Hello dear readers,
I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to read my very first web novel. I have always been an avid reader of webtoons and web novels, and recently, I started wondering what it would be like to be on the other side—the creator's perspective.
So, I decided to challenge myself: to write a web novel. This project is very close to my heart, and I intend to dedicate myself to it seriously in order to provide you with an enjoyable and immersive reading experience. Please don't hesitate to share your thoughts—I would truly appreciate it. I sincerely hope you will enjoy it.
Happy reading, everyone!!
The Remnants of the Great War
Twenty years ago, the world was consumed by the flames of war. This titanic conflict came to an end thanks to the alliance of the Three Great Kingdoms, united against a common threat: the Demon King, Azareth. The Empire of Illméria, home to humans, the Citadel of Norgad, stronghold of the dwarves, and the Sylvan Kingdom of Elvaris, land of the elves, joined forces to counter the enemy.
This war, known as the War of the Three Kingdoms, nearly reduced the continent to ruins.
The battles raged on for a decade. Countless lives were lost, entire cities were wiped off the map, and magic itself seemed to waver in the face of such destruction. It was only thanks to the intervention of Archmage Eldran Valtherion, the future director of Astra Nova Academy, that the demonic forces were finally repelled. In a final confrontation, Azareth was sealed away, and peace was restored—at least on the surface.
"Hmm… sounds like the typical fantasy novel, doesn't it? All that's missing is an overpowered protagonist who sweeps through every challenge without breaking a sweat… But trust me, you're in for quite a surprise. What I've just told you is the official version, the story everyone has been repeating since the war ended. But the truth is far more complex. So buckle up and follow me, because this adventure is only just beginning..."
The Birth of Astra Nova Academy
At the end of the war, the rulers of the three nations decided that a new safeguard was necessary. Thus, Astra Nova Academy was founded—an institution dedicated to training future mages and preserving balance between the races. From that moment on, talented children from among the humans, elves, and dwarves were sent there to learn magic and become the protectors of their nations.
The Academy's system was strict.
Each year, students were divided into four ranks (Initiates – Adepts – Scholars – Elites) according to their magical abilities. The higher the rank, the greater the expectations and pressure. Magic was classified into several categories: the classic elements (fire, water, earth, air), the primal forces (light, darkness), and rarer disciplines such as spiritual magic, enchantment forging, and familiar summoning.
It was in this setting that a new wave of students stepped through Astra Nova's grand gates for their first year. Among them was a young man with shoulder-length black hair and a weary, disinterested gaze, stepping into this world…
But what he didn't yet realize was that a pair of watchful eyes had been observing him for a long time.
Perched on a high branch, hidden in the shadow of an old oak tree, a small creature with piercing eyes silently watched the Academy's entrance.
Its dark fur blended seamlessly with the night, and only the golden glow of its eyes betrayed its presence. At first glance, it appeared to be nothing more than an ordinary familiar, an insignificant pawn on this vast chessboard. That was exactly as it had intended.
For years, it had watched over this boy without him ever knowing. It had chosen him, followed him. But it had never revealed itself.
Because if the truth were to come to light, the darkness of the past could consume everything that remained of this world.
And the time had not yet come.
To be continued…
