Chapter 1 - Explanations

I've always hated reading system novels that have characters using stat points, as eventually, it leads to an absurd amount of numbers that don't really seem to mean anything. So for my novel, I've decided to go a different route.

Every entity with a certain level of intelligence will gain access to their 'Glyphs' once they reach a certain age. This 'awakening' will differ from person to person but all will gain access to it by the age of ten, in which they will gain access to their status.

Here they will learn about their innate Glyph, Traits, Skills, and Race. The key thing to keep in mind is that the 'Glyphs' is usually a reflection of what's already there.

The Innate Glyph will be a person's main talent, with some having passive abilities, active abilities, or even both. Most will need to be unlocked by completing a certain task like the Swordsman Glyph will need you to swing a sword 100 times with the correct posture before being able to access its perks. Some innate Glyphs are unlocked the moment the person gains access to their Glyphs but those tend to be more trouble, or tricky to handle than most.

Traits are a person's passive abilities, such as [Strength]. A person with said Trait would have higher strength than a regular Human, But said Trait is only a common one (rarities explained later) which means anyone can gain it simply by exercising consistently until their body is considered 'strong' enough to gain it, though some people are simply born with it despite their physique not reflecting having said Trait. Other Traits such as [Mana Core] will need to be slowly learned and formed or even evolved into a higher skill or a completely new one.

Skills are Active Abilities like [Cleave] or [FireBall] and just like Traits you either learn them or are born with them.

Race Influences what kind of Innate Glyphs, Traits, and Skills you can learn/acquire. For example [Pure Blood Vampires] are born with the Trait [Blood Archmagic] which is one of the strongest forms of blood magic or [Sanguine Infection] which is a Skill that changes other living creatures' race into either a [Newborn Vampire] or a [Ghoul] when they bite them (more explained on this in the novel later on). But they also can't have any Glyphs, Traits, or Skills that involve any form of Holy, Divine, Or Fire magic as they are inherently lethal to them.

Everything in this world, including the inhabitants, their Glyphs and Relics follow a rarity system that goes [Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic, and Unique]. Unique can be as weak as common or as strong as Mythic, the difference is that only ONE Entity can have it can have it at any given time, an example would be the Unique Race [Demon King] or innate glyph [Frigid Blight]. They can also all be evolved or transformed and this is done by

1) Utilizing it in certain ways repeatedly

2) Completing certain tasks related to it, once it's completed the skill will react accordingly

3) with Glyphstones

When any entity dies they have a chance of dropping a Glyphstone which will contain a random selection of Traits and Skills that the entity had that you can gain by crushing it. The higher the rarity a Skill or Trait is, the less likely you will gain it via a Glyphstone. If you gain a Trait or a Skill that you already have, then it either strengthens the one you have or evolves it.

Finally, we have Relics. In this world, there are obviously going to be enchanted items, weapons, and armor. Relics are Special in that instead of a person or creature dropping a Glyph Stone on Death, Everything gets absorbed into an item/weapon/armor that they were wearing/holding or the weapon that killed them. This only happens to Beings at the Epic Rank or above. The Relic will then be in a [Sealed] state until you achieve certain tasks depending on the Person who died. For Example, you kill a Farmer with a dagger. The Knife could then become a Relic and to Unseal it, you have to farm 20 Acres worth of potatoes in total, then the knife will give you a Trait that lets you always know the best way to farm potatoes without damaging them, as long as you have the Knife on your person.

I am very sorry for the small info dump and as I progress the novel, I will most likely come back to add or change things to ensure that there aren't any inconsistencies and the like to the best of my ability.

anyway, I hope you enjoy my novel!
