Felix tapped his foot impatiently, checking his watch. He had called Ashton a few minutes ago, telling him to come downstairs, but Ashton was taking his sweet time.
"That guy better not be spacing out again," Felix muttered, leaning against his black car.
Just as he was about to call again, his sharp werewolf senses caught sight of someone standing near the entrance. Samael Flameheart.
Felix's expression darkened. What the hell is he doing here?
Samael stood casually beside a sleek luxury car, his golden eyes sharp and unreadable. He exuded his usual confidence, as if he owned the entire world.
Felix's irritation spiked. Without hesitation, he got out of his car and approached, his footsteps heavy with annoyance. But before he could get too close, a bodyguard stepped in his way, blocking his path.
Felix's eyes flashed dangerously. "Move."
The bodyguard didn't react.
Before things could escalate, Samael's voice rang out, calm yet commanding.
"Let him through."
The bodyguard immediately stepped aside, allowing Felix to close the distance between him and Samael. Felix wasted no time.
"What the hell are you doing here?" he demanded.
Samael smirked slightly. "Waiting for Ashton."
Felix's blue eyes narrowed. "Why?"
Samael answered casually, as if it was the most natural thing in the world. "To take him to the academy."
Felix let out a sharp laugh. "Yeah, that's not happening. Ashton is coming with me."
Samael remained unfazed. "No, he's coming with me."
Felix clenched his jaw. "And who decided that?"
Samael tilted his head slightly. "Me."
Felix scoffed. "Listen, you overgrown lizard—"
Before he could continue, the apartment doors finally opened, and Ashton walked out.
His purple hair glowed under the morning sun, and his violet eyes immediately landed on the two men staring each other down. He sighed as he approached.
"You two fighting over me this early in the morning?" Ashton asked, raising an eyebrow.
Felix instantly turned to him. "Ashton, let's go. I was waiting for you."
Samael, however, remained composed. "He's coming with me."
Ashton crossed his arms. "And why exactly are you two acting like I'm a trophy?"
Felix scoffed. "Because he showed up out of nowhere and started acting like your personal driver!"
Samael smirked. "It's only natural that I take my future partner to the academy."
Silence.
Felix choked. "Future what?"
Ashton's expression darkened. "Samael."
Samael simply looked at him. "You'll understand soon enough."
Felix's eyes twitched. "Oh, I don't need to understand anything! The only thing that's happening is you leaving, and Ashton getting into my car."
Samael didn't budge. "No. He's coming with me."
Ashton sighed. "You know what? I don't have the patience for this. Both of you, shut up. I'll just ride with whoever."
Samael immediately opened the car door. "Get in."
Felix's jaw clenched. He hated this—hated how casually Samael was taking over.
But if he left Ashton alone with Samael, who knew what that damn dragon would do?
With a deep breath, Felix made his decision.
"Move over, I'm getting in too."
Samael raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?"
Felix smirked. "You heard me. I'm not leaving Ashton alone with you."
Ashton rolled his eyes. "You guys are ridiculous."
Without another word, Felix slid into the backseat right after Ashton, making himself comfortable.
Samael didn't object. Instead, he sat beside them in the spacious car as the driver started the engine.
As the car moved, the silence inside was thick.
Felix crossed his arms. "Just so you know, I'm watching you."
Samael smirked, his golden eyes glinting. "Likewise."
Ashton sighed, leaning against the seat. It was going to be a long ride.
