Synopsis
In 2010, mysterious portals known as “gates” ripped open across the globe, snatching people away and unleashing monstrous beings upon Earth. For six harrowing months, humanity battled these invaders until the gates reopened, returning the vanished with newly awakened, cosmic powers linked to distant planets. Dubbed the "Children of the Sun," these transformed individuals became humanity's unlikely defenders, each empowered by the celestial energy of a specific planet. Now, in 2025, the hunt for these enigmatic portals has evolved into a nationwide quest—and with it, the rise of exclusive academies dedicated to training these gifted warriors. Amid this charged atmosphere, 15-year-old Seon-Woo experiences a startling awakening after fainting at school, a phenomenon never before seen. Just as the world begins to adapt, a new portal appears, unleashing monsters fifty times more formidable than those from the past. While traditional foes can only be defeated by a Child of the Sun from their corresponding planet, this latest threat defies the rules, as no human emerges to claim the celestial mantle. Desperate times force humanity to craft rare, expensive weapons forged from the very skin of these beasts—a temporary fix in the face of overwhelming danger. As Seon-woo enrols in the military to execute a plan the world was not ready for, he soon discovers that his abilities might not only allow him to slay these monstrous foes but even to control them. With the fate of a world teetering on the brink of cosmic chaos, his journey becomes a race against time to unlock the true potential of the sun within him—and to determine whether he can stand as humanity's final line of defence against an enemy unlike any other.

Chapter 1 - Initial

This glossary serves as a reference guide for the key concepts, ranks, abilities, and factions in the book. I've done my best to keep it as clear and professional as possible while avoiding major spoilers. That said, some details are naturally introduced throughout the story, so if you'd rather experience things firsthand, feel free to skip this section.

Military & Ranks

Unit – A self-governing team of newly recruited soldiers responsible for their own operations.

Edners – The highest-ranking elite military unit, specializing in strategic oversight and mission coordination.

Squads – Specialized subdivisions within Unit Z, each with distinct roles:

Ghost Squad – Experts in stealth, reconnaissance, and assassination.

Valkyrie Squad – Aerial combat specialists adept in rapid deployment and strategic strikes.

Aegis Squad – Defense and reinforcement experts, specializing in protective strategies. Primarily used as medics.

Omega Squad – Heavy artillery specialists with superior firepower and brute-force tactics. Typically operate on the front lines.

(Note: Division, Base, and Squad Captains might refer to those weaker than Recruits/Cadets in certain contexts.)

The System

System – An advanced mechanism granting Seon vast knowledge acquisition, accelerated learning, and precise analytical capabilities.

Stellar Energy – A cosmic force that seeps through the portals connected to the Solar System's planets. When humans enter these portals, their bodies adapt to this foreign energy, awakening unique powers based on the celestial body they return from. Stellar energy is largely on Earth, as it is Earth's largest and most powerful energy source.

Resonance Level – Seon's level within the system.

Void – Functions similarly to an inventory, storing weapons, equipment, and other resources.

Power System: The Planetary Classification

Abilities are categorized based on planetary influence, determining a soldier's strengths and skill set. To obtain an ability, an individual must enter a portal linked to a specific planet to awaken their power.

Heroes are collectively referred to as the Children of the Sun, and those who identify with a particular planetary power are designated as "Child of [Planet]".

Abilities Associated with Each Planet:

Mercury – Enhanced speed, agility, and reflexes.

Venus – Persuasion-based abilities, gravity manipulation, and mental influence.

Mars – Unparalleled combat prowess, raw strength, and battle instinct.

Jupiter – Leadership-based abilities, strategic foresight, and commanding presence.

Saturn – Mastery of defensive tactics and counter-combat strategies.

Uranus – High-level intelligence, adaptability, and battlefield foresight.

Neptune – Expertise in stealth, infiltration, and subterfuge.

Pluto – The most enigmatic classification, associated with rare and unpredictable abilities.

Monsters & Threat Levels

Monsters originate from planetary anomalies and emerge through portal glitches. A monster can only be slain by a hero from the corresponding planet of origin. Abilities from other planets inflict insufficient damage to neutralize them effectively.

Monster Classification (Weakest to Strongest):

Tier 4

Tier 3

Tier 2

Tier 1

D-Grade

C-Grade

B-Grade

A-Grade – The most formidable class of creatures, deemed unkillable due to their unknown planetary origin. Hybrid in nature, their destructive capability is equated to large-scale natural disasters.

Main Nal – Catastrophic events triggered by portal malfunctions, amplifying natural disasters. Although rare, they possess the potential to obliterate entire cities overnight.

Organizations & Factions

Children of the Sun – The governing body overseeing planetary portals and hero academies, akin to a centralized hero association.

Military Academy – An independent institution unaffiliated with the Children of the Sun, primarily recruiting orphans and training them for military service upon reaching legal enlistment age (16).

The Military – A government-controlled organization focused on weaponizing monster remains. While it maintains a trade agreement with the Children of the Sun, it operates autonomously in most aspects.

The Capitol – The nation's wealthiest district and the most fortified location in Korea, housing high-ranking officials and elite members of the Children of the Sun.

Central – The enforcement division responsible for maintaining order, composed of ability users deemed insufficiently strong to join the Children of the Sun. They operate in close affiliation with both the hero organization and the government.

Children of the Sun Rank Structure

Children of the Sun rank their members based on how long they remained on their chosen planet during their first awakening. To level up, they must return to the same planet and ingest Stellar Energy, which can only be obtained from planetary monsters or rare fruit. Both are extremely difficult to acquire.

Rank Progression (Weakest to Strongest):

Technology

Portals – Advanced rifts that connect various celestial bodies to Earth, allowing humans to travel between planets and awaken their respective powers. These portals are typically unstable and dangerous to traverse, often malfunctioning and giving rise to monsters or other anomalies.

Mechs – Large, humanoid machines used by the military for heavy combat. These mechs are equipped with advanced weapons and defensive systems, often powered by Stellar Energy or other sources of high energy.

Nano-Armor – A form of advanced armor composed of nanomachines that adjust to the wearer's body, enhancing their durability and abilities. It can also be adapted for stealth or camouflage in certain cases.

Stellar-tech Weapons – Weapons that utilize Stellar Energy to enhance their destructive capabilities. These can range from energy blades to long-range energy cannons, with each weapon designed to match the user's planetary classification.

Shadow Clones – Artificial duplicates created through advanced technology or abilities. These clones mimic the appearance and some abilities of the original user, often used in training, espionage, or combat. (Available only on the system)

Energy Shields – Protective barriers that can be deployed to defend against both physical and energy-based attacks. These shields are generated using high amounts of Stellar Energy or advanced tech that taps into cosmic forces.

Combat Drones – Autonomous machines used for surveillance, reconnaissance, and support in battle. These drones are equipped with sensors, weapons, and communication tools that make them highly efficient in combat situations.

Holo-Projectors – Devices that project realistic 3D holograms. They are used in communication, training simulations, and strategic planning.

A.I. Assistants – Highly intelligent artificial beings that assist in daily operations, strategic planning, and mission analysis. A.I. can be integrated into combat systems or act as a personal assistant for soldiers or officers. (Available only on the system)
