Chapter 2 - heated up

Heated Up

A goblin appeared. Then, more of them followed. I grabbed my knife, holding it like a dagger, ready for whatever was coming my way.

Back to the Underground Shelter

In the safety of the underground shelter, I wasn't there to hear it, but I could picture Lyrael asking where I was. "Where's Dyroth?" she asked. One of the teachers coldly responded, "We don't care. He's the one that went out. It's his fault."

Lyrael didn't stop. She cried my name, but another teacher stopped her. The other students were just watching, confused. "Why is she crying? What a dummy," one of them muttered. But Lyrael screamed, "Dyroth!"

Back to the Battle

I was back in the fight.

"You goblins want a piece of me?" I yelled, my frustration boiling over. "Come at me, bastards!"

Five goblins were surrounding me.

One of them smirked, licking his blade, then charged toward me. I barely managed to dodge as our blades clashed, the force of it nearly throwing me off balance. As I struggled to hold my ground, I noticed a group of knights watching from the sidelines. The leader, a tall, imposing man, stood there, his arms crossed.

"Let's just watch him," he said, clearly amused. "This kid's got some guts to fight goblins."

The goblin swung again, but instead of looking serious, he picked his nose and yawned. I was getting pissed. "Damn you goblins!" I shouted.

I sliced off one of his ears, watching him howl in fury. He let his guard drop, swinging wildly, and I easily dodged it. "Hahaha, stupid goblin," I taunted, feeling a bit cocky.

Furious, he dropped his sword. I seized the opportunity, grabbing it and trying to stab him, but it was too heavy. Damn it.

Frustrated, I threw the sword away and gripped my knife again. I jumped onto his head, driving my knife straight through it, and the goblin crumpled to the ground.

The knight leader stepped forward. "Move in and deal with the rest," he ordered, and I could barely stand as the exhaustion hit me. I passed out.

Back at the Village

I woke up, groggy and disoriented. The first thing I saw was Lyrael, standing there, her eyes red from crying.

The knight leader, who I now knew was named Roam, introduced himself. "I liked your performance against the goblins," he said with a chuckle. Lyrael shot me a glare.

"Yoh, big dummy, don't do that again," she scolded, her voice shaky from all the emotion.

Roam grinned. "You've got guts, kid. I've got a proposal for you. How about joining the Knight Academy with my daughter? You've got the talent for it. I'll put in a request to the academy on your behalf."

My eyes widened. "Wait, that's your dad?" she looked at me yea, looking confused.

"Yeah, this is my daughter ," Roam said proudly. "So what? He's so uncool."

Lyrael then looked at me and rolled her eyes. "You're such a loser."

Roam laughed, but I could tell he wasn't offended. "You can't speak to me like that, young lady," he joked. Then, turning back to me, he said, "You've got heart. Just remember that.".
