Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: The Internet Café Raid (2/2)

Amidst the commotion, Qin Siyang heard what sounded like several people arguing.

Then, amidst the chaos, he vaguely caught a voice:

"Officer, I just run a small business, I can't afford such a thorough inspection from you!"

'Officer?'

Qin Siyang's heart skipped a beat.

Could it really be such a coincidence? He had just thought about the possibility of being exposed, and now the police had come knocking?

The police were acting this fast?

Regardless of whether they were here for him or not, he had to prepare for the worst.

In his urgency, Qin Siyang quickly deleted his browser history and then found a way to disguise himself.

Just as he finished, seven or eight police officers stepped into the internet café.

"All of you, step away from your computers immediately. Put your hands on your heads and squat to the side. Move it!"

Qin Siyang put on a panicked expression and quickly followed the officer's orders, placing his hands on his head and squatting down.

"You! What are you doing? Step away from the computer. Hands up!" A police officer raised his gun and shouted angrily at a scruffy young man in the corner.

The man, flustered, hurriedly pulled up his pants and stammered,"O-Officer, I was… I… I was just…"

The officer immediately rushed over to the man who had failed to comply.

"Get lost!"

"A-Alright, officer." The man didn't even bother pulling up his pants properly before squatting down with his hands on his head.

Looking at the content displayed on the man's computer screen, the officer clicked his tongue in disdain and muttered, "You should cut back on this kind of stuff. Indulging too much at a young age will bring you trouble later on."

After saying that, the officer moved on.

Then, the seven or eight police officers began inspecting every computer, checking both the browser history and the content on screen.

When they reached Qin Siyang's station, the officer glanced at his face, then at the computer screen and browser history. After a moment of hesitation, he patted Qin Siyang's shoulder with some sympathy and said, "If a girl hasn't agreed, it means she's rejecting you. Don't waste your time and energy."

With that, the officer turned to check the next person's computer.

Qin Siyang gave the officer a grateful smile, but inwardly, he let out a sigh of relief.

He had anticipated that the officers would check browser history, but there was no quick way to fabricate a large browsing record in such a short time.

So, he had chosen the simplest method—reading an e-book.

He remembered that there was an .txt format e-book on the desktop titled How to Make a Goddess Fall for You.

Without hesitation, he had clicked on it and found that it was indeed a guide teaching "simps" how to devote themselves to their dream girl and win her favor.

He had immediately scrolled the progress bar to a random section in the middle, pretending to be deeply engrossed in reading a downloaded e-book.

The officers searched for a while and eventually arrested two young men who had been engaging in illegal online transactions at the café, taking them away.

But Qin Siyang felt that the officers' expressions were somewhat grave, suggesting that these two weren't their real targets.

"Sorry for the inconvenience, everyone. Hope you don't mind. Manager, please add an extra hour of internet time for everyone. The police department will cover the cost."

"Yes, of course! Thank you, officer!"

"Thanks, officer!"

"Thanks! Come raid us again sometime, officer!"

Amidst the lively atmosphere, everyone returned to their computers.

Meanwhile, outside the café, Qin Siyang heard the café owner speaking,"Officer, you guys have been pulling these sudden raids for the past two days. You take away a few of my customers each time—how am I supposed to run my business?"

"Boss Wang, we're just following orders from above. Hope you understand."

"Understand? How am I supposed to understand?"

"Didn't we cover the internet fees? What loss do you have?"

"You! This is unreasonable!"

Qin Siyang's mind stirred at this exchange.

The police had been conducting these surprise raids for the past two days? Right after he had committed the murders? Was it really just a coincidence?

No, they must have set their sights on him. There was no doubt that the police had deduced he might be gathering information from the internet café, which was why they conducted this raid—to find anyone browsing the Sequence Awakeners' forum.

Luckily, he had reacted quickly and dodged the bullet.

A wave of relief washed over him, filling him with satisfaction.

Qin Siyang let out a deep breath and decided to reopen [Godslayer Camp] to continue browsing.

Just then, a dialog box suddenly popped up on his computer screen.

Qin Siyang's eyes widened in shock, a chill running down his spine as goosebumps rose all over his body.

He immediately turned his gaze toward the front counter.

The café's network administrator was lazily smoking a cigarette, looking at Qin Siyang with a smile.

On the screen, the dialog box was still flashing.

[Friendly Reminder from the Network Administrator]

[The person the officers were looking for just now… was you, wasn't it?]
