Chapter 1 - An Outcasted Noble: The Pioneer

"My son... Go out and become the legend this family so desperately needs... Otherwise, never set foot in my house again."

Nestlee stretched as he sat up, still groggy from a long night of map studying. His long, oversized nightshirt was hanging off one of his shoulders as he got out of bed. As he pushed his window open, the scent of sunbaked saltwater wafted into the open window as he started to get dressed. As he entered his powder room, he spritzed himself with a new cologne the local pharmacist had come up with, "Saltwater-Karamel". He washed his face thoroughly before putting on his salmon-colored button-up and white vest.

Just before he left, he grabbed his bag and looked in the mirror with a sigh. "Yep... A certifiable lady killer... IF I COULD ONLY TALK TO A LADY!" Nestlee shook his head and left his room, then left the inn he was staying at. The local fishers shook their heads as he passed by them, for it was obvious to all of them that the "certified lady killer", could always find a way to be/dress just a little more flamboyantly every day, as they all knew, he had no interest in women. However, for Nestlee, today was a big day. As he arrived at the port, the falls of his "feminine described" strides could've scared anyone, as he was on a mission. As he arrived at the last dock, his magnificent project came into view. It was his ship, the SS Raven, he'd spent the last few months making it perfect for his journey ahead, as he was going to be venturing to the uncharted lands appropriately called "the Dreckenlands". His crew was the best of the nine seas, as they were the only ones willing to take on this job.

"Good morning to you, Sir Westland." Said the First Officer as Nestlee came aboard. "A good morning to you too, First Officer Sud. Have all the preparations been made?" The First Officer nodded and followed Nestlee into the Captain's quarters.

"If I may say, sir, the route you planned...", the First Officer adjusted his uniform uneasily, "it may be the fastest route, but it is the most prone to spontaneous and raging storms. Are you sure you wish to go this way?"

Nestlee set his bag down and nodded. "Yes, I am. Now, get the men ready to depart. We leave for uncharted shores immediately." The First Officer saluted and then left the quarters shouting orders to his men. Once the sails were lowered, Nestlee took his place at the helm and closed his eyes as the naval-classed sailors raised the anchor. The twink-like, young man raised his arms as powerful magic swirled around the ship and gave the ship a massive boost.

"All hands! We make history today!" Yelled out First Officer Sud. The crew cheered and got to work getting their mission underway...

(Several Weeks Later)- The SS Raven was battered by relentless storms. Howling winds and rain that cut through flesh like obsidian glass beat down on the sailors while Nestlee held steadfast at the helm, fighting to keep the ship from being torn into pieces.

"SIR!" Called out First Officer Sud as a massive surge in the waves tossed the ship every which way. The sailors and Nestlee were fighting for their very lives as this massive, raging storm shoved the SS Raven toward the coastline lined with jagged boulders and coral barriers. Nestlee looked at his crew scrambling to do their best to keep the ship from capsizing. His mind raced, unable to find a proper solution to their predicament. "Things are getting more and more desperate by the minute... I need to do something... ANYTHING! YOU USELESS NOBLE! CAN'T YOU DO ANYTHING..."

Nestlee's mental spiral was suddenly interrupted by the crow's nest spotter yelling out to him. "PORT AHEAD SIR! THERE IS A PORT AHEAD!" Nestlee immediately ordered the sails raised as he tapped into his "arcane art", (mana-potential), and slowly pulled the ship into port. Once they were tied off and anchored, they made their way deep into the unknown port, which was eerily still with a silence that drove men insane. However, the deeper into this ghost port they went, the stronger the scent of burning wood became.

Through the eerie silence, the voices and screams of people could be heard, along with the clashing of swords and shields. "Sir, please stay behind us. We'll keep you safe." Whispered Officer Sud to Nestlee as his men drew their swords, forming a wall in front of Nestlee, who'd drawn his Runelock pistol. However, the voices had changed. Once sounding off in resound confidence, were now cowering and quivering in fear. As Nestlee and his sailors approached them, only one sound cut through the dense fog and falling rain... a bone-chilling rhythmic thud that fell over and over again. As Nestlee and his crew reached the sound's origin, there were the bodies of armored men littering the now cobblestone pathway. As they followed the bodies, they eventually came upon a circle of men yelling and screaming. Nestlee fired a magic charge from his Runelock pistol to get their attention.

"I am Nestlee Westland, Noble of the Baharand Empire. What in the blazes is the reason for this?" The armored men parted to find a young man, appearing to be of some royalty, battered and bloody from trying to defend a woman and a child. Then, one of the armored men stepped forward towards Nestlee. "This doesn't concern you, Noblemen of an "Empire" I've never heard of. So I'd leave or share their fate." Grinned the man. However, his grin was replaced quickly by a look of pure terror at a voice that seemed to cut through the dark, foggy air.

"So, you wish to place fetters upon the Prince? Now that's something I will never allow." Nestlee, his crew, the armored men, and the prince all turned in the direction of where the voice had come from. Nestlee turned back to the prince, who had a smile of relief on his face. "Thank the gods you're here!"

That's when HE appeared...
