Overview

There have been countless criminals in recorded history, ranging from small-time offenders to warlords who sought to burn entire civilizations to the ground. But then there's this guy.

The entity referred to as the "Faceless Detective" is unlike any known criminal in the multiverse. No real name, no face, no consistent identity, yet a legacy of destruction spanning multiple star systems. A master detective, an enforcer of justice (allegedly), and simultaneously one of the most prolific criminals in existence. Wanted for murder, mass destruction, war crimes, high-level theft, grand larceny, genocide, illegal time distortion, interdimensional trespassing, unsanctioned execution of high-ranking officials, and destruction of planetary judicial systems.

His crimes aren't just terrible—they're baffling.

• He infiltrated a secure war tribunal, executed every single defendant, then left a note saying, "Case closed."

• He stole an entire moon. No one knows how. No one even knows where he put it.

• He once robbed a bank that didn't exist yet.

• He overthrew a corrupt government by exposing their crimes, then blew up the evidence, making it legally impossible to prosecute anyone, leaving their entire system in judicial limbo.

• He arrested a cosmic entity, citing "breach of moral conduct," but never explained what law was broken. Said entity ceased to exist shortly after.

The real question isn't how he does it—it's why. And that's exactly what we don't know.

Interview Log: Dr. Vance Helbram and Dr. Elias Varesh

Location: Secure Research Facility, ISS HQ

Date: [Standard Galactic Time: 12/07/4103]

BEGIN LOG

Dr. Varesh: [Reviewing case files] This is absurd. These reports—none of them make sense. The man is a contradiction. A detective who solves crimes by committing them? A criminal mastermind who doesn't take credit? A law enforcer who operates entirely outside the law? How is this even real?

Dr. Helbram: [Sipping coffee from a "Best Doctor (At Least Top 50)" mug] Listen, Varesh, I stopped trying to understand this lunatic six planets ago. The guy leaves less evidence than a ghost, has more aliases than a con artist convention, and pulls off crimes that outright disregard the laws of physics.

Dr. Varesh: He has no face, no biological signature, no pattern. We can't even predict his next move!

Dr. Helbram: That's because he doesn't plan—he improvises. And I respect that. Horrifying? Yes. But you have to admire the artistry.

Dr. Varesh: [Staring at a report] Did he really steal an entire jury?

Dr. Helbram: Yes. During the trial of the Exalted Tyrant of Tarsis-9. One moment they were there, the next? Gone. And get this—the trial proceeded as normal. The prosecution still lost.

Dr. Varesh: That's impossible.

Dr. Helbram: So is breaking into a time-locked prison, but here we are.

Dr. Varesh: And the whole "stealing an entire moon" situation—how?

Dr. Helbram: Best guess? He convinced it to leave.

Dr. Varesh: That's not how planets work.

Dr. Helbram: [Shrugging] And yet, one less moon.

Dr. Varesh: We don't even know if he's human.

Dr. Helbram: We don't even know if he's real. Half the reports sound like urban legends, and yet there's physical evidence of him being there. Surveillance footage? Corrupts the moment we try to analyze it. Direct witnesses? They remember things differently every time. Some describe him as a towering, suited figure with no face, others as a shadow in the shape of a man, and one guy swears he was a floating detective hat.

Dr. Varesh: What does he want? Justice? Chaos? Entertainment?

Dr. Helbram: [Leaning forward] That's the terrifying part, Varesh.

We have no idea.

Observations and Current Status

Despite his chaotic nature, the Faceless Detective does not seem to operate with a clear ideological stance. Some actions appear heroic—toppling dictators, exposing corruption, delivering poetic justice to criminals. Others are indisputably villainous, such as his complete annihilation of Outpost-773, leaving behind nothing but a burnt badge and the phrase "Justice is blind."

It is uncertain if he acts alone or if there is a greater force at play. Attempts to track him have led to severe anomalies in time and space, suggesting that his existence is not limited by conventional laws of reality. There have been no confirmed captures, and direct confrontation usually results in the opponent disappearing without a trace.

He does not leave fingerprints, footprints, DNA, or any traceable energy signature. His presence is felt but never proven. His actions are recorded but never understood.

Until further notice, the Faceless Detective is to be considered a multiversal threat of the highest order.

Final Notes from Dr. Helbram

• "If you see a detective who looks like he shouldn't be there, run. He's already solved your case, and you're probably the guilty party."

• "If he ever asks you a question, do not answer. If you do, congratulations—you've just participated in his next crime."

• "If you wake up and your entire legal identity is missing, check your closet. If there's a fedora inside, you're next."

Incident Logs

Incident #1 – The Stolen Courtroom

Location: Supreme Tribunal of the Orpheon Concord, High Orbit, Sector 22A

Summary:

On [12/10/4103], during the high-profile trial of Lord Magistrate Halvoss, accused of orchestrating the largest intergalactic smuggling network in recorded history, the entire courtroom—including the defendant, jury, and all legal officials—vanished.

Witnesses claim that, moments before disappearance, a figure resembling a traditional 20th-century Earth detective was seen leaning against the judge's bench, flipping a coin. When security approached, he reportedly said, "I rest my case."

The next morning, the entire trial resumed—except now, the courtroom was on a different planet, with an entirely different jury. The trial concluded as expected, but no one could explain how they got there. Lord Magistrate Halvoss, now conveniently outside of ISS jurisdiction, was executed before an appeal could be made.

Status: Trial records corrupted, all security footage missing. The Faceless Detective's presence is suspected but unconfirmed.

Incident #2 – The Witness Protection Massacre

Location: Undisclosed Safehouse, ISS Witness Protection Program

Summary:

Three high-value whistleblowers, crucial to a case against the Chiron Syndicate, were found dead in their safehouse.

Here's the weird part: they were already scheduled for execution. The hit was supposed to happen in 48 hours—but the Faceless Detective killed them first.

Security logs indicate that, hours before their assassination was set to take place, a shadowy figure bypassed all security measures, entered the facility, and personally executed each witness with a single shot. No alarms were triggered. The building's entire AI surveillance system recorded nothing except a single message typed on-screen:

"Justice delivers early."

Forensic teams confirmed that the murder weapon did not exist within our dimension.

Status: Case officially unresolved. ISS Intelligence suspects that the Chiron Syndicate was robbed of their own execution. A power struggle within the criminal underworld has since erupted, resulting in three dozen assassinations.

Incident #3 – The Missing War

Location: Planetary System Zeta-5

Summary:

Zeta-5 was on the brink of war. Two rival factions—**The Vexorian Dominion and the Andrel Confederacy—**had been preparing for battle for decades. The war was officially declared at exactly 09:00 Galactic Standard Time on [12/12/4103].

At 09:01, the entire war vanished.

All military bases were emptied. All deployed troops went missing. Orbital satellites detected no battles, no movement—just silence. When ISS teams arrived to investigate, they discovered a single note nailed to the Confederacy's war council chamber door.

It read: "War is a crime."

Three days later, the leaders of both factions were found dead in a bar, playing a game of chess.

Status: ISS Intelligence is unable to locate any missing soldiers. No war crimes were committed—because the war itself was erased.

Dr. Varesh and Dr. Helbram Debriefing – [REDACTED]

Dr. Varesh: [Slamming a datapad onto the table] This is out of control, Helbram. We are no longer dealing with an anomaly—we are dealing with a force of nature.

Dr. Helbram: [Casually drinking coffee] Oh, now you're catching on? I've been saying this for months.

Dr. Varesh: [Ignoring him] Do you understand what this means? He's not just acting on impulse. He's escalating. The courtroom stunt was playful. The hit on the whistleblowers was deliberate. And the war? That was omnipotent-level intervention.

Dr. Helbram: Right, so we agree he's a problem. Fantastic. Are we gonna stop him? No. Are we gonna try? Absolutely not. I enjoy breathing.

Dr. Varesh: You're making jokes, but you don't get it. What's his endgame? He's been committing these acts under the name "Detective." That implies he thinks he's solving something. But if he's solving cases—who's writing the rules?

Dr. Helbram: …You're asking the wrong question.

Dr. Varesh: Which is?

Dr. Helbram: What happens when he decides a case can't be solved?

[Silence.]

Final Observations

The Faceless Detective is no longer operating in isolated incidents. His actions span across entire galaxies, and his methodology suggests a self-imposed moral framework. However, that framework is incomprehensible by conventional standards.

If left unchecked, there is a possibility of catastrophic intervention on a multiversal scale. Whether his actions serve justice, chaos, or something else entirely remains unknown.

The ISS is now issuing a Level-9 Directive: Avoid direct confrontation. If encountered, all personnel are to disengage immediately.

Because if the Faceless Detective decides that the ISS is corrupt…

There might not be an ISS tomorrow.
