Chapter 2 - New Year New Me

A radiant, golden screen materialized before me, displaying a list of races. My eyes widened as I read through the choices:

Human – The most balanced race with no major strengths or weaknesses. Capable of adapting to any situation.

Elf – Graceful and intelligent, known for their long lifespans and mastery of magic.

Beastkin – Humanoid with animal-like traits, possessing enhanced senses, agility, and instincts.

Dragonborn – Descendants of dragons, possessing immense strength, resilience, and the ability to breathe elemental energy.

Demon – A powerful but feared race with dark magic and increased physical capabilities.

Angel – Blessed beings with divine powers, often possessing healing abilities and holy magic.

Undead – Once-living beings given a second chance through undeath, immune to fatigue and conventional pain.

Dwarf – Short but incredibly strong, known for their craftsmanship, durability, and resilience in battle.

Fae – Mysterious, magical beings attuned to nature, often possessing trickster-like abilities.

Giantkin – Descendants of giants, possessing immense size and raw strength but slower movement.

Shadowborn – Beings of darkness, excelling in stealth, deception, and shadow-based magic.

Spiritfolk – Ethereal beings with a deep connection to the elements, often skilled in illusion and spiritual magic.

Shapeshifter – Beings capable of altering their form, allowing them to adapt to different situations and environments. They are born human and awaken their transformation ability at one year old, allowing them to shift into other forms at will.

God's voice echoed in the vast space. "Choose wisely, Ransu. Your race will determine your abilities and fate in this world."

I exhaled deeply, my mind racing. Each choice carried its own advantages and consequences. Becoming an angel would align with my childhood dreams, but a dragonborn? That sounded powerful as hell.

I crossed my arms. "What are the pros and cons of each race?"

The glowing screen shimmered, and detailed descriptions appeared beside each name. God chuckled. "I see you still overthink things."

I ignored the remark and read through the descriptions. After a long pause, I finally spoke.

"I choose… the Shapeshifter."

God nodded. "A rare and unique choice. You will be born human, but once you reach one year of age, your natural ability, Shape Shifting, will awaken. From that point on, your transformation abilities will develop as you grow."

I clenched my fists. A new beginning. A new world. And this time, I wouldn't let it slip away.
