Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

"Planeswalker, really? Which one? Post-Mending or Pre-Mending?"

I look at the strange man in front of me and take a sip of my drink. The man grins at me and says.

"Pre-Mending! However, in exchange for that power, you shall be the only one left in creation."

"What do you mean?"

"Do you understand the alternate theory?"

"Ah, say no more. That means I am the only 'me' left in the creation, yes? I am the only Lucas Reynard, and there shall never be Lucas Reynard other than me."

"Yup! The sacrifice of Trillions upon Trillions of souls in exchange for a power that can let you become a very powerful being. Will you take that?"

I drink the beer in my hand.

"Of course! I don't care about others. This is Planeswalker we are talking about! Learning any magic and getting mana from the land is great!"

"And it is permanent, you know? Pre-mending Planeswalker can have an unlimited amount of mana."

"Really?"

"Yes. Each time he taps into the land, his mana cap increases. It will regenerate in a day."

"What do you mean by a day? A new day or twenty-four hours of cooldown? Will the mana be restored when it goes past midnight? Or is it required twenty-four hours before the mana is restored?"

"The former instead of the latter."

"Really? Which lore do you read it from?"

"I mean, it is a given, no? How can a Planeswalker be considered a godlike being if they need to tap the land every time they run out of mana?"

"That is fair. How about when a Pre-Mending Planeswalker enters a Post-Mending world? Will it become a problem? Like if two planeswalkers meet with each other in the Blind Eternities, and he decides to throw me away into the Post-Mending world. Will I become a Post-Mending Planeswalker?"

"Why would you be? If you theoretically accept this, you will be in an outside context, you know? You are born from outside M:tg world, after all. Not only that, but sacrificing all your alternatives will also greatly boost your power, don't you think? This is an equivalent exchange, after all."

"Bah! Even if it is not a Pre-Mending Planeswalker, I will take it. Pre-Mending one? That is a no-brainer."

I drink all the beer in my glass and look at the man.

"Getting Planeswalker power is like becoming a lower-god status, you know? Slowly but surely, I can grow in power and become a powerful Chief God."

"That's right! And that is your power from now on. Thank you for the souls, my friend. With this, I shall be promoted by the company. Enjoy your power."

"What?"

Before I can ask him, my entire vision is engulfed by darkness, and a second later, I can see an infinite void. I swim around the void for a few seconds before I feel something connect in my soul. I pull it, and a second later, reality shifts, and I arrive in the middle of a forest.

D-Did I really become a Planeswalker?

I take a deep breath and let my instinct guide me. I can feel the land under me, and I create a connection to it. It only takes me a few seconds before I get the mana from the land. It is a small forest, but it is near a massive river that has become a symbol of worship for the people of this country. That gives me one Green Mana, three Blue Mana, and two White Mana from the land I stand on.

I also receive information about which world I arrive at.

I am in the world of Suikoden, an old game that I once played in the past. It is a world full of monsters and war. The river not too far away from me is the Feitas River, the river that runs through the Queendom of Falena.

It is the symbol of life for the Queendom. That is why I get the white mana.

Other than tapping the land and getting the mana, I can absorb all the mana from the land and get a temporary power-up. As a pre-mending planeswalker, I can absorb all the mana in this country and get about ten thousand mana, which is colorless mana that lasts for at least a century or until I spend them all.

However, I will only use that kind of thing in case of an emergency. If I do that, the entire planet will feel its side effects. The entire country will be a barren wasteland. No life can grow in this land. That is the long-term effect. The immediate effect is a massive Mana Shockwave that will take half of the country.

If I want to take a huge chunk of mana, I need to take it from a planet where there are no humans or sapient beings.

I shake my head and think of my next move. From the previous information I got from tapping into the land, I noticed that I am a few kilometers away from Estrise City. I want to create a gem but decide to hold it for now. I need to go to Estrise and get more mana before creating the gems I need to sell.

I look south and start walking.

I am surprised that it is easy to enter Estrise City. The guard does not even check me and only gives me a nod. As I walk through the streets of Estrise, I tap into the land and feel a rush of new mana entering my soul.

I get one Green, Blue, and White mana from Estrise.

With more mana in hand, I take a deep breath and use all of my mana to brute force conjuration. I don't have any spells, but I can brute force my way to get a good result. After a few seconds, I can feel something appear inside my pocket.

I managed to create two sapphires, one diamond, and one emerald.

With this, I require some money to use.

I ask around where the trading house is located, and after a few minutes of walking and asking, I arrive inside the trading house.

"Welcome to the Estrise Trading House! What can I do for you?"

"I want to sell some gems."

The woman looks at me seriously and nods her head.

"Please follow me."

I followed her to one of the rooms, and she let me sit.

"Please wait for a second. I shall call an appraiser."

While waiting for her to return, I prepare to rob the land of its mana in case something happens. After a minute, I can see an older man walking inside the room and say,

"Show me the goods."

I nod, take out the gems I create, and watch him examine them. It does not take long before he looks at me and says,

"Where do you get these gems? They are pure gems! The purest gem I have ever seen!"

"They are my parent's fortune. I decided to sell them to start my merchant journey."

He nods and signals the previous woman before leaving. The woman looks at me and says.

"We are willing to take them for one hundred and ninety thousand. What do you say?"

"That is too little. Two hundred and fifty, that is a good number, no?"

"Sadly, it is too much even for us. Two hundred thousand."

"Urgh. Two hundred and twenty thousand. That is the last offer. I cannot offer lower than that."

She looks at me for a few seconds and nods her head.

"Deal."

We shake hands, and with this, I secure my foundation.
