We got home and the sitting room was still the same, light out. Charlie entered and locked the door behind him just then the lights turned on. Dad sitting in the couch with his hands fold across his chest
" Where do you think you are going". I was surprised
" Dad? You are awake?". I said smiling because I was already in trouble.
"Do you know what the time says?" Raymond said walking down the stairs "and you took my sister out so late at night, was this you what were paid to do?". Charlie wanted to say something but was cut short by dad
"Don't say a damn word, do you know what the time says?" Just then I looked at the wall clock hanging on the wall, it was 12:47. I tried to explain but Raymond interrupted
"Go to bed, tomorrow we will sort you both out" he left without looking back, then dad stood up and left. I looked at Charlie who was still cold not saying a word and left.
I felt guilty because all the blame was shifted to Charlie. On the bright side I was happy maybe dad can finally realize that I don't need a bodyguard. I changed into my nighties and went to bed.
The next morning, I opened my eyes and find Raymond sitting in my couch reading a book. I sit up
" Okay, that's weird why are you in my room early?"I asked
" Wish you were never popular " that word sounds familiar just then I realized Raymond was holding my diary, I quickly ran to him was about to take it he stood up and hid the book behind his back
" You can't just come into my room without my permission and go through my stuff, don't you understand the meaning of privacy?" I said angrily
" Get dressed and come down for breakfast " he was about to leave
" My diary?" I asked and stretch my left hand out but to my surprise he walked passed me
" Raymond hand it over, you are invading in my privacy" I said and walked up to him
" I will bring it when am done with it" done with it? Is he crazy? Going through my diary and still claiming rights here?
" I don't appreciate you reading it give it back, Raymond I don't go through your things why won't you let me be" I said as tears roll down my eyes
He wasn't pushed by my tears, he remains cold
" I will bring it when am done with it"he repeated slowly
" RAYMOND" I shouted " stop doing this and give it back to me"
" Do you want to explain going out late at night to me and how you manage to manipulate Charlie to take you out huh?" He yelled "we are doing our best to protect you yet you are running into danger yourself"
" Protecting me from what exactly?" my voice was shaking because I was crying
Just then Charlie entered. He looked at Raymond then me
"Raymond please stop it and give me back my diary"
"Come downstairs for breakfast in 30" he was about to leave when Charlie slip the book off his hand
" What do you think you are doing" he said angrily. I quickly ran to Charlie side and took the book from his hand
" It's her privacy Sir Raymond, you are supposed to ask before invading?" He said calmly
" I paid you to protect my sister not lecture me"
"Well, I am protecting her from any danger and if that includes you I won't hold back Sir Raymond, you paid me to protect her and that's what I am doing, if anyone sound like threat to her it's my duty to make sure that never happens" he said without showing concern on if he was going to be fired. With that Raymond left, he turned to me
"Madam, your dad want you to get dressed and come down for breakfast" he was about to go
" Thank you" I said " I will be down in 30". Charlie nodded and left. I immediately sat down on the bed crying
Raymond attitude change overnight after mum was found dead in her office, he doesn't even care about others feelings anymore.
