Awakening Chapter 2: "To a better tomorrow"
..................
The supervillainess was confused when she saw Sam rushing
towards her, but didn't hesitate to attack ."Take this!" She yelled "Little Johnson!" before firing a double wave of electricity towards Sam's direction.
The attack connected with Sam's body, electricity coursing through her body as she screamed in pain. "GAHHHHHH!"
The supervillainess grinned at the sight. "You look better like this!" she charged another attack, aiming for the vulnerable Sam. Before she could complete her attack, Sam shouted at the top of her lungs, "NOW!"
Ray jumped infront of the supervillainess. His fists against each other. "Please work!" he exclaimed, as a bright green light enveloped the area, blinding the supervillainess temporarily in the process. The supervillainess squirmed in the air for a moment, rubbing her
eyes. "Damn it!" she yelled in frustration after opening her eyes only to find Ray and Sam nowhere in sight. "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on Me!" The supervillainess uttered before beginning to fly through the hallways like a predator on the hunt.
Meanwhile, inside of warn down supply room, Ray locked the door and pushed a
cabinet against it to seal it shut. After that, Ray and Sam leaned against the cabinet, sliding down until they sat on the ground with their backs resting against it.
"I'm sorry, for...distracting you earlier with my stupid outburst." Ray's
gaze darting sway from the injured Sam, feeling guilty. Sam shook her head. "I- it's Fine..." Gasping for air. "Everyone
makes mistakes." Wiped the blood off her mouth and forced a slight smile.
Ray pulled his mask off and glanced at her before giving a light smile. "I guess..."
he pasusd for a moment before speaking again. "When the ceiling collapsed, was that your doing?" There was curiosity in his tone. Sam just nodded, glancing away as well. "Damn, that, along with the stun plan, I could never come up with
something as genius as that." Ray shook his head slightly. "Why do you have to be so smart?" His voice had a hint of tease and appreciation. "Is that a compliment?" She asked, intrigued and with a hint of
playfulness.
Ray answered, rolling his eyes and his tone still carrying a tease to it
"Like I will ever compliment a ginger."
For a moment, Sam giggled at his comment before she began coughing up blood, quickly covering her mouth so as not to worry Ray. Ray noticed Sam's attempt at covering her bloody caugh but
decided not to mention it. "When will the backup arrive?" "Any moment now, I guess; I probably should call them and inform them of my success." She pulled out her phone from her pocket, dialling a certain number and waited for the person on the other end to pick it up. A moment of awkward silence settled between them, the only sound in the room being the ringing phone and Sam's heavy breathing.
Ray broke the silence. "Getting kidnapped and used as a hostage."
He looked down in embarrassment before continuing. "Isn't exactly
what I imagined my first mission to be like." Sam rolled her eyes, nudging him slightly. "Hey, no worries. I'll
rescue you whenever you get kidnapped again." Her words seemed genuine despite the sassy tone.
"Come to rescue me again with that stupid-looking costume of
yours and I'd rather stay as the villain's hostage. "Ray commented grumpily, his expression still embarrassed.
Sam gasped, feigning offence. "You're the last one to talk about stupid costumes. "she began, pointing out the obvious flaws in Ray's costume. "Why is it only two colors? green and black of all colors?". "Sure my custom doesn't look all that protective but it is! I ordered it specifically to be made of hard fabric. You on the other hand are the opposite of that with your armor design going around!" She rolled her eyes before continuing. "Your gloves are fingerless!!! Someone can easily swoop your fingerprints! and what's the point of a
mask covering half of your face? Should've gone with a full mask if you wanted to hide your identity."
She struggled to suppress a chuckle. "If anything, you look more like a vigilante than a hero ." Ray became increasingly embarrassed and immediately got
defensive. "It's cool! I think and at least I don't look like a 14-year-old emo girl!"
Sam prepared to retaliate, but her response was abruptly interrupted when another voice finally answered on the other end. "Oh, thank goodness, Klaus,
" she said urgently. "Ray has been rescued successfully, currently We're hiding in a supply room, I'm sending you the location right now and in need of backup ASAP."
Klaus replied calmly from the other line,
"Good job rescuing the
clown. No need to worry, Backup is on its way." In the background, Ray seethed with rage and snatched the phone
from Sam's hand. "Who are you calling a clown?" he demanded. Klaus's tone remained unchanged as he responded,
"Isn't that an accurate term to refer you with? You always manage to embarrass
yourself with how irrational you are!. Can't you go five minutes without causing trouble?" Klaus paused, allowing Ray a chance to respond, but Ray stayed silent. Klaus continued, "If you had just
been executed as planned, we wouldn't be in this mess, infact we wouldn't even be in every other mess you've caused."
Ray's rage boiled over. "OH YEAH? Well, at least I'm not a freaking delusional lightbulb like your ass, thinking I'm better than everyone—" Before Ray could finish, the wall in front of them suddenly collapsed...
"Found ya~" The supervillainess giggled.
Sam and Ray were stunned in the background, fear gripping them.
Klaus's voice still came through the phone, desperate. "What? Sam! Sam! Answer me—" His words were cut off as the supervillainess destroyed the phone with an electric beam. Electricity surged through Sam's hand as she tossed the ruined phone aside, wincing in pain.
"Did that hurt, Sammy?" The supervillainess taunted sadistically,
approaching Sam menacingly. "I'll make sure it never hurts again."
Ray swiftly rose to his feet, positioning himself in front of the
injured Sam. "Over my dead body, Pikachu knockoff!" His eyes blazed with anger as he confronted the supervillainess.
"Ray-ray, you don't need to worry about me. I won't harm you." she cooed sweetly. "Too bad, because I will." Ray retorted, charging at the supervillainess, ready to strike. The supervillainess seized Ray's fist, stopping him instantly.
Ray attempted to free himself against her unyielding grip, but his efforts were futile. "Let go of me!" he demanded.
"Why must you be so stubborn, Ray-ray?. I Told you That i won't harm you!" she huffed. "I hope you forgive me for this." With that, she hurled Ray against a wall to their left then proceeded to approach the injured Sam. Ray crumpled in agony, collapsing unconscious to the ground.
"RAYYY!" Sam screamed with concern in her voice. But before she could finish, the supervillainess halted infront of her and yanked her up by her hair, lifting her into the air.
"Now that no one can interrupt us. I can finally get my pay back dear sammy. You really made me look like a fool infront of Ray-ray and oh boy! I happen to hate being treated as a fool!." she said, her sadistic smile widening. Sam struggled to break free from the supervillainess's terrifying grip, punching and scratching at her arm, but her efforts were to no
avail. With a predatory look in her eyes, the supervillainess's fist crackled
with electricity before tightening its grip, her grin widened even more at the sight of her pray.Tears welled up in Sam's eyes as they widened. She closed them, a
resigned acceptance settling over her. "Do your worst." Sam said quietly, ceasing her resistance and preparing for what was inevitable.
Before the supervillainess could finish the job, Thunder suddenly struck; she looked over her shoulder, The predatory gaze being replaced with pure shock and rage when she looked at Him.
"ANOTHER HERO, GIMME A BREAK?" The supervillainess. "What are you
doing here?! Ya interested in getting your butt cheeks clapped?". The supervillainess dropped Sam on the ground, and turned to face the hero. "Don't worry dear Sammy, I'll end this buffon then return to you." The supervillainess giggled before speaking again. "So what's ya name huh-" the supervillainess was interrupted by Klaus who calmly raised his hand and
opened it in front of the villain's face,
"Lord of thunder: Judgement."
He muttered, unleashing a massive beam of lightning that blasted
through the villain, sending her crashing through multiple walls. As the beam gradually dissipated, smoke billowed from Klaus's hand, accompanied by lingering sparks of electricity. "Filthy villain." He said while looking at the destruction caused by his attack. "I go by Klaus." Then he hurried over to the injured Sam, worry evident in his voice.
"Sam, are you okay?" He assisted Sam to her feet. "I'm fine, thank you Klaus. appreciate it." she said with a slight smile, leaning on him for support.
"You're welcome, s-sam" he replied warmly, returning her smile. Sam's gaze then shifted towards the unconscious Ray. She rushed to him and checked his pulse, exhaling in relief. "He's alive. You go arrest the villain while I wait here with Ray." Klaus's warm smile turned into an annoyed Frown at the sight. "That clown." He shook his head in disappointment then proceeded to head to where the villain was blasted.
