"Welcome to the world of Silent Veil, I am your narrator—you can simply refer to me as Narrator. "
"Alright, let me see what my notes say..."
"For centuries, millenia and perhaps eons, this world has been divided into four."
"Four absurdly large continents that make up the landmass of the entire planet; four supercontinents that behave like different worlds."
"Each continent has a specialty. In other words, there is something that sets it apart from the rest of the worlds."
"The first continent Elyndor has a rather creepy specialty; that being the Distortions."
"No one knows where distortions orginated from, only how they exist or how they behave." [MORE INFO ABOUT THIS TOPIC IS SAID IN LATER CHAPTERS.]
"Humans roam the land of Elyndor as they do on the other continents, with the exception of continent number four."
"And the humans who roam Elyndor have been advancing, it is due to need that they advance; their need for survival causes their advancement to expand."
"In the last two century, the humans have evolved immensely. What was once a retelling of the medieval history of Earth has turned into a somewhat modern society."
"Kingdoms have been laid to waste, forgotten in the corridors of time—a concept such as time also being a human concept."
"Villages lay low in numbers; but they remain regardless. Towns have been transformed into cities; and cities transformed into districts."
"The parts of the super continent Elyndor that remain untouched by human civilization are referred to as the Outskirts. A place that reeks only of death, disease and decay."
"Nations, empires, kingdoms and whatnot have all disappeared; the entire continent now remains under the control of one government."
"In total there are 128 districts, these districts are the size of large countries, comparable to Algeria of the real world."
"Each district is made up of four cities, the cities are named by the direction they face; North, East, West and South cities of said District."
"Districts are numbered rather than having a name like countries do, for example; the first district to have been constructed was District #1. And the latest was District #128."
"War has also somewhat diminished; but in some cities and districts, the everlasting concept of war remains. Districts such as #57 or #22. They all have their own wars going on."
"After all; war is eternal. For it is in the nature of humans to continue fighting for a faceless authority and a blurry cause."
"Though the continent is united, it has still found a way for violence in its own regions."
"Moving aside from that topic. The continent is controlled by 26 associations—or rather large conglomerates. They are all assigned a letter. For example the N from N association. The letter does not really mean anything, aside from being the name of the association."
"There are also smaller versions of these ginormous associations that have branches all over the districts; companies. Companies can be named anything, really. Just like in the real world."
"The government of Elyndor is called the NAPDI. It is a collection of the five most influential associations, represented by the five letters in the name, NAPDI."
"Each association will serve its own purpose—I just hope you all survive until you can join these associations though."
"Human lives in Elyndor are plenty; but that isn't a good thing is it? It only means that those who are insignificant have little more value than hamsters or rats."
"Your mother may die, your father, your brother, your sister, or you. But if the person dying is insignificant. The NAPDI may not even bat an eye to the death."
"A population of 20 billion people. Hundreds or thousands may die each day from many ways. Because no matter how safe or advanced this new society is; it is never safe enough."
"I give you a proper welcome to Elyndor."
