Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Levels

Jin sat in front of his computer, his fingers tapping against the keyboard as he navigated the exclusive website provided by the Exorcist Association. The interface was sleek and modern, a stark contrast to the ancient traditions associated with exorcism. As the page loaded, a vast archive of knowledge unfolded before him history, reports, and classified information that only licensed exorcists had access to. The sheer amount of information was overwhelming, but Jin was determined to learn everything he could.

He quickly searched for information about the Phantoms, the mysterious entities that had plagued humanity since the beginning of recorded history. According to the database, Phantoms had always existed, their origins shrouded in mystery. Despite centuries of research, no one had been able to determine how or why they were born. Some scholars theorized that they were remnants of unresolved grudges, while others believed they were manifestations of negative emotions given form. There were even theories that Phantoms were born from the collective fear of humanity, given life through an unknown force.

Jin furrowed his brows as he read further. The war between humans and Phantoms had been ongoing for millennia, but thanks to the rise of exorcists, humanity had managed to keep them at bay. However, the records made it clear that exorcists weren't always winning. There had been moments in history where Phantoms grew too powerful, wiping out entire cities before they could be stopped. The sheer devastation caused by these creatures was horrifying.

The strength of a Phantom was measured by its age, categorized into different levels:

Level 1-10: 0-50 years old (Lesser Phantoms) – Typically weak but still dangerous to regular humans.

Level 11-20: 51-99 years old (Intermediate Phantoms) – Stronger and often responsible for local hauntings and disappearances.

Level 21-30: 100-500 years old (Greater Phantoms) – Capable of large-scale destruction, requiring experienced exorcists to eliminate.

Level 31-40: 501-999 years old (Ancient Phantoms) – Incredibly powerful beings that could dominate entire regions.

Level 41-50: 1000+ years old (Mythical Phantoms) – Legendary entities, nearly unstoppable, known to have changed the course of history.

As he scrolled further, he found a detailed record of the strongest Phantom ever encountered in history, a terrifying entity over 1500 years old. This Phantom had the ability to hypnotize an entire country, leading to a mass hysteria that eventually escalated into a world war. Nations turned against each other, driven by the Phantom's influence, and millions perished before a team of the strongest exorcists managed to seal it away. The thought sent a chill down Jin's spine. If such a creature were to appear again, could humanity survive?

Jin leaned back in his chair, deep in thought. He had faced powerful enemies before, but the scale of this world's threats was on an entirely different level. Even though he had immense strength, there was still so much he didn't understand about this world's system and rules. He clenched his fists, realizing that he had to tread carefully. His usual approach of brute strength might not be enough in a world where strategy and knowledge played such a crucial role in survival.

His mind then drifted to his new family. In his past life, he had been an orphan, drifting through life with no real attachments. He had fought battles, won fame, and earned wealth, but he had never known the warmth of family. But here, in this world, he had a family that cared for him. His parents, and his younger sister they had welcomed him as their own. The warmth he received from them was something he had never experienced before, and he found himself wanting to protect them at all costs. If an uncontrollable Phantom ever appeared, he didn't want his family to be caught in the crossfire. The very thought of losing them tightened his chest with unease.

Determination burned in his eyes as he made his decision. He would accept Minato's offer. Not only would joining the Spirit Academy provide him with valuable training and resources, but it would also give him a steady source of income to support his family. More than that, it would be the perfect opportunity to gather knowledge about this world's laws, power structures, and hidden dangers. He needed to learn more, not just about Phantoms but about the hidden forces at play. If Phantoms were this powerful, what else was lurking in the shadows of this world?

Jin grabbed his phone and quickly typed out a message to Minato: I've made my decision. I'll join the Spirit Academy.

Within seconds, his phone buzzed with a reply. Good choice. I'll arrange everything for you. Welcome to the world of exorcists.

Jin exhaled slowly, feeling a sense of anticipation building inside him. His journey in this world was just beginning, and if he wanted to survive and thrive he would need to keep pushing forward. He turned back to his screen, his mind racing with possibilities. He had already come so far, but this was just the beginning.

One thing was certain: he would become stronger, no matter what it took.
