Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 Watch Yourself

Kamelio POV

-15 minutes after Kamelio was kicked out-

I finally made it back home after leaving the funeral and went straight to the surveillance room.

Brax had already placed more cameras around. He even prioritized the woods behind the school like I asked.

This meant that I could observe what the principals secret assassins are doing back there.

Well, besides assassinating people in secret.

As I was watching nothing was really happening for the moment.

So I got up and went to the kitchen, aiming to grab a cup of tea and wait for Brax's return.

Swish!!!

I instinctively pulled my dagger and raised it in a reverse grip. A blade slid across my own before being pulled back by the hand that held it.

"Sorry boss, wasn't expecting you to be back so soon." Blu said concealing his weapon.

Every since he almost died to Michael he's been super on edge. Thanks to that thought he's been on point at all times. He went from being a playful assassin to a cold blooded killer.

However despite that, he still maintained his original nature, so I didn't mind.

He was still the Blu I remembered, minus the paranoia.

However paranoia was a good thing in my opinion. It had saved my life on quite a few occasions.

"It's alright Blu, i'm more surprised I snuck past your detection. That doesn't happen often." I said walking with Blu towards the kitchen.

"How'd the funeral go, and where's Brax?" Blu asked noticing we were down a man.

"Brax is on a separate mission right now he'll be back soon. Have you been checking those cameras in surveillance?" We finally made it to the kitchen and I was glad to be there.

That tea wouldn't make itself, but then again dependent on what Blu says maybe I should get coffee.

"Me and Sanemi have been watching those cameras 24/7. We're watching in shifts while Pluto writes down our observations." Blu opened the fridge and pulled the ingredients to make a sandwich, simple yet effective.

"Give me a quick rundown of what you've noticed." I placed the kettle on the stove and turned to look at Blu.

I hadn't been gone long, but a lot can happen very quickly if you're not paying attention.

"Well, those cameras Brax placed in the woods havent seen any action. The cameras in the school haven't either except for one thing." Blu hesitated and took a bite of the sandwich he had made.

"What's the one thing that was noticed?" I asked slightly impatient, I was trying to hurry back to those cameras before I missed something important.

"There's a new student with a strange resemblance to Martha." Blu pulled out his phone and showed me a picture. "I didn't know if I was tripping or not. I also don't have the intel to know if she's a twin."

"What the hell? Even if they are doing something with the bodies it would take longer than this. It hasn't even been 24 hours!!! Unless… was Martha's body planted there?" I stopped talking and moreso started thinking out loud.

I was there when they found Martha's body, I was surveilling the staff for information.

I didn't get close enough to know if the body had been there for awhile or not.

Considering how fast it was found though, and the density of the area it was in, it would make sense to say it was planted.

But if Martha didn't die in the location she was found in, where did she die?

All I know is Jamie is the one who killed her. But if thats the case and he went missing in the process after losing to Grason.

Then why would he move her body after the fact? How could he if Grason kicked his ass?

For this to make sense it can only be true that Martha's body was planted there. Right in the walkway between the technology building and the library.

"Kamelio? What do you think?" Blu asked suddenly pulling me from my thoughts. I must have zoned out because my mind wandered and began running simulations and what-ifs.

"I think her body was planted there after they experimented on her. It's possible they kidnapped her or something. Began and concluded their experiments and then planted her remains somewhere she'd be found so it looks more natural than unnatural." I responded giving Blu a quick rundown.

There was one thought I had though that bothered me.

If her body was planted there, why were they in the principals office discussing her death recently? That strange man labeled her death as being a mission gone wrong.

Surely they wouldn't bring up something that they already knew about right? Is it possible they did that too catch our attention and throw us off their trail?

At this point I decided, I would go investigate the woods behind the school once Brax came back.

-9 hours later-

I was sitting on the cameras in the surveillance room. I had given Sanemi and Blu the rest of the day off in appreciation of their hard work.

They were grateful naturally since they had been at it for quite some time already.

I had been watching the same woods for 9 hours and nothing had changed. So in my boredom, I watched the cameras we had in the school.

We had every hallway on surveillance but we didn't put cameras in the classrooms because we aren't here for the students.

Only the guilty will suffer for what's being done to these young assassins. If the students suffered by our hand as well as the teachers then would we be any better than our enemy?

I started drifting off into thought. Nothing was going on right now and I wasn't used to it.

Life as an assassin was usually so gung-ho that moments like this felt like a dream.

It reminded me of what was waiting for me at home. Terva meant the world to me, she brought me peace.

I'd give anything to be back with her.

"MMMMHHMHMHM MMMM!!!" Someones voice was muffled, I could hear sounds of a struggle.

But I couldn't see it, it was just out of the cameras sight.

"Sleep." A deep dark voice murmured.

Its voice horrified me, it sounded like something out of a horror movie.

The muffled screams died down, and I didn't hear anything after that.

I began debating on if I should go investigate on foot. But I wasn't certain.

Then it hit me, Brax still hadn't been back from the funeral.

I pulled out my tracker and looked at the devices location.

It said he was inside the school. But he wouldn't come back and not report to me.

I checked the trackers location again in disbelief.

But this was real, they had gotten Brax.

It was my fault for sending him alone, but now it was my duty to bring him back to us.

No matter what, we had to save Brax!
