I am Ethan, a employee at a shooting range just doing my job on a normal day. I am 25 years old and have done my Bachelors in Physics from a not-so good university in America. I have a girlfriend who has been with me from a few years who I will probably marry in the Future. "I am satisfied with how my life is" I thought to myself. As I smiled thinking about her,suddenly I heard a loud noise, the noise noticeably upsetting my hearing to the point that I almost scream out with pain. I go outside to check where the loud noise was coming from and upon seeing its origin, I froze. "Help,HELP!!!!" I saw a person screaming in the distance. I saw it.The source of the Sound. It was a giant creature,so giant that it could probably throw me 100 meters with zero effort. The creature had no expression on his face and looked rather "human". The creature started to eat the human alive in front of me. First the legs then his torso and lastly the head. I was horrified. And all I could do was watch,praying that I am not next. It turned its head and rushed towards me. My life flashed before my eyes.
The first time I met my girlfriend, my colleagues who always made me laugh with joy, my parents who supported me in everything I did. I was prepared to meet my end. I waited and I waited. I opened my eyes just for abit to see why I hadn't met my demise yet.Then within the corner of my eye,I saw the Giant creature struggling to walk. I had now come to my senses. I saw a opportunity to escape. I ran inside the range and grabbed a Assault Rifle,Pistol and Knife. I shot the creature in the head which surprisingly didn't do much damage to it. I shot it again in the legs,stomach and even its back. Nothing worked. With ammo running low,I ran away from it hoping to never see a monster like it ever again.
The sky got redder and redder likely by all the bloodshed around me. I saw people dying left and right. It was painful to see them die and me not being able to help. "I am sorry" I kept repeating to myself, trying to ignore the calls for help in my surroundings. I felt helpless. I was even more worried about my gf. "Don't Die Eva,Please. Please God" I murmured running back to her apartment.
I continued to ignore the screams and cries around me and rushed to her room. "Eva! Are you Alright?". She wasn't there. Eva wasn't there. I did not even know if she was alive or dead. All I could do in the situation was to be calm and hope for the best.
I checked my phone and there wasn't any signal. "Is This the End of the World?" I thought. There wasn't any time to waste. I quickly took everything I needed to survive from a now-abandoned Gas Station. I scouted and looked around for clues to what was happening. There were piles of human bones on the streets, not a single strand of flesh left on them. I saw various creatures roaming on the streets hunting humans:Some for their flesh and some as sport.Some were skinny and fast while others were fat and strong like the one I faced. Nonetheless things were not looking good and I needed a plan.
I decided to search for a flare gun and light it to get help; if there was even anyone who could. But I was desperate. It had been days since I slept properly and the tiredness was getting to me. I launched the flare gun while hesitating. I waited for help. After a hour or so I thought everyone was dead and that nobody will help me. Even thinking about it brings tears to my eyes. But I saw it. I saw a car coming in my direction. I screamed "I am here. Help!" to which the car quickly stopped. 3 people with guns and machetes started getting rid of the monsters with almost zero effort. I was baffled. They introduced themselves. The first guy to speak was a guy in his mid 30s named John. He was Tall and Jacked. He was the main fighter of the group. The second guy was a guy of medium height who did not have anything remarkable about his appearance except his eyes which were a ocean blue color. His name was Nizar. The third individual was rather androgynous in looks and didn't say his name. The others said that he is quite shy around people and that his name is Arthur.
I introduced myself and thanked them for the help. I asked them various questions, some of which they didn't know the answer to. "What is happening to the world right now?" I asked. The shy one replied "Its a curse. A curse placed upon Earth by God for all the sins humanity has committed." I was rather amused by his answer and before I could say anything, he said "But this is all just speculation. Maybe we are in Hell and don't know it. Nobody knows the cause of the sudden change". I nodded my head to his statement and changed the topic of the conversation.I asked them about their plans to survive in this barren world.We chattered around abit and after awhile I begged to let me stay with them as I hadn't slept properly for days. They initially didn't want to but upon seeing my pitiful state, they agreed. I could finally sleep.
