to the enlightening knowledge of the Sun Rune."

"It is not a problem. However, it looks like the sun is about to go down, and I need to return to my inn."

"Of course! Please return when you want to hear more about the good words of the Sun Rune."

I nod and leave the shrine.
