Chapter 1 - Goddess' Blessing

A blinding flash of light forced Tristan to close his eyes.

"What the hell was that...?" He muttered, his eyes struggling to open.

A second ago, he was walking to the convenience store to buy his weekly supplies.

Now...

"Dear Otherworlders, welcome!" A feminine voice exclaimed.

When Tristan was able to open his eyes, he realized that he was in a completely different place, surrounded by dozens of people he had never seen.

'...?' The confusion was enough to make his mind shut off.

Murmurs and whispers filled the air.

"You must have countless questions. About where you are, about who the people around you are, about who I am, and more." The woman brought her hands to her chest. "My name is Elena of Zir. I am the High Priestess of the Holy Millirian Empire, and the one who has summoned you here."

Whispers immediately sparked.

"Summoned?"

"What kind of Empire is that?"

"I've never heard of it..."

The High Priestess nodded, expecting the confusion.

Catching everyone's attention in doing so, she raised a golden scepter high into the air.

A warm and bright light was immediately emitted by both the scepter and Elena.

"You have been summoned because the Holy Empire needs your help. The Holy Empire needs you."

Tristan frowned, noticing the calming effect that the warm light had on himself and those around him.

'Tsk. Might as well be mind control.' He thought to himself. 'Though her appearance might be enough to turn most.'

Her long golden hair flowed with the wind as she slowly lowered her scepter.

"As you might have guessed, it is Magic that just used. And it is Magic that brought you all here. This World is one of Magic."

'How are we supposed to help if they're capable of using Magic?' Tristan asked himself.

"Some of you might ask why we would need the help of Otherworlders who are unable to use Magic..."

'...'

"It is thanks to our Goddess." The High Priestess said sincerely as she brought her hands together as if to pray. "Our Goddess is fair and kind. With her Blessing, you will gain incredible abilities. Some of you might gain superhuman strength, others the ability to manipulate the wind, and others the ability to control and conjure up a fiery blaze."

Despite being calmer than before, the people surrounding Tristaan exchanged confused looks.

"Millions and millions of people will suffer without your help. In exchange for your help, we will offer you anything you desire, in addition to the Goddess' Blessing."

'What about our people?' Tristan asked internally.

He didn't ask out loud because he didn't have any people. He had no living family members, and no friends he truly felt bad about leaving.

To him, this was the most interesting turn his life could have taken.

"If you wish to discover a new world, discover strength you didn't know you had, get a clean slate, and save countless people, then please..." The High Priestess gestured to the stone structure that stood by her side on top of which shone a purplish stone. "Step to the Altar, and accept our Goddess' Blessing."

'What happens if we refuse?'

Tristan had no intention of refusing. Asking the question out loud would single him out, and almost force him to be the first to step to the Altar, something he wasn't keen on being the first to experience.

"I-If you need help..." A red-haired woman raised a hand. "I'll help."

The High Priestess nodded and extended a hand.

One by one, people walked to the Altar, receiving the Blessing known as a Class.

Tristan, instead of being focused on the Altar, looked around the area.

It was a strange place surrounded by endless plains.

They were currently standing on stone. Fallen pillars and barely standing ones were visible as well.

'Some kind of ancient temple... Looks like the Goddess' church isn't doing so well these days.'

Before he knew it, Tristan was the last one remaining.

"What will you do, dear Otherworlder?"

Tristan stared at the High Priestess' beautiful face for a moment.

"If I'm asked this nicely, I supposed I can't refused." He answered with a shrug, which cause a couple of people to chuckle.

Having listened a bit to the High Priestess' explanations as well as to the different Classes obtained by the rest of the Otherworlders, he knew which Classes were most common.

He also knew about the King-Type Classes, which were known to be the strongest and rarest Classes one could possibly obtain.

Previously, a thin brunette had obtained the Sword King Class, and received much praise for it.

According to the High Priestess, it was possible for a King-Type Class to summon a Spirit to guide the Otherworlder, to aid them in realizing their potential and strength.

The idea felt creepy to Tristan.

'A good Class that doesn't involve a creepy fantom spirit please.' He thought as he lay a hand on the Altar.

Silent seconds passed.

"W-Well?" The High Priestess scratched her cheek awkwardly.

A System screen had appeared in front of Tristan.

"Knight." Tristan answered with a sigh.

"All Classes are good!"

"That's right, a bunch of us are Knights!"

"Welcome to our very own Round table!"

"Yeah." Tristan chuckled awkwardly.

Pleasantries were exchanged, and an awkward silence set in.

"With that done," The High Priestess smiled. "Are you ready to see The Holy Empire?"

"Hell, yeah!"

"Let's do it.!"

"I wonder if we'll get to see nobles..."

"Like Dukes and stuff?"

"Oh, my god! That would be so hot!!"

Tristan looked around silently.

'Everyone agreed to leave our world and discover a new one....' He sighed. 'Guess they all had shit lives as well. The High Priestess definitely chose us by some unknown criteria. Though I guess everyone is happy to ignore that.'

The conclusion of those criteria being that they would be willing to leave their world for a new unknown one.

'Though I have other things to worry about. I lied about my Class and...'

[Class: NTR King.]

'What the hell am I supposed to do with that?!'

The High Priestess raised her scepter.

A golden light filled the area, and everyone disappeared. Just like they had disappeared from their own earthly lives.

'What a Blessing from the Goddess... NTR King... That's crazy.'
