Chereads / My Cold Muse / Chapter 7 - Ep 7: Closer

Chapter 7 - Ep 7: Closer

The days passed quickly, and the campus art project was now nearing its final stage. Jimin and Yoongi naturally spent more time together, even though their interactions were often filled with a familiar silence.

That morning, the practice hall once again became their meeting place. Jimin arrived earlier than usual, but to his surprise, Yoongi was already there, sitting in front of the piano while jotting something down in a small notebook.

"Hyung, you're here this early?" Jimin asked as he placed his bag down.

Yoongi turned his head, closing his notebook with a relaxed motion. "Some ideas came to me last night. I wanted to write them down before I forgot."

Jimin smiled slightly, curiosity creeping in. "Hyung always has a lot of ideas for music, huh?"

Yoongi simply nodded, then turned his gaze back to the piano. "Music is the most honest way to express something. Sometimes, I find it easier to speak through melodies than words."

Jimin fell silent for a moment, processing Yoongi's words. He felt as if he had caught a small glimpse of the man's inner world. "Hyung… why did you choose music? I mean, what makes you love it so much?"

Yoongi looked at Jimin for a brief moment before answering. "Because music is the one thing that never leaves me." His voice was calm, but there was a hidden warmth beneath it. "Whenever I feel alone or misunderstood, music is always there. That's why I keep doing it."

Jimin gazed at Yoongi with admiration in his eyes. He never expected Yoongi to be so open about something so personal. "Hyung, you're amazing. I don't think everyone can dedicate themselves so fully to something like that."

Yoongi gave a faint smile. "You're the same, Jimin. I see how you dance. You put your heart into every movement, and that's incredible. Don't underestimate yourself."

Yoongi's words made Jimin blush slightly. He felt that something had shifted between them—a closeness he had never experienced before.

During their break, Jimin and Yoongi sat together on the floor of the practice hall. Jimin was wiping off his sweat while Yoongi sipped on the coffee he had brought.

"Hyung," Jimin suddenly called, catching Yoongi's attention.

"Hm?"

"Thank you for always helping me, even though you don't have to," Jimin said sincerely.

Yoongi looked at him, slightly surprised. "Why are you suddenly thanking me?"

"Because… I feel like you care, even though you never show it outright," Jimin explained with a smile. "I feel more confident because of you."

Yoongi didn't respond right away, but there was a softness in his usually cold expression. "I just want to make sure this project goes well. And if I can help, why not?"

Jimin chuckled. "Hyung always has a formal excuse for things like this."

Yoongi smirked slightly but didn't deny it.

That night, Jimin returned to his room with a lighter heart. He couldn't get Yoongi out of his mind—the way he spoke about music, the way he showed his quiet but genuine concern.

Lying down on his bed, Jimin smiled to himself. "Maybe I don't have to rush," he murmured. "This relationship is already changing, and I want to savor every moment of it."

Elsewhere, Yoongi sat in front of his piano, as always. But this time, he wasn't composing something new. He was simply playing a melody he had created before—a melody inspired by Jimin's movements and energy.

He paused for a moment, staring at his fingers still resting on the piano keys. "Jimin… you make me feel alive in a way I never imagined before," he whispered to himself.

For the first time in a long while, Yoongi felt that he wasn't entirely alone. Someone was slowly drawing closer, and strangely enough, he didn't mind.
