PROLOGUE
"I don't know how much longer we can keep this secret," she whispered, her voice tinged with both fear and hope.
He reached across the table, took her hand, his touch firm, grounding her. "We will figure it out," he said, though the doubt in his eyes is impossible to miss. "I'll fight for you. No matter what."
"You know this can't last forever," she said, her voice soft with an ache she couldn't hide.
"Then we'll make it last as long as we can," he replied, his voice filled with determination. "We've found something that's ours. No one can take that from us."
She looked into his eyes, tears brimming in her own, seeing the sincerity, the desperation, the truth. And in that moment she knew; their love was inevitable as it was forbidden. The divide between their families was too vast, too dangerous to ignore forever. Yet at this moment it didn't matter. No matter the consequences, they would collide.
Will this love heal or destroy them both?
And so, it began.
New York City
Midtown Manhattan
Elena Blake stood at the floor-to-ceiling window in her office, the towering Manhattan skyline stretching out before her. The city seems endless, a maze of steel and glass, each building a monument of power and ambition. She held a folder in her hand, the bold letters on the cover catching her eyes "De Luca's Enterprises".
For years, De Luca's name has been whispered in the Blake's household, not with admiration, but with contempt. Their business empire based in Italy, has grown too fast and too far, threatening everything her father, Alexander Blake, has built.
Elena opened the folder, scanning the contents. Names, figures, business strategies, all laid before her like a puzzle waiting to be solved. She felt a flicker of curiosity as her eyes stopped on one name; Lorenzo De Luca.
A knock on her office door broke her focus. She closed the file quickly and turned, straightening her posture. Alexander Blake, her father, stepped inside. His sharp suit and commanding presence filled the room instantly.
"Do you know why this meeting is important?" he asked without preamble, his tone as direct as ever.
Elena responded nodding, placing the folder on her desks. "The De Luca are expanding aggressively in the U.S market. If we don't respond, it could threaten our hold on Europe."
Alexander lip curled into a faint smile, though his eyes remained cold. "Good. You've done your homework. But this isn't about numbers, Elena, it's about control. De Luca thinks they can challenge us, and I need you to make sure they understand their place."
Elena felt the familiar weight of his expectations settled over her. "What's the plan?"
"They've requested a meeting in Rome. You'll go. Access their strategy, find their weak spot, and ensure we stay ahead. This is your opportunity to show me you're ready to lead." Alexander looked pointedly at her.
She nodded, keeping her expression neutral, though her mind raced. A meeting with De Luca wasn't just business, it's personal. Their families have been rivals for decades, and these could change everything.
"Their CEO, Marco De Luca, is aggressive in his strategies. His son, Lorenzo, is being positioned as heir. He'll be at the meeting too." Elena said, flipping through the folder again.
Alexander smirked. "The son? He's untested, inexperienced. That might work to our advantage."
Elena raised an eyebrow. "Or he might surprise us."
Her father waved off the thought. "Focus on the bigger picture, Elena, this isn't about business, it's about showing them who holds the real power."
She nodded, masking the frustration building inside her.
Alexander's voice softened slightly as he turned to leave. "Don't let me down, Elena."
As the door closed behind him, Elena let out a breath she didn't realize she had been holding. She glanced back at the folder on her desk. Her fingers brushing over the bold letters of De Luca's Enterprises once more .
A meeting in Rome, a confrontation with a family sparred with for years and a name that now refused to leave her thoughts; Lorenzo De Luca. Untested, inexperienced… and entirely unknown to her.
Whatever lay ahead, one thing was certain, this was her moment to prove she was ready to step into the role her father had carved out for her. Yet something about this meeting felt different, as though it would change everything.
With a steadying breath, Elena shut the file and rose. It was time to prepare.
