Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 – An Unknown Status

Reiner Cross, the head instructor of Zenith Hunter Academy, stared warily at the man in black hanfu standing before him.

Someone like this… there was no way he was just an ordinary person.

With years of experience as an S-Rank Hunter, Reiner had developed a keen instinct for evaluating opponents. But this time, his instincts gave him no clear answer.

"Am I facing an existence that cannot even be measured?"

Without wasting time, he immediately activated Hunter Scan—one of the fundamental functions of the Hunter System, used by every human in this world.

[Hunter System – Analysis Mode]

Scanning target…

Identifying data…

Name: Fangyan

Race: ???

Level: MAX

Hunter Rank: ???

Class: ???

HP: ???

MP: ???

STR: ???

AGI: ???

VIT: ???

DEX: ???

INT: ???

Registered Skills: ???

Affiliation: ???

ERROR!

The data that should have been displayed clearly showed only question marks. Almost all the information—basic stats, strength attributes, skill list—was blank!

But the most terrifying part was...

Level: MAX

Reiner held his breath.

"Impossible..."

In this system, no one had a maximum level. Even the strongest Hunters in the world—those who had reached SS-Rank or even SSR-Rank—still had numerical values in their status.

"The system should have an upper limit... but this guy..."

Reiner attempted to activate Deep Analysis, an advanced function designed to analyze high-level individuals in greater detail.

But—

[Hunter System – Deep Analysis]

Processing data…

Accessing high-level information…

Analysis Failed!

Error: Target exceeds system analysis limits. No information can be obtained.

"Damn it."

The System couldn't read this man's power at all.

Reiner felt a growing sense of unease. Even the Hunter System, which governed this world's power structure, couldn't evaluate Fangyan.

And if something couldn't be measured by the system...

That meant it existed beyond this world's rules.

Fangyan observed the shifting expressions on Reiner's face.

He already knew what was happening.

"He must be trying to scan my status."

Fangyan wasn't a fool. Ever since arriving in this world, he had noticed how Hunters relied on the System to define their strength—status, skills, levels, combat stats—everything was controlled by an automated system.

It was similar to how his previous world operated under the laws of cultivation, but here, everything was dictated by digital numbers.

However, Fangyan knew that this world's rules didn't apply to him.

He had already surpassed all limits.

Even though he had yet to fully understand the mechanics of this system, one thing was clear—nothing in this world could restrict him.

A Critical Debate

Fangyan finally spoke, his voice calm.

"Satisfied with what you saw?"

Reiner stared at him intensely, but there was now a flicker of unease in his eyes.

"Who are you, really?"

"Someone irrelevant to your academy."

"Irrelevant?" Reiner scoffed. "You appeared in this academy with no trace, no data the system can read, and now, even your status is unreadable. How can I consider you irrelevant?"

Fangyan shrugged casually. "So, what do you plan to do?"

The room fell into silence.

Some students tried to scan Fangyan themselves, but they were met with the same result—no information.

Reiner clenched his fists.

"I can't just let someone like you leave without any clarification."

"Oh?" Fangyan's gaze sharpened. "Are you trying to stop me?"

"I just want to make sure you're not a threat to this academy."

Fangyan's lips curled into a faint smirk.

"Alright, answer me this, Reiner. If I was a threat… what could you do about it?"

Reiner's eyes widened slightly.

"Let's say I wanted to destroy this academy. You said I can't leave without explanation. But… can you actually stop me?"

The silence grew heavier.

Students who were initially confident began stepping back.

Reiner gritted his teeth, but deep inside, he already knew the answer.

No.

If someone had MAX Level, an unreadable status, and an aura so overwhelming that even an S-Rank like him felt insignificant...

Then that person was not someone he could stop.

Finally, Reiner let out a long sigh. "Alright. I understand."

Fangyan smiled faintly. "A wise decision."

Without another word, he turned and walked toward the exit.

Just as he reached the door, he paused and glanced back at Reiner.

"I am not your enemy. I don't even care about this world," he said. "But if this world stands in my way… I won't hesitate to remove it."

With that, he stepped outside, leaving the room in absolute silence.

Reiner could only stand there, feeling a cold sweat trickle down his back.

This world had just been visited by an existence that even the System itself could not comprehend.
