Synopsis

Anansi and the Gods' Feast

A long time ago, while the gods lived in the sky, they ate a special kind of food that gave them wisdom and strength. This food was so precious that humans were never allowed to touch it. However, Anansi was always greedy and wanted to taste the gods' food.

"If I eat that food, I will become stronger than the gods!"

Anansi's Plan

Anansi looked for a way to sneak into the heavens. To deceive the gods, he lied and claimed that he was a special messenger.

"I have come under the command of Nyame, the sky god, to deliver food!"

The gods, unaware of Anansi's trickery, believed him and entrusted him with the sacred food. But Anansi had no intention of delivering it—he decided to keep it all for himself.

Stealing the Food

Anansi took the food and secretly left the heavens. However, the aroma of the food was so tempting that he couldn't resist. He stopped along the way and took a small bite.

"This food is so delicious! I'll just eat a little more and take the rest home."

But bite after bite, he ended up eating all of it. His stomach became so full that he could no longer move. Meanwhile, the gods realized what had happened and started chasing after him.

Punishment

The gods, furious at Anansi's theft, captured him.

"How dare you steal and eat our sacred food! You must be punished!"

As a punishment, they transformed Anansi into a spider so that he could never return to the heavens. From then on, Anansi had to spin his own web, living suspended between the earth and the sky.

Moral of the Story

From that day forward, Anansi regretted his greed and deceit. This story teaches the lesson: "Too much greed leads to trouble." It reminds people to value honesty and self-control.
