Chapter 19 - CHAPTER 19: Leo Tang

I can't believe it's already been a month since I came here.

A lot of the Zichen family member, have been coming but none is allowed inside

My birthday is still a month away, followed by the resumption of the semester—our final year.

After that night of discussion with Damon, I haven't seen him since.

When I woke up the next morning, the head housekeeper, Mrs. Ting, informed me that he had already left. I didn't ask any questions—I wasn't expecting much anyway.

With nowhere else to go, I simply stayed.

Victoria isn't around—she's on vacation in the States, and her number has been unreachable.

So, I spent my days wandering around the house, admiring its grandeur.

Victoria Smith Li—my best friend. The only person who has always had my back. Looking back, I realize how much I neglected her.

I was so obsessed with Gray that I ignored the one person who truly cared about me.

We grew up together—the three of us. Me, Victoria, and Gray.

But now… everything has changed.

I can't help noticing that the household staff here is different from the Jings'. They are always busy, efficient, and quiet. They keep to themselves, never overstepping their boundaries. It's a stark contrast to what I was used to back home. 'Its good, just love the peace and quietness'

I made money from the stock market ….. Buts not enough

I went back to the room

The soft glow of the laptop screen illuminated Lisa's face as she studied the fluctuating stock prices. Numbers danced before her eyes, but she wasn't overwhelmed—no, this was where her real power begins.

She had tripled her initial stock market earnings in just two weeks, and now, it was time to expand.

Lisa leaned back in her chair, exhaling slowly.

She had already set her plan in motion.

Lisa smirked, tapping her manicured fingers against the table.

She picked up her phone and made a call to Leo Tang.

I recently recruited him—Leo Tang, an ambitious financial analyst well known in the industry. Officially, the headlines painted him as a disgraced professional, blacklisted for embezzlement by his former friend and employer, Huang. But the real story was far more sinister.

Leo had been recruited by Huang years ago, out of loyalty and gratitude. Huang had helped him during their school days, and in return, Leo left his previous job to work under him for four years. He dedicated himself fully to the company—until the day he discovered something troubling.

While reviewing financial reports, Leo noticed discrepancies. The numbers didn't align, and large sums of money had been secretly transferred from the company's accounts to an unknown recipient. Determined to uncover the truth, he dug deeper. But before he could trace the missing funds, he reported his findings to Huang, expecting a rational discussion.

Instead, Huang ordered him to stay silent.

Leo, being a man of justice, refused. He was ready to expose the corruption, believing the law would protect him. But he never saw the real betrayal coming.

The unknown account used in the transactions? It was registered under his name—Leo Tang.

Before he could react, Huang had already moved against him, framing him for embezzlement and suing him in court. The case dragged on, tarnishing Leo's name and ensuring his exile from the industry.

In my past life, I remembered reading about this case. He was found guilty and sentenced to five years in prison, though he was released three years early on parole due to good behavior. When he finally made his comeback, he didn't do it alone—he had Ava's backing. I never knew how she met Leo or how she helped him, but one thing was clear: in my previous life, he became one of Ava's strongest allies.

This time, I wasn't going to let that happen.

As soon as I saw the news of his case, I struck a deal with Leo before Ava could. I provided the evidence that proved he had been framed, ensuring his freedom. In return, he would work for me.

The perfect asset for my growing empire.

He accepted. And now, Leo Tang was a free man once again.

Later that evening, I dialed his number. The call was picked up after a single ring.

"Miss Jing," a smooth voice answered.

"I have a job for you," I said, my tone firm. "But first, I need you to do something for me—dig up every dirty financial secret on the Chun family's businesses."

There was a pause. Then a slow, amused chuckle.

"Now that," Leo said, "is something I'd enjoy."

Leo Tang worked fast. Within a week, he delivered a thick file filled with dirt on the Chun family's businesses—money laundering, tax evasion, insider trading, and even bribery at high levels. I smiled as I flipped through the documents, my fingers grazing over the evidence that would soon bring them down.

Ava and her mother had spent years destroying my reputation, treating me like an ignorant, spoiled girl unworthy of my own father's name. But now, the tables were turning.

I dialed Leo's number again.

"You work fast," I said.

"I enjoy a good challenge," he replied smoothly. "What's the next move?"

"Simple," I said, leaning back in my chair. "Leak enough to cause panic, but not enough to bury them yet. I want them desperate—I want them looking for a savior."

Leo let out an appreciative hum. "You're more ruthless than I expected, Miss Jing."

I smiled. "I just learned from the best."
